It's been a tough stretch for procedural television. Generally considered to be one of the most durable and consistent formats when it comes to scripted dramas, the procedural subsect has suffered some major hits over the last few years.

Fans have witnessed the cancelation of NCIS: Hawai'i, Blue Bloods, Swat and two different FBI shows, Most Wanted and International. Three of these cancelations have been unveiled in the last couple weeks alone. These cancelations have coincided with the announcement of several other franchise spinoffs, which led us to wonder why One Chicago has not attempted another show.

“Lady Bird” won big at the Chicago Film Critics Association Awards last night, taking home Best Picture, Best Actress (Saoirse Ronan), Best Supporting Actress (Laurie Metcalf), and Most Promising Filmmaker (Greta Gerwig) from the Windy City. “Call Me by Your Name” had a strong showing as well, picking up prizes for Best Actor (Timothée Chalamet, who also won Most Promising Performer) and Best Supporting Screenplay.

Christopher Dunkirk was named Best Director for his work on “Dunkirk,” with Willem Dafoe of “The Florida Project” winning yet another Best Supporting Actor laurel and Jordan Peele being honored with Best Original Screenplay for “Get Out.” Full list of winners below.

Common has found the reward in paying it forward.

Et caught up with the Oscar-winning rapper and actor during At&T’s Hello Lab Mentorship film event at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, California, last Friday, where he dished on helping "visionaries and artists be heard."

“I think one of my biggest rewards is to help other visionaries and artists be heard, to give them opportunities and platforms,” he told Et. “That’s been some of the most fulfilling things that I’ve been able to do in my life.”

Chicago – The education system of America has been ripe over the years for comedic skewering… and with today’s overindulgent parenting style, it’s never been a better time for those knowing laughs. The focus on parent teacher/conferences is the subject of the latest comedy web series, shot in Chicago, called “Other People’s Children.” (Opc).

Opc centers on Margot Antler (Astra Asdou), who dreams of becoming a renowned novelist, but in reality she’s a rookie second grade teacher who is about to experience the insanity of parent/teacher conferences for the first time. The series develops as a series of vignettes, as Margot finds herself at conferences where the adults behave worst than their children. In those encounters, it’s not so much the second graders who have problems, but rather their post millennial parents.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus was feeling extra thankful this Thanksgiving. 

The 56-year-old actress took to Instagram on Thursday to wish her fans well on the holiday, which she spent in Chicago, Illinois, with her family. 

Louis-Dreyfus, who is battling breast cancer, met and fell in love with her husband, Brad Hall, in the Windy City, while attending Northwestern University. The couple's 20-year-old son, Charlie Hall, is currently a student there. 

"Happy Thanksgiving early morning in Chicago. I love this town," the Veep star captioned a gorgeous pic of the city, before sharing an adorable photo of herself and her hubby visiting their old stopping grounds. 

"Our old apartment on the lake on the north side of Chicago where we happily lived In Sin.#thankful," she wrote. 

Louis-Dreyfus, who is also mom to 24-year-old son Henry, revealed her breast cancer diagnosis in September. The Emmy winner has continued to keep fans updated on her chemotherapy treatments and progress since.

Lena Waithe is following up her historic Emmy win with an ambitious new venture: After winning a trophy for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series, Waithe is tackling a drama series set in her sweet home, Chicago.

“The Chi,” created and produced by Waithe, “explores the humanity behind the headlines sensationalizing the South Side of Chicago.” The first season was shot entirely in the Windy City and will track the lives of children growing up in the city, teens looking for love, and adults dealing with very adult issues, including police corruption, excessive force, and gang violence.

A couple known for their memorable one-day stint in the Windy City are expanding their relationship with their fans. Jaelin and Brianna White, whose 'Chicago Story' drew a polarizing response last year, have launched an apparel line called 4Amor.

The line includes hoodies, t-shirts, and tote bags, most of which are emblazoned with the phrase "we plan God laughs." Prices range between $10 and $40. The target audience for the apparel line are the 587,000 people who subscribe to Brianna's channel to watch her makeup tutorials, her haul videos, and her vlogs with Jaelin. "I've always been really shy, so it's been hard for me to make friends," Brianna White told Tubefilter. "I look at my fans as my best friends! They are always there to give me advice, and pick me up when I am down. I am inspired by every single one of them, and hope to meet them all in my lifetime!

Not even past presidents can avoid being called in for jury duty.

Former President Barack Obama honored his civic obligations in Chicago on Wednesday morning, reporting for jury duty at the Windy City’s Daley Center with his Secret Service detail in tow.

Earlier, Obama was seen leaving his home in Chicago’s Kenwood neighborhood with a motorcade of black SUVs, CNN reported. After he arrived at the Daley Center, Obama shook hands with fellow would-be jurors and autographed copies of his books.

The former president was ultimately dismissed without having to serve on a jury, the Chicago Tribune reported.

A year and a half after splitting, Christina and Tarek El Moussa still have a strong professional relationship.

The Flip or Flop stars were spotted working together in Yorba Linda, California, on Thursday, as news broke that Christina, 34, had split from her boyfriend Doug Spedding, 55.

In Touch first reported that Christina had ended her romance with the businessman, who has entered an in-patient rehabilitation center for addiction issues.

A source confirmed the breakup to People, saying Christina “supports Doug’s decision to seek treatment and remains in contact to support his recovery.”

Christina and Spedding had been dating since this summer.

This past June, the Hills star celebrated her fourth wedding anniversary with husband Jay Cutler, who recently signed a one-year, $10 million contract with the Miami Dolphins.

Despite “a bit of a [time] jump,” the episode will, “emotionally, in many ways, pick up from where” last May’s cliffhanger left off, with Lindsay’s ex-boyfriend Jay Halstead and her surrogate father Hank Voight still coping with her sudden departure.

First up is a discussion on easily one of the greatest horror movies of the last 20 years, Rob Zombie’s The Devil’s Rejects, between two of the film’s co-stars, William Forsythe and Lew Temple.
