Released in 1989 and often compared to its fellow ’89 release Leviathan (which has also gotten the Black Sheep treatment), DeepStar Six was scripted Geoff Miller and Lewis Abernathy – which is interesting because movies like Leviathan and DeepStar Six exist because James Cameron’s The Abyss was coming out the same year, and Abernathy and Cameron are pals. Abernathy even had an acting role in Titanic.

Sean Sexton Cunningham is an American film producer, director and writer. He is best known for producing the slasher movie Friday the 13th (1980) and its various sequels. In addition to his Friday the 13th films, he has produced other horror films such as The Last House on the Left (1972), DeepStar Six (1989), Wes Craven’s New Nightmare (1994), and Shocker (1989).

Director Sean S. Cunningham is widely known for the classic 1980 slasher Friday the 13th, a movie we know and love that spawned a whole series of sequels and eventually a remake. Still, he’s done plenty of other things, and one of those things is the 1985 thriller, The New Kids. With a screenplay by Stephen Gyllenhaal who also wrote the story alongside Brian Taggert, The New Kids finally comes out on Blu-ray in the UK thanks to 101 Films and their excellent Black Label.

The story itself follows two American teenagers – Loren (Shannon Presby) and Abby (Lori Loughlin) – who, when their parents are killed in a car accident, move to Florida to live with their Uncle.

This June, 101 Films will release Sean S. Cunningham’s tense and violent horror-thriller The New Kids (1985), previously released on VHS as Striking Back in 1988 and never making the transition to DVD here in the UK, as part of the companies “Black Label” line.

After their parents die in a car crash, two all-American teens, Loren (Shannon Presby) and Abby (Lori Loughlin) go to live with relatives in a small Florida town. But trouble begins when members of a vicious gang, led by Dutra (James Spader), bet on who’ll be the first to seduce the innocent Abby. When she spurns their obscene advances, the thugs embark on a sadistic campaign of vandalism, arson and assault. The savagery escalates until Loren must defend himself and his sister in a brutal fight to the death in a carnival midway. It’s The New Kids… trying to make it in this town just might kill them!

Brian Taggert, a prolific TV and film writer whose credits include “Adam-12” and the script for the feature film “Poltergeist III,” died on June 1 at the age of 81.

His cause of death has not been made public, but the Los Angeles County coroner’s officer said Thursday that Taggert died in his home.

Taggert’s career took off in the 1970s with an extensive list of credits that includes “Adam-12,” and “Emergency!” He went on to write for TV films like “The Mark of Zorro,” “The Spell” and “Night Cries,” the television remake of “What Ever Happened to Baby Jane,” and the TV miniseries “V: The Final Battle” and “V” the series, among many others.

He also co-produced “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?”

With Friday the 13th being a box office behemoth in 1980, many people seem to consider this to be the high-water mark of Sean S. Cunningham's career. And while he hasn't ever had a film that became part of the lexicon the way that Jason and his ubiquitous hockey mask have, it would be wrong to toss aside a career that is actually quite varied. And with some perspective, who knows if one could say this about all the films that came after Friday the 13th, but The New Kids (released in 1985) is certainly a movie that deserves a much better life than it's had. In fact, it is so well done that The New Kids deserves to rise above it's cult classic status... if it even has that!

As New Kids on the Block gears up for their Total Package Tour with Boyz II Men and Paula Abdul this summer, Et's Nischelle Turner got a sneak peek at what to expect during their rehearsals. Since hitting it big in the '80s, there's still one tour prank they can't seem to outgrow.

"We can't have certain things because of our youth," Donnie Wahlberg says of the group's backstage snacks. "If there were cold cuts, it would usually be like, frisbee toss time, and that's bad. So we can't say that we have grown out of that, but we just grew smart enough to know that -- don't bring cold cuts."

"Anything that can stick to a wall," Jordan Knight chimed in, "we don't want it."

The New Kids on the Block singer had been checking out wedding rings for more than four years, but it was watching his longtime love, fitness trainer Harley Rodriguez, dangle over a death-defying waterfall that prompted the star to finally pop the question.

"We were walking around Victoria Falls, and there's this thing called Devil's Pools," says Knight, who was holidaying in Africa with Rodriguez, their mothers and friends. "It's ridiculous -- you walk to the edge of a waterfall and then it drops straight down and it just didn't make any sense to me, so I didn't do it, but Harley did. The New Kids on the Block singer revealed on Jenny McCarthy's Sirius Xm series Inner Circle Tuesday that he recently proposed to his longtime love Harley Rodriguez. Jonathan Knight of the '80s super group New Kids on the Block was always able to "blend in" when he was on stage with his four band mates, but now he's stepping into the spotlight as he competes with his partner Harley Rodriguez on this season of The Amazing Race.

Despite all of his years in the public eye, Jonathan has always suffered from anxiety behind closed doors, but he tells ETonline that appearing on CBS' hit reality competition, has helped him overcome his nerves.

"I am a very shy, reserved person, very anxious person. So I will say it gave me a lot of confidence," Jonathan reveals to ETonline of his Race experience.

The lingerie giant launched their new Body By Victoria bra collection and titled the accompanying campaign “The Perfect Body” with Behati Prinsloo, Lily Aldridge and Jasmine Tookes.

Striking back against the notion that the Angels have the ‘perfect body,’ an online petition has been circulating to demand that Victoria’s Secret change the wording on the ads.

According to the anti-ad movement, “Victoria’s Secret needs to apologize for, and amend the irresponsible marketing of your new bra range 'Body.’ It sends out an unhealthy and damaging message about women’s bodies and how they should be judged.”

Every couple of years we're #blessed with one of these movies, which feature a bunch of past-their-prime action stars, many of whom were vastly more popular 30 years ago, embroiled in some kind of scenario where they have to fire round after round of high powered weapon while cracking wise and acknowledging, at least to a certain degree, that they've all gotten very old.

Amazon Studios today confirmed a second-season pickup of Garry Trudeau’s Washington DC comedy series Alpha House starring John Goodman, Mark Consuelos, Clark Johnson and Matt Malloy as Republican Senators living under one roof.
