Tim Curry has written his memoir, due out in October
Image
Tim Curry’s memoir, Vagabond, is going to be published in October. Here’s more information on what’s in store for us.

I’m going for Congo. I know I’m supposed to vote for The Rocky Horror Picture Show as the best Tim Curry performance, or Pennywise in It, but the way he steams into 1995’s Congo and rips it away from everyone in his vicinity.

Curry’s life took a major turn, sadly, back in 2012. He suffered a stroke that nearly killed him, and understandably has been away from the public eye since. His work continues to be widely enjoyed, though, and now he’s at a point where he’s telling his story.

It comes in the form of his memoir, which is being published by Century on 14th October of this very year. It goes by the name of Vagabond, and it’s gone up for preorder.

Star Trek: Voyager Showcased A Terrifying Villain Played By A Comedy Legend
Image
In the third season "Star Trek: Voyager" episode "The Thaw", the U.S.S. Voyager comes upon a miniature colony on a distant planet where five people are being kept in cryogenic stasis after an unknown cataclysm. They're housed inside individual frozen coffins, and their brains are wired into a Matrix-like virtual reality simulation. Two of the five people have recently died of heart attacks, and the Voyager crew are curious as to what their simulated world looks like.

Harry Kim (Garrett Wang) and B'Elanna Torres (Roxann Dawson) jack into the simulation, and find a Cirque du Soliel-like nightmare world. The miniature world is occupied by sadistic acrobats and masked monsters that torment the three still-living colonists. The colonists are depressed and defeated, beaten into complacency by the circus creatures. The ringleader of the sadists is the Clown, a gray-and-white ghoul who has assured that this electric dimension is ruled by fear and pain.

Inside Sajid Nadiadwala’s ‘Housefull 5’ Multiple Endings Gambit: ‘Bringing Back That Element of Surprise’ (Exclusive)
Image
While Hollywood has largely abandoned the multiple endings theatrical model since “Clue” experimented with three different conclusions in 1985, Sajid Nadiadwala is reviving the concept for Indian audiences with “Housefull 5,” betting that it will resonate in today’s experience-hungry market.

The ambitious release strategy represents more than just a gimmick for the comedy franchise’s fifth installment. It’s a calculated response to changing audience behaviors, streaming competition, and the need to create “must-see-in-theaters” experiences that can’t be replicated at home.

“The idea of having multiple endings, multiple experiences has been with me for 30 years,” reveals producer Nadiadwala, who sees the cruise ship-set murder mystery as the perfect vehicle for his long-harbored concept. “Since I wanted to make ‘Housefull 5’ a thriller comedy, there couldn’t have been a better way to execute my idea of having multiple endings than this.”

While “Clue” pioneered the multiple endings theatrical model,...

Image
1000-lb Sisters has gained massive popularity since it began airing in 2020. Although it could be that the pandemic helped its momentum at the time since people were anyway bound to their homes with TV and internet to accompany them, the show has surprisingly maintained its fan following even five years later.

Well, their joy just got doubled recently after Brian Lovvorn proposed to Amy Slaton in the recent episode. Mystery Island: Winner Takes All Review – Party Game Meets Murder
Image
Hallmark Mystery has carved out a niche with its cozy whodunits, and Mystery Island: Winner Takes All slots comfortably alongside familiar channel fare—except this time the stakes are literal life and death. The film’s premise hinges on a glamorous tropical resort that markets itself as a live-action Clue game, complete with meticulously staged “victims” and immersive puzzles. When an explosion turns the scripted murder into genuine mayhem, the narrative pivots sharply from playful performance to real investigation.

Dr. Emilia Priestly (Elizabeth Henstridge) and Detective Jason Trent (Charlie Weber) serve double duty as both architects of the island’s elaborate murder mysteries and real-life sleuths scrambling to make sense of the chaos. The sprawling mansion, bathed in moonlight and shadow, becomes both playground and prison, its opulent rooms concealing secrets as readily as clues.

The film walks a tightrope between the lighthearted camaraderie of a party game and the...

9 Best Mystery Movies That Will Put Your Detective Skills to Work
Image
Hollywood genres tend to wax and wane, but not mysteries. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, The Thin Man, and The Maltese Falcon introduced early moviegoing audiences to the thrills of a riddle, popularizing a model that could be tweaked for horror, comedy, noirish drama, and beyond. Today, mysteries are as popular as ever.

We all love to play armchair detective, and trying to deduce the outcome before it arrives is what keeps the genre fresh. So, whether you want an all-star laugh riot or a brooding psychodrama, here are nine worthwhile mystery movies that’ll put your puzzle-solving skills to good use.

Weapons trailer | Julia Garner looks for missing kids in Zach Cregger’s new horror film
Zach Cregger
A full class of kids go missing in Zach Cregger’s next movie and we have a trailer to prove it. More on Weapons below.

Ever since Barbarian premiered, all eyes have been on Zach Cregger and what the director might do next. He was linked to a new Clue film for a while, but has seemingly now swapped that out Resident Evil.

But before Cregger heads to the world of video game adaptations, he’s treating us to another original horror film, titled Weapons. With the film release date only a couple months away, Warner Bros. has just released a new trailer to tie us over.

Take a look below:

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Weapons looks absolutely terrifying. Cregger isn’t the first to utilise creepy kids in his film to elicit terror, but if Barbarian is anything to go by, audiences are in for another wholly unique horror trip.

‘Criminal Minds: Evolution’ Trailer: Elias Voit Is Back & So Are Women Either Locked In Cages Or Buried Alive
Image
Yes, indeedy: someone is about to be buried alive again in the name of wholesome entertainment.

In the official trailer for the new season of Criminal Minds: Evolution, there’s more talk about serial killers, sadistic psychopaths, and Elias Voit — the notorious Sicarius Killer played by the enthusiastic Zach Gilford.

The 18th season picks up six months after prisoners attack Voit, leading his restless followers on the dark web to begin wreaking havoc all over the country. In order to stop this group from killing more women, er, innocents, the Bau is forced to play a “real life game of Clue” while saying things like “yes indeedy” as they work alongside the increasingly unpredictable Voit (who seems to his own agenda).

Evolution brings back stars Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, and Rj Hatanaka, along with Adam Rodriguez and Paget Brewster.

The new season premieres with one episode...

‘You’ Season 5 Review: Netflix Show Slides Into Total Absurdity — and It’s Not Even Fun
Image
It’s fun to be evil. So is the appeal of “You,” the Lifetime one-season wonder turned Netflix phenomenon. Based on the book by Caroline Kepnes, the thriller took great pleasure in showing the sociopathic brilliance of Joe Goldberg, a serial killer with a penchant for obsessing over certain women to the point of violence. For four seasons, Penn Badgley’s repellently charming villain has manipulated his world and the audience around him into rooting for his madness. It’s undeniably a blast to watch someone be very good at their job, even if that job is being a murderer. But in the show’s final season, Joe has, once again, turned over a new leaf. It’s for real this time, honestly!

Joe is back in New York City, living a life of glamor and privilege alongside Kate (Charlotte Ritchie), his CEO wife with her own dark past. He...

‘Ready or Not 2’ Title and More Cast Revealed: Sarah Michelle Gellar, Elijah Wood, and David Cronenberg
Image
The “Ready or Not” sequel starts production Monday, April 21 — that’s today — and Searchlight Pictures shares new details about the follow-up to the 2019 box office hit.

The sequel, titled “Ready or Not: Here I Come,” will film in Toronto this spring, with Radio Silence directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett returning for a second helping of the social survival horror comedy starring Samara Weaving.

Weaving reprises her role as Grace, who in the original film found herself being hunted by her new in-laws at her family’s posh estate. Joining Weaving and the previously announced Kathryn Newton are horror movie icons Sarah Michelle Gellar and Elijah Wood in undisclosed roles. But there’s more: Shawn Hatosy (“The Pitt”), Néstor Carbonell (“The Dark Knight”), Kevin Durand, and David Cronenberg also join the ensemble.

Horror director Cronenberg recently wondered in conversation with the Los Angeles Times whether “The Shrouds,” his new film out now,...

The Matlock Season 1 Finale Reveal Leaves Every Characters’ Fate Hanging in the Balance
Image
There are cliffhangers, and then there is this traumatic mess that Matlock has left us with. All in all, though, that was one hell of an epic ending to the premiere season.

Truth be told, it did not go as I expected at all. I thought it would be like the end of Clue, with Kathy Bates breaking down all her discoveries. However, what we got was so much better.

One thing about Matlock that I pondered was. “How will they keep the story going once the Welbrexa culprit is caught?”

(CBS/Screenshot)

What no one anticipated was that the big reveal would happen in secret, with the culprit’s consequences resting in the hands of someone other than Matty.

Also, let me go ahead and get this out of the way right now: I was dead wrong about what went down with the Welbrexa documents. Well, technically speaking, I was half “dead wrong.

Is the ‘Clue’ TV Series Still Happening? Writer Shares Troubling Update
Image
Aside from video games, board games also get film and TV adaptations. One of them is Clue (or Cluedo), which was first announced in 2021, then later in 2024 when it was revealed to be an animated series that Sony will release. Unfortunately, this board game project was unable to leave the tabletop setting as it was recently reported that the show was canceled.

Clue's writer Dewayne Perkins revealed in an interview that the show was canceled but didn't give any reason why that was the case. He also didn't shed light on whether anyone else would pick up the project or what was going to happen to the IP. In 2021, it was reported that Fox was developing the Clue TV series, as it partnered with Hasbro and Bento Box Entertainment to make the series. But by 2024, the film and TV rights moved to Sony, thanks to a new deal made by Hasbro,...

Tim Curry will publish Vagabond: A Memoir in hardcover, e-book, and audio book on October 7 via Grand Central Publishing.

The 256-page book serves as a celebration of the actor’s life’s work — from his breakout role as Dr. Frank-n-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show and his iconic depiction of Pennywise in It to his critically acclaimed role as King Arthur in both the Broadway and West End versions of Spamalot and beyond.

Over the course of five decades and dozens of roles across a variety of mediums, Curry redefined what it meant to be a character actor, portraying heroes and villains alike with complexity, nuance, and a genuine understanding of human darkness. In the process, he also left an indelible imprint on audiences.

‘Nobody 2’ Fights Its Way Into CinemaCon With a Sneak Peek Your Dad Is Going to Love
Image
Never underestimate a funny man. That’s what audiences learned when Ilya Naishuller released his action-packed feature Nobody in 2021, which moved Bob Odenkirk out of his typical safe space of funny guy and reintroduced him as an action star. The Breaking Badand Better Call Saul actor stepped up to the task at hand and made it look easy in the hit film that holds a glowing 84% critics’ rating and an even more impressive audience score of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. Today, during Universal’s presentation at CinemaCon, audiences got their first taste of the highly anticipated follow-up film that will crash into theaters later this year. Very much on par with the movie that kicked off what could easily become a franchise, Odenkirk’s Hutch Mansell is back in Nobody 2 and ready for more ass-kicking action.

At CinemaCon, we got an early look at the first trailer. Here's what we saw:

Ready or Not (2019) Review
Image
Don’t you just love it when your streaming service adds a film to its roster that you’ve had on your watch list for ages? After missing it the first few times round, I finally saw Ready or Not, directed by Radio Silence duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. It was everything I hoped for – a gory, gothic fable that skewers the rich, quite literally, while delivering one of the most entertaining horror-comedies in recent memory.

Grace marries into the Le Domas family, whose fortune comes from a board game empire and whose traditions are, shall we say, unconventional. On her wedding night, she draws the unlucky “Hide and Seek” card from an old box, initiating part of a time-honoured ritual that turns into a deadly manhunt across the family’s sprawling, secret-riddled estate. The rules? Survive until dawn. The stakes? Her life, and possibly her soul.

'Murdle' TV Series Based on Murder Mystery Puzzles in the Works at Amazon
Image
Crime-loving armchair detectives will soon have another puzzle to piece together, as Amazon MGM Studios is adapting a volume from G.T. Karber's Murdle book collection into a TV series. According to Deadline, Amazon is collaborating with Legendary Television and Pacesetter to bring a story based on the best-selling murder mystery sensation to the small screen for Prime Video. Karber, the man behind the book series and its accompanying website, is attached as an executive producer alongside Jon Croker, Jessica Rhoades, and Alison Mo Massey.

Croker, who is perhaps best known for his work on Paddington and Paddington 2, as well as the Oscar-winning short film The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, is penning the script for the Murdle adaptation. The project is being described as "a quirky, voice-driven series in the vein of Knives Out and The Gentlemen about two rival members of a London-based detective club,...

‘The Residence’ Team on Casting Kylie Minogue, Honoring the Late Andre Braugher and How ‘Knives Out’ Resuscitated the Whodunit Genre
Image
The new Shondaland murder mystery series “The Residence” shares some DNA with another Netflix whodunit: Rian Johnson’s “Knives Out” film.

“It resuscitated the genre,” showrunner Paul William Davies told Variety at “The Residence” premiere in Los Angeles on Wednesday, revealing that Johnson’s film was a “hugely important” guidepost for his show in the way that it drew inspiration from 1970s whodunits.

“He played around with the history,” Davies explained. “That really opened the door for a lot of us to be like, ‘Oh, yeah, we can do that again.'”

“The Residence,” which is now streaming on Netflix, stars Uzo Aduba as the wildly eccentric detective (and legendary birder) Cordelia Cupp, who is tasked with solving a murder that takes place during a White House state dinner. In creating the screwball comedy — which features a sprawling cast that includes Susan Kelechi Watson, Randall Park and Ken Marino — Davies...

Netflix's The Residence Differentiates Itself From Other Political Shows In One Major Way
Image
From "The West Wing" to "The Crown," some of the best TV shows out there take place in the world of politics. That said, they tend to revolve around politicians, special agents, and the professionals who deal with the more exciting jobs, often overlooking the day-to-day employees who make their meals, book their parties, and ensure everything runs smoothly. That's not the case with Netflix's "The Residence," however, which documents the White House's overlooked staff members within the framework of a good, old-fashioned murder mystery in the vein of "Clue," "Knives Out," and Agatha Christie's best works.

Created by Paul William Davies, "The Residence" centers around an investigation to find out who killed Giancarlo Esposito's White House chief usher A.B. Wynter (a role that was originally intended for the late Andre Braugher) during an Australian state dinner. He wasn't the most popular guy among his colleagues either,...

‘The Traitors’ Season 3 Prize Money: How Much Did Each of the Winners Make From the Show?
Image
The Peacock reality TV series The Traitors ended its third season with an intense finale. Dolores Catania, Dylan Efron, Gabby Windey, and Ivar Mountbatten won this season as the Faithfuls and split the prize money four ways. The show, hosted by Alan Cummings, has slowly become one of the most fun reality TV shows in recent times.

Similar to the games Clue and Mafia, The Traitors have participants split into two groups called the Faithfuls and the Traitors. As the weeks progress, the crowd thins with the elimination rounds until there is a winner. However, the prize money for the winners is not fixed and changes every season.

What is the format of the game in The Traitors? A promotional image from The Traitors | Credits: Peacock

With a treatment similar to international murder mysteries, The Traitors pits a group of participants against each other by turning them into Traitors and Faithfuls.

The Best Reality Shows of the 2020s
Image
For a lot of people, reality TV can be a bit hit-and-miss. But, for fans, these shows are an integral part of popular culture. Without them, audiences would have very little understanding of human nature and would fail to remain engaged with any other show on TV.

At times, fans often view the late 1990s and the early 2000s as the best decades for reality television. Shows like Big Brother and The Real World were dominating the ratings and allowing audiences to study everything that the human race had to offer. Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez in Resident Evil (2002)
Resident Evil | Zach Cregger’s new survival horror videogame adaptation out in 2026
Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez in Resident Evil (2002)
The next Resident Evil film is coming in September 2026 it’s now been confirmed, with Zach Cregger directing. More here.

Ever since Barbarian released in 2022 and announced director Zach Cregger as a bold new name in the horror genre, we’ve been waiting patiently for his next film.

That next film is still set to be Weapons, a horror ‘opus’. But it now sounds as though we might well be getting two films from Cregger in the same year, with news emerging that his spin on the survival horror videogame series Resident Evil will release in September of 2026.

It was last September that we first covered reports that Cregger had signed up to tackle Resident Evil, with Sony backing the project after the filmmaker declined to continue developing a remake of Clue with the studio. That agreement is now official, with Sony even publicly dating the film, per Deadline.

In Memoriam segment pays tribute to Gene Hackman but snubs Trachtenberg, Todd, Delon, and more
Image
Oftentimes, if a celebrity dies too close to the Academy Awards, they may not make it into that year’s In Memoriam segment. And for a moment, it looked as if Gene Hackman — whose death was announced mere days before Sunday’s ceremony — wouldn’t be making the cut, as Morgan Freeman looked to be paying a special tribute to his friend and co-star. Yet, Hackman and some other notable 2025 deaths (including David Lynch) were included. But as is the case every year, there were many names left out. So who did the Academy snub this year?

Among the most notable names missing from the In Memoriam segment was one who also passed away last month: Michelle Trachtenberg, star of Harriet the Spy and Eurotrip. Along with her, horror icon Tony Todd (Candyman) was also omitted. Also failing to make the cut were Heathers’ Shannen Doherty, Clue’s Martin Mull and Olivia Hussey,...

Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue Has An Unimpressive Premiere
Image
The following contains spoilers for Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue Season 1, Episode 1, "Dead Reckoning," which debuts Sunday, Mar. 2 on MGM+ .

Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue is a murder-mystery pure and simple. Created by best-selling author Anthony Horowitz for MGM+, it reverse engineers a crime fiction cliché by having the victims turn detective. Coming on like Lost in a South American rainforest, this opening episode starts by laying down some foundations. It gives nothing away to say that Nine Bodies plays a mean game of poker with the audience during that first hour. Conversations between the Mexican military manning this morgue are rife with unanswered questions. There are no body bags yet, and the idea of autopsies is a pipedream for another episode.

With an ensemble cast including Eric McCormack and David Ajala from Star Trek: Discovery, there is not a lot to work with, even after an hour.

The 10 Best 'Clue: The Movie' Quotes, Ranked
Image
Clue may not be one of the best mystery movies of all time, but it's certainly one of the funniest. It's based on the board game Clue, in which players try to find out who killed Mr. Boddy and end the game by identifying the murderer, the weapon, and the room in which the murder took place. Director Jonathan Lynn (who would later direct My Cousin Vinny) co-wrote the screenplay with John Landis, who also co-wrote and directed comedy classics including The Blues Brothers and Coming to America. With those two behind the script, the result is a movie that's absolutely packed with hilarious one-liners that often come out of nowhere. This may be a whodunit, but the genre is largely just an excuse to make a ton of jokes.

All 3 Endings in 'Clue,' Ranked
Image
One of the best movies based on a board game, Clue is a cult classic and one of the silliest whodunits around. Named after the characters in the famous game from the 40s, the cast includes Yvette (Colleen Camp), Mr. Boddy (Lee Ving), Miss Scarlet (Lesley Ann Warren), Mr. Green (Michael McKean), Professor Plum (Christopher Lloyd), Wadsworth (Tim Curry), Mrs. Peacock (Eileen Brennan), Colonel Mustard (Martin Mull), and Mrs. White (Madeline Kahn). These people were asked to come to Mr. Boddy's large mansion, and each of them quickly becomes a suspect of murder. As the film progresses, more and more people around the mansion are found dead while more and more clever puns are tossed out. What makes this mystery particularly unique is that it follows the spirit of the game by allowing for more than one kind of ending. There aren't as many endings as there are characters, but...

‘Hysteria’ Review: Religion, Immigration and Ambition Collide on a Movie Shoot in This Shrewdly Scathing German Whodunit
Image
Imagine Knives Out meets François Truffaut’s Day for Night, but set in a present-day Germany rife with tensions about immigration and Islam. That’s the pitch behind Mehmet Akif Büyükatalay’s behind-the-scenes thriller, Hysteria, which kicks off when a copy of the Koran is accidentally — or not — burnt on a film set. Footage of the scene then goes missing, making us wonder who could have stolen it.

The incident happens during the production of a drama about the 1993 arson attack in Soligen, in which five members of a Turkish family were killed when a gang of German skinheads set fire to their home. Büyükatalay uses the recreation of that event as the catalyst for a cleverly plotted whodunit that questions the nature of fictionalizing real-world violence, asking us who ultimately profits off such issue-driven movies.

As with any good mystery, we have to keep guessing which person the culprit...

'The Residence' Trailer Reveals Netflix Mystery Series Starring Uzo Aduba
Image
What could be more enticing than a game of Clue set in the elusive White House? The premise for the latest murder mystery from Netflix is simple: 132 rooms, 157 suspects, one dead body, and one eccentric detective. From producer Shonda Rhimes comes an eight-episode comedic murder mystery series starring Orange is the New Black's Uzo Aduba along with Marvel favorites Randall Park and Giancarlo Esposito. In preparation for the March 20 release, Netflix has released the trailer for The Residence, and it looks like a good old-fashioned whodunnit.

Home of the modern murder mystery Knives Out, which arguably brought the genre back to the mainstream, Netflix is expanding its mystery portfolio with the upcoming miniseries based on the novel The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House by Kate Andersen Brower. The comedic mystery thriller is produced by TV dynamo Rhimes, who has made more hit shows than one person can count.

‘Bone Face’ Review
Image
Stars: Jeremy London, Elena Sanchez, Alli Hart, Miles Doleac, Artrial Clark, Ritchie Montgomery, Laura Cayouette, Jared Bankens, David Kallaway | Written and Directed by Michael Donovan Horn

When a masked killer slaughters several campers in a small town, a sheriff and a deputy track the murderer to a local diner where, using their investigative skills, they must discover which person in the diner is the actual killer.

I will start this review with a warning. If you go into Bone Face (written and directed by Michael Donovan Horn) expecting a Friday the 13th summer camp slasher and hoping for a new horror icon then you’re going to be disappointed. Go watch Heart Eyes instead. But if you understand the perminters – there has been a mass murder at a summer camp and the vast majority of this film is working out from a small cast of characters in a diner who...

NCIS Season 22 Episode 12 Review: Fun and Games
Image
It’s not very often we get a Kasie-centric NCIS episode, so this was a treat.

And I’m even on board with the fact that it’s connected to a silly “adults playing some version of Dungeons and Dragons” storyline.

That’s not a diss on adults who play such games; it’s a diss on how the media portrays them.

(CBS)

Anyone who is into role-playing games always becomes a joke in the entertainment world, but would the world really be worse off if more people got together to play games, whether Dungeons and Dragons, Ferrets and Pheasants, Yahtzee, or Monopoly?

It’s got to be a lot better than sitting around in a group with your faces buried in your phone, ignoring one another. Hell, bring on game night!

(Michael Yarish/CBS)

McGee is also in the hot seat on NCIS Season 22 Episode 12 because the next Tom E Gemcity book has leaked.

'Clue' Meets the White House in Trailer for Shonda Rhimes' 'The Residence'
Image
132 rooms. 157 suspects. 1 dead body. That’s the premise behind The Residence, a comedic mystery thriller produced by Shonda Rhimes that's set to hit Netflix this March. Starring Uzo Aduba of Orange is the New Black fame, the new trailer for the series was recently released, and showcases all the drama and laughs we can expect from the Shondaland production, which also features a slew of other heavy hitters like Giancarlo Esposito, Susan Kelechi Watson, Jason Lee, Ken Marino, and Bronson Pinchot.

Inspired by the book The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House by Kate Andersen Brower, the trailer for Rhimes' latest (seen below) makes it seem like Clue set in the White House. It opens inside the hallowed halls of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, where we meet Aduba's character of Cordelia Cupp, a consultant with the Metropolitan Police Department who's tasked with unraveling the mystery behind a dead body...

Elijah Wood, Josh Hartnett, Jordana Brewster, Clea DuVall, Laura Harris, and Usher in The Faculty (1998)
The Faculty | Remake coming, Companion director Drew Hancock linked
Elijah Wood, Josh Hartnett, Jordana Brewster, Clea DuVall, Laura Harris, and Usher in The Faculty (1998)
The 1998 high school horror flick The Faculty is the next on the line to get the remake treatment. Drew Hancock is in line to direct.

Audiences seem to be having a good time with Drew Hancock’s feature debut, Companion. The horror comedy comes from Boulderlight, the same team that brought the wild horror, Barbarian into the world back in 2022. Following the success of that film, they seem to have the pick of many a horror project in Hollywood.

For Drew Hancock, that next project could well be a remake of the 1998 high school horror, The Faculty.

The original featured an ensemble of young talent including a young Elijah Wood and Josh Hartnett and was a fun film, a kind of late 90s teen horror spin on Invasion Of The Body Snatchers. Salma Hayek popped up, as did Robert Patrick and Famke Janssen. With Robert Rodriguez directing, the movie possessed his trademark kinetic style,...

The Real Story Behind Punk Rock Band Fear’s Anarchic Turn On ‘SNL’
Image
Punk rock band Fear caused mayhem on Saturday Night Live on Halloween in 1981, bringing a mosh-pit to Studio 8H for the first time.

Days after the show, rumors started to swirl that the band fronted by Lee Ving, who would later star as Mr. Body on cult movie Clue, was permanently banned from SNL as a result of the destruction caused.

Over 45 years later, Questlove, who has directed Ladies & Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music, which premieres on NBC on January 27, has uncovered the truth.

“I’ll occasionally read in the [NY] Post that so and so is banned for life. We’ve never banned anyone. We’re way too crass and opportunistic. If something’s hot, we’re going to go for it and have it on,” says creator Lorne Michaels.

How did a California punk band that once featured Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea end up performing on the hallowed NBC variety show?...

Metacritic's Highest-Rated Live-Action Video Game Movie Is An Overlooked 2021 Horror Comedy
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

For those who've only known an existence with home gaming consoles, it might feel wild to realize that the video game movie genre is still quite young. The first movie to be based on a pre-existing video game was Rocky Morton and Annabel Jankel's mangled-by-studio-interference adaptation of "Super Mario Bros.," a massive box office flop that caused studios to tap the brakes on future excursions in this newfangled genre. While 1995's sensibly budgeted "Mortal Kombat" turned a sizable profit for New Line, video game movies weren't viewed as potential blockbusters by the studios until "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" grossed $275 million worldwide in 2001. The floodgates opened over the next decade, but the movies were, with very few exceptions (Paul W.S. Anderson's first "Resident Evil" and Christophe Gans' "Silent Hill"), about as bad as movies get.

The video game movie turns 32 this year,...

The Horror Legend Who Was Inches Away From Directing Resident Evil Only Got That Far Because of an Insane Commercial
Image
It’s a well-known fact that the majority of video game adaptations on big screens are usually met with lackluster responses from audiences. Most of the casual theatergoers find them disappointing, and hardcore gamers feel the series didn’t live up to the original games.

Capcom’s horror video game franchise redefined movie adaptations. (Image via Capcom)

However, that wasn’t the case with the Resident Evil series. The original live-action film brought together a number of talented actors and success that led to several sequels. The entire series didn’t receive high praise from critics but would have achieved a lot more if one of the industry’s best horror directors got his hands on it.
