How The Ultimatum Queer Love Soundtrack Took The Show To The Next Level
Image
The Ultimatum: Queer Love is incredibly popular on Netflix, and while the premise of bending sexuality and gender in the show is groundbreaking, the soundtrack is also making waves. While Netflix can be heavy-handed with their use of music to comment on the scene's emotion, the songs in The Ultimatum: Queer Love are just too good to ignore. Unlike some of the music from shows such as Love Is Blind or Too Hot To Handle, the soundtrack of The Ultimatum: Queer Love provides an endless array of awesome music. Plus, it’s enjoyable to discover new music, even if the tunes are a little too obvious.

While the drama in The Ultimatum: Queer Love doesn’t need to be exacerbated by music, the soundtrack provides a stinger to important moments in the show. During the first three episodes, original couples Mal Wright and Yoly Rojas, Xander Boger and Vanessa Papa,...

David Hare at an event for The Reader (2008)
‘Collateral’: Creator David Hare Broke Every Rule He Could While Writing His First TV Show, and He Won’t Do a Season 2
David Hare at an event for The Reader (2008)
The reason two-time Academy Award nominee David Hare (“The Hours,” “The Reader”) wanted to write the BBC2/Netflix limited series “Collateral” is that he felt no one else was writing television about the issue at its center: Illegal immigration.

“I think the movement of people is the biggest subject of the 21st century and nobody’s writing about it,” he said to IndieWire in a recent interview. “In the last few summers, we’ve had attempted mass migration from Libya, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, from everywhere. People are trying to get into Western countries. And obviously the West is trying to protect itself against the arrival of these people. This is going to play out in the coming years. I wanted to write about it as a matter of urgency.”

The four-hour drama stars the stellar Carey Mulligan (“Mudbound,” “Drive,” “An Education”) as Di Kip Glaspie, a detective investigating the shooting...

Drive-In Dust Offs: Terror Train (1980)
At the turn of the ‘80s, Jamie Lee Curtis was The face of horror; by this point she had already starred in Halloween (1978), and cemented her position with three releases in 1980 alone – The Fog in February, Prom Night in July, and today’s title, Terror Train, in October. It was a banner year for her, and for horror fans alike – well, apart from that snoozy school picture. Terror Train was a great way to end her 1980, and a fitting way to cap off 2016, as it’s a – ta da! – New Year’s Eve movie. Climb aboard for a fun, surprisingly classy ride.

There just aren’t that many horror films that take advantage of the holiday. New Year’s Evil (also 1980) is probably the most well known, and uses the neat conceit of the killer performing a bad deed for every time zone to, sadly, dull effect. Terror Train doesn...

Star Trek: 12 Characters That Deserve Their Own Series
Star Trek has lately gained a lot of attention from the re-imagined J.J. Abrams’ films. Both did exceptionally well in the box office, shattering all expectations that a Trek film couldn’t crossover (so powerfully) into the mainstream. Literally shooting lightning into the heart of the Trek franchise and returning it to life, not necessarily for the hardcore fandom, but bridging the gap between mainstream film viewers and science fiction blockbuster film making. Breaking all the rules of a film franchise with a name and reputation that precedes it. With all of the attention the renewed franchise has gained, it’s likely, that a new series will eventually be gracing the small screen sometime soon.

While the logical course of action for those in control of Roddenberry’s universe is to have continuity and connection to the current films, we can still speculate for other central characters, ships, and locations...
