He-Man: 10 Masters Of The Universe Characters We Hope To Finally See In Live-Action
Image
Nicholas Galitzine's casting as He-Man in the upcoming Masters of the Universe movie sparks excitement for long-awaited live-action appearances by iconic characters. Fan favorites like Moss Man, Fisto, Mer-Man, and Trap Jaw could bring depth and humor to the new movie adaptation. Possibilities for characters like Faker, Scare Glow, Hordak, She-Ra, and Battle Cat could elevate the stakes and expand the He-Man universe.

There is an abundance of fantastic Masters of the Universe characters that need to finally make the jump to live action. One of the greatest and most enticing things about the original 1982 toyline was the varied selection of unique and original characters, on both the hero's and the villain's sides. While the franchise has made the jump to cartoons, comics, video games, and a single live-action film from 1987 starring Dolph Lundgren and Courteney Cox, many of the best characters have yet to appear in live-action. Luckily,...

Why a Live-Action Masters of the Universe Reboot Film Hasn’t Been Made
Image
The development of a live-action Masters of the Universe reboot film has been plagued by false starts and disappointments over the past two decades, with the recent abandonment by Netflix due to cost concerns being the latest setback. The franchise has found success in animated projects but has struggled to establish itself as a live-action brand. Despite increased animated presence, a live-action reboot film seems as elusive as ever. Amazon MGM Studios is currently in talks to develop a live-action reboot film, which could be a logical move given Amazon's previous success with Mattel's Barbie franchise and the potential for a profitable film franchise.

The development of the long-gestating Masters of the Universe live-action reboot film has taken so many twists and turns over the past twenty years that the saga would doubtlessly make for a compelling documentary film. Indeed, for longtime followers of the Masters of the Universe franchise,...

She-Ra Live-Action Series in Early Development at Amazon (Exclusive)
Image
A She-Ra live-action series is in early development at Amazon, Variety has learned exclusively.

As the project is in the very early stages, no writer is currently attached. DreamWorks Animation will serve as an executive producer after recently producing the Netflix animated series “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.” However, the live-action version will be a new, standalone story and will not be connected to the animated show.

Should the project go to series, it would mark the first live-action adaptation of the She-Ra character. She first debuted onscreen in the animated film ” He-Man and She-Ra: The Secret of the Sword” in 1985 as part of the “Masters of the Universe” franchise before spinning off into her own cartoon series, “She-Ra: Princess of Power.”

Masters of the Universe Gets Director But Will It Get A Film?
Most titles from the memories of the Children of the 80s have been announced for film adaptations, only to languish in development hell. Thundercats, Voltron, and Masters of the Universe have all been promised to loyal fans for years, especially in the wake of the success of Michael Bay’s Transformers —with no payoff for the waiting.

Many fans, though, would rather not see their favorites come to life than to see them done poorly. This is a mistake that Hollywood is taking a gamble on by selecting Masters of the Universe to be dragged out of mothballs and dusted off for fans of the most powerful man in the universe—He-Man. Sources close to Sony Pictures and Escape Artists have announced that G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Step-Up series director Jon M. Chu is in talks to bring He-Man and the Masters of the Universe to life.

As stated above,...
