"Star Trek: Voyager" debuted on January 16, 1995, and was the first series on a brand-new Paramount-owned network, the Upn. Like the network, "Voyager" struggled quite a bit, famously floundering in the ratings and unable to secure the kind of cultural cache held by "Star Trek: The Next Generation," a series that had gone off the air in 1994. The premise was promising enough: a brand-new, super-advanced Starfleet vessel, the U.S.S. Voyager, was whisked clear across the galaxy by an ultra-powerful alien being searching for a mate. When the alien died, the Voyager was stranded in the Delta Quadrant, some 75 years away from Earth. Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) would guide her crew back home, using limited resources and unable to call Earth for backup.
Initially, the reaction was merely warm, with Trekkies focusing more attention on the contemporaneous episodes of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." In early seasons, the "Voyager" showrunners...

Sometimes it seems like Stephen King has done literally everything a person could do. As of this publication he has written over 70 books and over 200 short stories. He directed a movie where the Green Goblin was a killer truck possessed by a comet. He wrote an episode of "The X-Files." He did a cameo on "The Simpsons." Twice. He even did an "X-Men" comic book once.
So it probably comes as no surprise that Stephen King's work has been adapted into an episode of "The Twilight Zone." Indeed, the only things that are surprising about it is that it only happened once, and that hardly anyone has heard of it nowadays. But it's real. It's based on Stephen King's short story "Gramma," it was adapted by sci-fi luminary Harlan Ellison, it co-stars Piper Laurie from "Carrie," and it's part of the H.P. Lovecraft Cthulhu mythos.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon introduces a savior figure in Laurent, a boy with the ability to impact the behavior of walker hordes through prayer. Daryl experiences a vivid dream where Laurent's prayers save him and Daryl from a horde of walkers, hinting at a religious element to Laurent's gift. Laurent's potential as a Messiah-like character could have game-changing implications for the franchise, including the possibility of a rapture-like event.

The Walking Dead may be over, but the franchise is thriving.
AMC announced Tuesday, February 21, that the Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira-led spinoff had entered production.
To celebrate, the cabler shared two photos from behind the scenes.
The six-episode series is currently shooting in New Jersey.
The series presents "an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world," according to AMC.
"Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were."
"Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead... And ultimately, a war against the living," the logline teases.
"Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they've ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors?"
"Without each other, are they even alive -- or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?...

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon now has three official first-look images that showcase the return of Norman Reedus in the title role. Daryl is one of the most important characters in the post-apocalypse drama The Walking Dead, which ran on AMC from 2010 through 2022. Now that the main branch of the series has concluded, the franchise will follow his character to France in a six-episode spinoff set to premiere later this year.
Today, AMC TV just shared a trio of exciting first-look images from The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.

Daryl Dixon's The Walking Dead spinoff may incorporate one classic storyline, but should avoid this route at all costs. The Walking Dead season 11 ended with Daryl Dixon riding his motorcycle into the unknown, hoping to solve some of the zombie apocalypse's biggest mysteries. Showing Norman Reedus' character cruising into the sunset served as the prelude to AMC's upcoming Daryl Dixon spinoff, which sees the eponymous rogue mysteriously arrive in France with no recollection of how he got there.
Precious little in the way of story information has been revealed about Daryl Dixon's The Walking Dead spinoff. His French vacation will involve being taken prisoner by an unfriendly group of survivors, and the setting cannot be coincidental after The Walking Dead: World Beyond revealed the zombie virus originated in France. Daryl Dixon will also see Norman Reedus pairing up with several intriguing newbies. These include an underground nightclub owner by the name of Quinn,...

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon unveils the full cast for the highly-anticipated spinoff series. He rode off into the sunset in the final episode of The Walking Dead, but Daryl Dixon’s hiatus will be short-lived, as the fan-favorite character is set to return in a Twd Universe spinoff. It was revealed last year that Daryl actor Norman Reedus will be joined on the show by Clémence Poésy as Isabelle and Adam Nagaitis as Quinn.
Now more actors for the Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon spinoff have been revealed via TV Line. Joining the previously-revealed stars are Anne Charrier as Genet, Eriq Ebanouey as Fallou, Laika Blanc Francard as Sylvie, Romain Levi as Codron and Louis Puech Scigliuzzi as Laurent. Further details about these characters are being kept under wraps for the time being.

Norman Reedus shoots an action scene in the streets of Paris in set video from The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. The Walking Dead ended with season 11 in 2022, but the universe is nonetheless set to live on in spinoff form. 2023 will indeed see the arrival of two new Twd spinoffs, one focused on Maggie and Negan, the other on beloved fan-favorite Daryl Dixon.
The Walking Dead fans may indeed still have a long wait ahead of them for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon to arrive, but now at least they can get a taste of the action to come thanks to set video showing Reedus filming a scene in the streets of Paris.

The Walking Dead's three upcoming spinoff series will complete some of the franchise's biggest storylines, and the mystery surrounding Heath's sudden disappearance in season 7 could finally be resolved. Although The Walking Dead's flagship show is over the spinoffs will be an opportunity to answer some of the series' biggest unanswered questions, including how the zombie outbreak started and where the variant walkers came from. When it comes to survivors of the apocalypse, Rick Grimes and Michonne's series will finally reveal what Rick has been up to at the Crm, and the spinoffs are a great opportunity to also show what happened to Heath.
Although Heath seemingly vanished in The Walking Dead's seventh season, the most popular theory is that Jadis and the Scavengers traded him to the Crm. Keen-eyed viewers would have spotted Heath's van in the Scavengers junkyard following his disappearance, and showrunner Angela Kang...

Another spinoff of AMC's The Walking Dead is experiencing a big change.
The currently filming Maggie and Negan spinoff that was introduced to viewers as Isle of the Dead when it nabbed a formal pickup earlier this year has a new name.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the new series will now be called The Walking Dead: Dead City.
No details have been given for the change, but if we look at past spinoffs, all of them included the term "The Walking Dead."
Granted, that brand name alone will get people watching, and it's possible AMC was worried that people wouldn't correlate Isle of the Dead with the franchise.
Just a thought.
Then again, Isle of the Dead had a cool ring to it, so it's a shame the name has been changed.

The Walking Dead universe will expand considerably in 2023 after the conclusion of the main series.
We learned at San Diego Comic-Con recently that an additional spinoff featuring Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) had been ordered.
Details are relatively scarce about the project, and now, details are starting to trickle out.
Franchise overlord, Scott Gimple, opened up about the series on a universe preview over the weekend.
"I’ve been working on it very, very deeply with Danai and with Andy, and we continue to work on it pretty much every day together with some Walking Dead vets and some great new voices.”
He continued, “It’s an epic love story, but it’s an epic and insane love story."
"These are two people that have been separated for a very long time. They’ve lived whole other existences, and they have to find themselves again, let alone each other.

Fans of "The Walking Dead" were shocked last week when it was announced that series favorite, Melissa McBride, was no longer going to appear in the upcoming spin-off series, "Daryl and Carol." For the uninitiated, that's a huge deal as McBride is the "Carol Peletier" part of that title. Unfortunately, once the production planned to move out of Atlanta, Georgia where "The Walking Dead"...

Just because Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) won’t be in the as-yet-untitled Daryl (Norman Reedus) spinoff, it doesn’t mean heartbroken Carol fans will never see her again. The Twd Universe is far from done, and there are plenty of places she might show up again. Here are a few of them. Fear the Walking Dead For a show that was initially pitched as not crossing over with The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead has crossed over quite a bit. Why not do a time jump and throw one more Twd original into the mix? Carol and Morgan (Lennie James) had an intriguing dynamic on the main show that never got the conclusion it deserved, and it could be compelling to see Carol interact with other Fear fan faves like Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and Victor Strand (Colman Domingo). “The Walking Dead” may be ending soon, but AMC is planning to continue its zombie franchise with a multitude of spinoffs. Jeffrey Dean Morgan has a few words to say to fans who didn’t like hearing the news about Melissa McBride’s exit from the planned spinoff of The Walking Dead. Apparently, some of the more vocal watchers of the AMC drama placed the blame squarely on Twd star Norman Reedus, who is set to star in the untitled spinoff.

All good things must come to an end, which is why “The Walking Dead” viewers weren’t surprised when AMC announced the zombie apocalypse drama would conclude in 2022 after 11 seasons. The good news? One of The Walking Dead's most promising spinoffs is getting a complete overhaul.
TV Line is reporting that Melissa McBride will no longer be a part of the planned Daryl and Carol spinoff that was announced when AMC confirmed the flagship series would be ending back in 2020.
The outlet states that Norman Reedus will be the lead of the spinoff as Daryl, with McBride's exit being deemed a creative decision.
There has been plenty of speculation about whether the series would see the light of day of late, especially with AMC announcing Isle of the Dead, starring Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan earlier this year.
That show got a title and key art, while the Carol and Daryl series that was confirmed almost two years earlier was becoming a bit like the Rick movies in terms of getting information about them.

Sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that McBride will no longer be involved in the offshoot. Instead, the new series will focus on Daryl. Update: Initial buzz suggested the decision to jettison Carol was a creative one, although an AMC rep maintains it was about logistics.

The Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 9
For all the good that can be achieved with scale in an action setting, there’s nothing like a down-and-dirty scrap for survival. The Walking Dead does big battle scenes well, especially given the limitations of a television budget and shooting schedule, but when the show narrows focus and attempts a more restrained combat setting, be it a one-on-one knife fight or one survivor versus a crowded stairwell of walkers, the technical prowess of the creative team and the show’s stunt team and second unit team really come through.
Throughout “No Other Way,” the action is taken to street level, whether it’s Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and a surviving Reaper fighting over a rare shelter from the fiery arrow storm of the hwacha or Rosita (Christian Serratos) and the Alexandrians forming a makeshift corpse barricade on the...

The Season 11 premiere of “The Walking Dead” — the very last season premiere this show will have — is now here on AMC+ and on cable. And who better to talk it over with than Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride — aka Carol and Daryl — who are easily the most senior ranking members of the cast with everybody else from season 1 either dead or, in the case of Morgan, on a different “Walking Dead” show now.
“It feels weird,” McBride told me as we discussed the end of the series. “I’m not really thinking about it. I don’t think about it being the end or the final season, I think just because of where I am. I know everybody is, but I’m just focused on work. And it seems so far off. As we head into The Walking Dead‘s eleventh and final season, there aren’t many characters left who’ve been with the show since its first few runs. But someone who’s lasted the whole stretch of the series so far is Melissa McBride’s Carol Peletier. As comic book fans will know, this is a big change from her fate in the original source material, where she perished after just 42 issues.
But Carol could have also met an early end in the TV series, too. Back in season 3, she was presumed dead during a walker attack on the prison as, though T-Dog sacrifices himself to save her, we weren’t shown if she survived or not. But in the next episode, we discovered that she was fine. However, there were serious discussions going on in the writers room at the time about whether Carol should make it through.

The Walking Dead has resumed filming in Atlanta, Georgia, with work now beginning on the six additional episodes that will be hitting screens in early 2021. Though season 11 has been held up due to the pandemic, the cast and crew are still making these extra installments of season 10, which were specifically designed to be produced in line with Covid-19 protocols. And now, star Norman Reedus has revealed that the shoot has begun with a sneaky photo he took on set.
The actor shared the pic – which captures his legs, showing us he’s in costume as Daryl Dixon – to his Instagram story on Monday. It’s not much, but it’s good to know that production is in full swing. We had to endure a long Twd drought for a while there, but with the season 10B finale just airing and work on more episodes beginning, that’s now well and truly over.

The ending is truly only the beginning when it comes to The Walking Dead season 10. The long-awaited season finale, “A Certain Doom,” will bring to a close the war between our heroes and the Whisperers. But from the ashes of the finale will bloom six “extra” season 10 episodes scheduled to air in early 2021 in lieu of a brand-new season this October.
What will the extra episodes be about? As we’ve written in our own spoiler-free review of “A Certain Doom,” the finale feels like a true ending to the creepy Whisperer story the show has been telling for the last two years. So where can season 10 go from here? We’ve made our own educated guesses as to what might be in store for The Walking Dead in 2021, but now we’ve had a chance to ask the source.

The Walking Dead now truly is the Walking Dead as the hit show is due to conclude with its eleventh season. AMC announced the shocking news today, confirming that a super-sized 24-episode final season is coming across 2021 and 2022. This won’t be the end of the Twd universe by a long shot, with two new spinoffs announced to follow, but the cancellation of the parent series is still hitting fans hard.

Today brought the major news that The Walking Dead is officially concluding with its eleventh season. Following six additional episodes of season 10 in early 2021, a super-sized 24-episode season 11 will then follow before the show wraps up for good in 2022. But this is far from the end of the Twd universe, as two new spinoffs have been announced to follow the end of the parent series.
Most importantly, the adventures of two of Twd‘s longest-lasting and most popular characters will continue. The reveal that season 11 will be the last came with confirmation that Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride will return as Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier for their own vehicle that will explore what happens to the duo following the climax of the original show, however that might go down.

We had to wait a long time without any real updates, but we finally learned back in the summer that The Walking Dead‘s season 10 finale, which was held up due to the pandemic, is set to air on AMC next month. And while that’s certainly something to get excited about, it’ll now be tinged with a sense of sadness as the network has revealed this morning that the show will soon be coming to an end.
After a leak spoiled the news a bit ahead of schedule, AMC has officially announced that The Walking Dead will wrap up with season 11. Though the initial plan was reportedly to do 12 seasons, it seems things have changed – presumably due to the Covid-19 pandemic – and now, season 11 will be the last.
But it’s not all bad news, as the final run will be “an expanded two-year eleventh season that will span 24 episodes.

We got some very surprising news this morning – sort of. IGN tweeted that The Walking Dead is set to end following a mega-sized season 11 in 2022. However, it will then be replaced with a spinoff show focusing on two of the series’ most popular characters. Here’s the thing, though: IGN then quickly deleted the post, denying us further details for now.
See below for a screenshot of the tweet, snapped prior to its deletion, where IGN appears to break the news that the AMC post-apocalyptic drama will conclude with a 24-episode season 11, which will end two years from now. A follow-up show starring Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon and Melissa McBride as Carol Peletier will then debut in 2023.
Presumably what happened here is that IGN accidentally posted their story earlier than they should have, perhaps because of an AMC embargo on the exclusive. So, look out for official confirmation on this later today.

Turner networks TNT and TBS have put four projects in development led by a sequel to the 1985 film “D.A.R.Y.L.” that would star Tony Hale.
The TV sequel, like the movie, will come from Paramount, with Jody Lambert and Matt Oberg writing. Hale would star as an older version of Daryl (played by Barret Oliver in the film) a government-created robot with superhuman reflexes and mental abilities.
Additionally, TBS has the sci-fi comedy “Space” from Sony, and TNT has two dramas “The Fall” and “Liar’s Club.” The Hollywood Reporter first reported on the development slate.

The two basic cable networks, under Kevin Reilly, moved away from procedural fare like fan-favorite Rizzoli & Isles and multicamera comedies like Bill Lawrence's Ground Floor toward niche fare like Search Party and premium dramas like Snowpiercer.
Reilly spent years building up a comedy roster of ratings underperformers/critical darlings including The Detour and People of Earth. What remains, however, is a fraction of the scripted inventory the executive carefully curated.

Sergio Leone and Joe Dante at one stage were linked with The Phantom. We look back at Billy Zane's moment in the superhero spotlight.
“Where’s your spirit of adventure?” asks Drax, the film's villain, before setting off in search of the final skull of Touganda. This sums up The Phantom nicely. It might not work, but they went on an adventure and tried something interesting and different. Cinema would be richer with a greater sense of adventure. Rarely has distributor exploitation been as blatant as in the case of Simon Wincer’s The Day After Halloween (1980), a ludicrously-named Australian outing originally optioned under the name of Centerfold, then changed to Snapshot after the producers were unable to secure that title, and was eventually released as One More Minute. It appeared on video shelves here in the U.S. on VHS both in 1983 from Catalina Home Video under the title of The Day After Halloween and in 1985 as The Night After Halloween on Magnum Home Entertainment. The film came on the heels of the John Carpenter-scripted Eyes of Laura Mars (1978) which was set against the milieu of the fashion industry. Filmed in 1978 and released in Australia the following year, The Day After Halloween has absolutely nothing to do with John Carpenter’s seminal holiday suspense yarn, and isn’t even a slasher film. It isn’t even a thriller.

A military cyborg boy goes on the run in the 80s family sci-fi, D.A.R.Y.L. Ryan takes a look back at a decent movie with a misleading poster...
Ah, D.A.R.Y.L. One of the less commonly discussed family movies of the 80s, but one firmly lodged in my mind, largely because of its poster and subsequent videotape cover. Depicting a small boy at the helm of an Sr-71 Blackbird (inarguably the coolest aircraft ever designed), it immediately captured my youthful imagination.
Imagine my disappointment, then, when I discovered that D.A.R.Y.L. is not an all-action adventure about a kid hurtling about in a stolen aircraft, but a fairly low-key drama about a cyborg child slowly integrating into normal family life. The aircraft theft only occurs in the final reel, and is mere minutes long - if you thought the aerial action in Firefox came along disappointingly late in the show, as I did,...

Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of those rare and impeccable movies that have entered the American consciousness. Its characters are as likely to appear on present-day T-shirts as Darth Vader or Cookie Monster. Walk into any Hot Topic in any shopping mall in the Western world, and you’ll come away with the impression that The Nightmare Before Christmas is the Goth Godfather.
Roger Ebert raved about its “completely new” landscape and “visual richness”—“so abundant [it deserves] more than one viewing.” It may come as a surprise, then, that the movie made less than fifty million dollars in its initial U.S. run, finding the bulk of its adoring audience only via the Disney Channel and home video.

Kelly, a board member of the Los Angeles branch of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), who also teaches screenwriting at the University of Southern California and UCLA and has worked with Sydney Lumet and Robert Evans, said in a statement about her visit to Russia: "We're all in the global marketplace and I think we realize we all have as much to learn and projects that could be shot here while we share our talents during this exciting time for Russia's filmmakers."...
