‘The Last Jedi’ Opens to $220 Million, No Matter What Disappointed Fanboys Say
Last Weekend (2014)
“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” lived up to its very high expectations with a domestic weekend gross of $220 million. Foreign territories (with China not yet opened) added another $450 million to the total so far — a strong number, to state the obvious, at anytime, even more so for the pre-Christmas date.

This is a decided improvement over last year’s franchise sidebar “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” which opened to $157 million, and only 15 percent below what “The Force Awakens” did two years ago. The return of the series opened to almost unprecedented interest and demand.

This number is a terrific performance for a franchise now providing annual entries, with normal attrition usually meaning to lower grosses. “The Empire Strikes Back,” the second of the “Star Wars” series, opened in an...

Exclusive: Gareth Tunley and Alice Lowe on The Ghoul – and moving away from comedy
Author: Stefan Pape

There’s something that connects first-time filmmaker Gareth Tunley to actress/director Alice Lowe. As well as Tom Meeten, Rufus Jones, Paul Kaye and Dan Renton Skinner; comedy. Coming through the same generation of comics, each writing and starring in some of Britain’s best comedic offerings across the past two decades – this small collective are now all collaborating on a cinematic endeavour entitled The Ghoul. Except here’s the thing – this profound study of depression is far from being a comedy.

“It’s a bit of a curveball,” Tunley explained to us during an interview we conducted with the talented director, alongside The Ghoul’s lead actress Alice Lowe. “I always wanted to do serious stuff and I got waylaid into funny walks and silly voices for about 15 years. Still available for bookings. As a parallel thing I was making short films and they still tended to be funnier and lighter.

Impressions: Ichabod Crane Sleepy Hollow Sixth Scale Figure
Three recent murders, three missing heads, one long-dead killer rumored to be back at work. With minds reeling and heads rolling, the small town of Sleepy Hollow is anything but sleepy when Ichabod Crane arrives. A police constable from New York City, Crane’s methods are unconventional for the brink of the 19th century, as he relies on forensic science over superstition to solve cases.

But with the Headless Horseman prowling the wooded trails, Crane’s science meets the supernatural in Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow. Starring Johnny Depp as the curious Crane, the memorably macabre 1999 film receives a terrific tribute with Hot Toys' new Ichabod Crane Sixth Scale Figure from Sideshow Collectibles. They’ve given us a look at the new entry to their Movie Masterpiece Series and the incredible amount of detail and care put into this Depp depiction is downright scary.
