The third season of HBO’s hit controversial show Euphoria has been delayed due to a bevy of reasons, but HBO boss Casey Bloys said last month that the series should commence very soon. “We are shooting Euphoria,” Bloys said. “I think we have a start date, mid to late January. Nothing’s changed. Somebody said something online, and then this whole thing started. We are shooting the season. I have read the scripts. We’re happy. We’re moving ahead. All of the actors are in the show.“
Very little is known about this season. Apparently, even one of the show’s breakout stars, Colman Domingo, hasn’t yet seen a script, but he has been hyped about returning ever since discussing it with the series creator, who is coming off of the equally controversial HBO series The Idol. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Domingo appeared on an episode of the U.

This week, Elton John’s “Tammy Faye” musical closed on Broadway after only 24 previews and 29 regular performances. Although the show, about the rise and fall of televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker, concluded its run on Dec. 8 as the Rocket Man’s worst-performing musical in New York following blockbuster successes “The Lion King,” “Billy Elliot: The Musical,” and “Aida,” “Tammy Faye” is hardly the only original musical with a religious theme to shutter unceremoniously in the past decade-plus. With the notable exception of “The Book of Mormon,” with its nine Tony Awards and 5,000 performances and counting, audiences have been singing from a different hymn sheet than these faith-based offerings.
In 2010, John’s fellow Egot champion Alan Menken brought a musical adaptation of the Steve Martin film “Leap of Faith” to Broadway with Tony nominee Raúl Esparza as the show’s conman who poses as a pastor to swindle Kansas townspeople. Despite the...

After nabbing a Golden Globe nomination for his starring turn in A24’s prison theater drama Sing Sing, Colman Domingo spoke with Deadline about his upcoming Michael Jackson biopic, Michael, films he’s directing on Sammy Davis Jr. and Nat King Cole, his mission as an artist at this stage of his career, and more.
When it came to Michael, Domingo said, “The most special thing was working with Jaafar Jackson, who is Michael Jackson’s nephew. He is a revelation…one of the most gentle and most phenomenal souls.”
To the actor, “It’s as if a piece of Michael Jackson’s talent… I feel like some of that landed on Jaafar Jackson because he’s a revelation, just watching him. I just want to put so much love around him because he’s going to deliver a very complex portrait of one of the greatest performers that have ever walked this planet.

According to Bowen Yang, Sydney Sweeney was “game” for anything during her March 2024 viral “SNL” hosting gig.
Yang said during First We Feast’s “Hot Ones” that he at first was concerned about the “Bowen Straight” sketch needing an intimacy coordinator. The skit has Sweeney finding out Yang is straight, and then having an affair with the openly queer cast member. Yet Sweeney assured Yang that “Euphoria” more than prepared her for their onscreen “SNL” intimate scene.
“Pitching ‘Bowen Straight’ to Sydney Sweeney was really fun,” Yang said. “I just remember being like, ‘We’re going to need an intimacy coordinator for this and it’s going to be completely up to your comfort,’ and then she was like ‘Bowen, I’m on “Euphoria,” it’s not going to be anything.’ So that was really fun and she was so game for it and she was wonderful.”

Colman Domingo just might be the most prolific man in Hollywood.
Just on the TV side alone, Domingo is currently in production on Netflix’s “The Four Seasons” reimagining, and now the trailer for his other Netflix series “The Madness” has been released. Domingo sure knows how to stay busy.
The actor plays Muncie Daniels, a political consultant-turned-tv pundit who takes a work sabbatical to write the next great American novel. While in the Poconos on his writing retreat, though, Muncie finds himself as the only witness to the murder of a well-known white supremacist, and now he’s being framed for the crime.
Per the official synopsis, “Muncie is forced to go on the run in a desperate fight to clear his name and unravel a global conspiracy before time runs out. Along the way he’ll reconnect with his family, find unlikely allies, and fight against disinformation in a post-truth age.

The rise of Lance Oppenheim continues unabated: within 12 months of Spermworld and Ren Faire comes the news he’ll be directing Primetime, a feature backed by A24 and Robert Pattinson’s Icki Eneo Arlo. Per sources (including some from which this writer’s heard directly), Ajon Singh’s script takes direct inspiration from NBC’s To Catch a Predator and its notorious host Chris Hansen; Deadline‘s article plays into that, noting rumors the film concerns “a journalist who takes on an underworld of crime and changes television forever.” Whether Pattinson also stars remains uncertain.

The project, Scandalous, is scripted by Matthew Fantaci and concerns the fire-setting affair between Novak and Sammy Davis Jr. (David Jonsson). Um, was this an episode of The Ark or a very dark and gritty episode of Impractical Jokers? “It Will Be Over Soon” played like an episode of Big Brother that turned into a “reverse heist.” Is that a thing?
Either way, the writers and hands behind this episode certainly made good use of every second. With this being the last episode before the finale, there’s no time to waste on anything other than the main plot.
You know things are only going to get worse before they get better. I also have a sneaking suspicion we are about to see the return of an “ally” to The Ark.

If you’re going to be a Chicago Fire fan, you’re going to have to get used to saying goodbye.
The fact is, this show is packed with unlucky characters who meet untimely ends.
Because it’s a show about responding to emergencies, the episodes often involve the death of a minor character, and sometimes those stick with you long after the credits roll.

Several Chicago Fire deaths have shaken us, broken us, and left us crying into our pillows.
In the first twelve seasons, we said goodbye to an outrageous number of beloved heroes and unlucky victims.
Some hurt more than others, and at this point we’re holding our breath.
If we lose any of the remaining cast, there just might be a riot.

Mama, the straights are not okay because these kids on Tell Me Lies are wildin’ out with Nick Cannon and have got me plucked! Listen, I am all about the drama, but these children are mess, mess, messy!
If you had told me a year ago that I would be this invested in a show about the most extra and dramatic college kids ever, I would’ve said you’d never catch me watching a single frame.
Well, we will call this growth something that the characters on Tell Me Lies desperately need. Even the adult characters who should know better seem just as childish. It is pettiness to the max, and I love it!

We may only be two episodes into High Potential, but Kaitlin Olson and ABC have a certified hit on their hands!
I am not usually a procedural kind of guy. However, this show is making me reevaluate my interests! Miss Morgan is a whole vibe, and despite her eccentric nature, I feel like I know people like her — including people with a wealth of random knowledge.
High Potential has proven that it’s a series with enough potential to last for years. Interestingly, I’ve heard it both ways about this show. Some people were hooked instantly and loved it. Others didn’t find the character relatable and took issue with a few aspects of the show.
(Carlos Lopez-Calleja/Disney)
I am here to tell you that I heard you, and there are things I can agree with from both camps.

Witches, and ghosts, and vampires, oh my! AMC is solidifying itself as the go-to network for visually compelling and brilliantly written fantasy shows, and The Talamasca is ready to continue that trend.
Furthering the expansion of the Immortal Universe of Anne Rice’s novels, the network has had more success than anyone could have expected with its supernatural stories.
Unlike the current entries in the Immortal Universe, The Talamasca will be a different kind of show. Where there is a central supernatural focus for Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches, The Talamasca will explore every supernatural avenue.
(Courtesy of AMC)
The name likely won’t mean much to anyone who isn’t a fan of the Anne Rice novels. Even if you watched the Interview with the Vampire film, The Talamasca would be foreign to you.
However, if you enjoyed the Queen of The Damned with the late Aaliyah in the titular role,...

Crash begins with Kehlani Parrish tumbling through watery depths. “I’m kind of crazy,” they sing as a backing chorus trills lightly in a reflection of asphyxia. When they hit the ocean’s floor, the beat switches on “GrooveTheory” into a slow, sinuous cut, the kind that will be familiar to fans of the non-binary singer’s vibrant, iconoclastic past work, which has exerted a major influence on the queering of contemporary Black pop. “Come talk with me/Wanna get you open,” they sing.
What unfolds on Crash proves to be anything but formulaic.

At this year’s Tony Awards, there are three actresses in contention for two separate performances in two separate productions they’ve appeared in this past season. They are Carolee Carmello, Crystal Lucas-Perry, and Phillipa Soo. Will any of them land at least one Tony nomination on May 2? Let’s go over each of the three.
Back in the fall, Carmello played John Dickinson in a limited run of Roundabout Theatre Company’s revival of “1776.” Now she’s playing the wicked stepmother in Andrew Lloyd Webber‘s newest musical, “Bad Cinderella.” Carmello has been nominated three times before. First in 1999 for the original production of “Parade,” then in 2006 for “Lestat,” and in 2013 for “Scandalous.”
As she is on the ballot for Best Featured Actress in a Musical twice, it’s possible she could split her support in the nominating process. However, what could hurt her more from getting nominated...

“Almost Famous” (previews begin October 3; opens November 3)
In this stage musical adaptation of Cameron Crowe’s 2000 Academy Award-winning film, William Miller is an idealistic 15-year-old aspiring music journalist. When Rolling Stone magazine hires him to go on the road with an up-and-coming band, he is thrust into the rock-and-roll circus, where his love of music, his longing for friendship, and his integrity as a writer collide.
This musical has a book written by Crowe, who also co-wrote the score with Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Tom Kitt.

The California Film Commission announced the latest round of tax credits for film productions on Monday, and once again Netflix emerged as the big winner.
The streaming giant was awarded $60.3 million in state credits, far outpacing Disney ($27.2 million), Warner Bros. ($16.2 million) and Amazon ($16 million). Netflix also led the way in the last round of credits in August 2021, taking $43.3 million.
This time, Netflix was granted credits for four projects: “Atlas,” “Beverly Hills Cop 4,” “Family Leave” and “Unfrosted.”
The latter project stars Jerry Seinfeld in an origin story about the Pop Tart, and was awarded $14.2 million in credits.
“We are so happy to get the California tax credit which enables us to make our whole movie there,” said Seinfeld, who is also writing, directing and producing the film for Netflix. “Having made all of the ‘Seinfeld’ series in L.A., I very much wanted to come back and shoot there again.

Kathie Lee Gifford is just getting started.
Sure, fans have been welcoming the former “Live With Regis and Kathie Lee” and “Today” co-host into their living rooms for decades. And yes, there are the Daytime Emmy nominations, her short-lived Broadway musical “Scandalous,” hit songs, books, her wine brand and various films and TV roles. Yet Gifford — a born entertainer and perennial dreamer — truly believes the best is yet to come as she continues her 67th turn around the sun and cements her place in Hollywood history with a star on the Walk of Fame.
“I am finally doing what I was born to do,” Gifford says. “There’s a happiness in me now, just when so many other people are retiring and doing whatever they’ve always longed to do. I never stopped doing what I was born to do, but now I have the freedom to totally and completely pursue it.

Cannes — Agc Television, the TV production-distribution division of Stuart Ford’s still fast expanding independent content studio Agc Studios, has landed worldwide rights to another high-profile doc-series which it describes as “probing” and “explosive”: Oliver Stone’s “JFK: Destiny Betrayed.”
The acquisition was announced early Monday by Agc Television president Lourdes Diaz.
The acquisition continues Agc Television substantial investment in non-fiction which is in high-demand in the streaming and premium cable space, allowing operators to reach diverse audience segments with high-profile original content at relatively modest cost.
Few filmmakers are as high-profile as Oliver Stone and“JFK” has proved the most controversial of his films. In my lifetime, I have always known The National Inquirer to be a trashy, fake news source that didn’t base any of its reports in reality, and just figured old people either thought it was real or liked the absurdity of it. This trailer for the documentary film Scandalous sheds an interesting light on the history of the tabloid and the real extent the staff went to to get photos and stories in deceptive and scandalous ways.
The doc interviews employees of the rag who are pretty frank about the seedy and underhanded clientele with which they dealt, even talking about bribes and payoffs they took from the rich and famous.
Here’s the synopsis:
Sex! Gossip! Scandal! For over 60 years, the National Enquirer has pumped out salacious, shocking stories, stretching the limits of journalism and blurring the lines between truth and fiction. Scandalous is the sensational true story...

"Look at the Enquirer in the realm of pop culture, rather than journalism." Magnolia Pictures has debuted an official trailer for the documentary Scandalous, directed by doc filmmaker Mark Landsman. The film is a thrilling, eye-opening look at how this newspaper fed into the desires of many Americans to become obsessed with the rich, famous, and powerful people. "From its coverage of Elvis's death, to Monica Lewinsky and the O.J. Simpson murder trial, the National Enquirer rattled the foundations of American culture and politics, sometimes allegedly using payoffs and blackmail to get its scoops." This looks entertaining but also very frightening, a glimpse into how one paper can manipulate the minds of many, and turn them into addicts for gossip and scandal. Enjoy. Here's the first official trailer...
