'The Last of Us' Creator Talks Controversial Joel & Ellie Changes in Latest Episode
Image
Warning: Beware, Spoilers for The Last of Us Season Episode 6 "The Price" lie ahead.

Episode six of The Last of Us Season 2 featured Pedro Pascal's surprise return as Joel. The show took a break from Ellie's quest for vengeance for a flashback episode centered around the duo and their days in Jackson. Centered around Ellie's birthdays over the course of five years, episode six is an emotional one that chronicles the slow deterioration of their relationship, leading up to the fateful night before Joel's death. The show makes a stark departure from the game, choosing to have an entire episode's worth of flashbacks rather than scattering them throughout the season.

As it turns out, episode director Neil Druckmann (who also created and directed the two Last of Us games) intentionally changed the structure and placement of the flashbacks. Druckmann revealed to Deadline that the change was necessary due...

The Last of Us creator explains why Ellie is "slightly different" from the game
Image
The second season of The Last of Us begins with Joel and Ellie at odds. In the most recent episode, "The Price," we finally find out what happened between them, thanks to a series of flashbacks that stretch back to Ellie's 15th birthday all the way up the night before he's brutally killed in the second episode of the season.

Actually, they go back farther than that: the episode opens with a flashback to Joel's childhood, where he has a frank discussion with his father. "Even now that Joel is dead in the show, you still feel his presence, partially through Dina, but mostly through Ellie, who’s trying to be like him. Sometimes she succeeds, sometimes she’s in over her head. So there’s this idea of like, a lot of our programming comes from our parents," episode director Neil Druckmann — who also worked on The Last of Us...

The Last of Us’ Kaitlyn Dever Finally Elaborates on Almost Playing Ellie
Image
The Last of Us is a masterpiece video game that tackles raw human emotions from start to finish. It was an emotional rollercoaster that was too good for an interactive experience, and later became a television series that rivals the quality of storytelling from the source material.

Casting is one of the difficult aspects in live-action adaptations, and at one point, Kaitlyn Dever was in the running for the lead role for the live-action movie that never saw the light of day. Dever eventually was cast as Abby Anderson opposite Bella Ramsey’s Ellie Williams in the HBO adaptation and recalled the role that got away.

The Last Of Us: Joel’s Death Sparks Ellie’s Brutal Revenge & Abby’s Redemption In Season 2
Image
Abby And Lev Walking Through Burned City ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Joel’s death wasn’t just a plot twist, it was a gut-punch, a chair-throwing, scream-at-your-tv moment that left fans reeling (and rage-Googling “does Joel really die??” in all caps). Season 2 of The Last of Us came in hot, swinging a golf club and tearing up hearts in the process. While game players braced themselves for the hit, nothing quite prepares you for seeing Pedro Pascal get absolutely wrecked in HD.

Now with Joel officially out of the picture, fans are left wondering, where the heck does the story go from here? The answer lies in a complex mess of grief, revenge, cults, and a whole lot of infected chaos. But don’t worry, Ellie’s just getting started, and things are about to get a whole lot darker, messier, and emotionally exhausting in the best way. Ready or not,...

The Last Of Us Season 2 Episode 2 Ending Explained: Joel’s Brutal Death Leaves Ellie Shattered!
Image
Joel’s Final Moments In Episode 2(Photo Credit –Facebook)

The Last of Us season 2, episode 2 doesn’t just tiptoe into chaos, it cannonballs straight into heartbreak and horror. Titled “Through the Valley,” this gut-punch of an episode pulls zero punches, giving fans what they feared (but knew was coming): the brutal demise of Joel. HBO didn’t just adapt the game’s most controversial moment, they nailed it to the wall with emotional shrapnel and a full-on infected war zone.

While the Jackson community was still gossiping about Ellie and Dina’s kiss, fate had much bigger plans, namely, a horde of infected, Abby with a vendetta, and a farewell to the man who carried season 1 on his back. By the time the credits roll, Joel’s gone, Jackson’s scorched, and Ellie’s officially the main character of a much darker, grittier tale. It’s the end of...

‘You’ – 7 Worst Things Joe Goldberg Did Will Make You Nervous for Season 5
Image
The world really went haywire when Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble’s live-action adaptation of You from Caroline Kepnes’ psychological thriller books of the same name made its way to the TV screens back in 2018. Starring Penn Badgley in the lead as the dangerously charming yet obsessive Joe Goldberg, it really did trek along the lines of the question: How far will you go for love?

For Goldberg, though, this ‘far‘ ostensibly never felt like far enough. The crimes he pulled throughout the series are heinous as he used every tool at his disposal to get close to the women of his dreams—the very ones he found himself frequently smitten with due to their beauty and smarts. This included him removing any obstacles—even people—standing in his way as well.

That said, there are inevitably more than just a few egregious...

Up's Heartbreaking Montage Just Got A Live-Action Remake In $185 Million Movie
Image
Up's iconic montage captured the hearts of fans and set a high standard for emotional storytelling in animated films. While If's opening sequence shares similarities with Up, it fails to establish a connection with the audience. Despite the differences, If delivers a heartwarming story that appeals to viewers' inner children and has a satisfying conclusion.

The heartbreaking montage at the beginning of the animated film Up finally got a live-action remake in John Krasinski's $185 million movie. Pixar's Up is notorious for Carl and Ellie's montage in the movie's opening sequence. In just a few minutes, viewers watch the trajectory of their happy lives up until the twist of Ellie's death. Viewers will never forget the sheer joy and satisfaction of watching Carl and Ellie living their best lives together, only to end in such a heartbreaking twist within the film's first five minutes.

Now they have planned a third album, Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees, due out Oct. 6, and a sleek new video for the song “Breach.”

Where Joel & Ellie Are Going At The End Of Last Of Us Episode 2
Image
The Last of Us episode 2 ended with Tess' death, meaning Joel and Ellie continued their journey alone to a specific destination. After encountering two Clickers in a museum earlier in the episode, Joel, Tess, and Ellie continued to the State House to give Ellie to the Fireflies. However, the Fireflies in the State House were either dead or infected, with the latter also applying to Tess, who was bitten by one of the Clickers.

Tess, with newfound desperation to complete their mission due to her negative turn from the bite causing her to believe in Ellie's immunity more than ever, implores Joel to deliver Ellie to the Fireflies. The Other One (2017)
The Other One’s Holly Walsh: secret families ‘more common than you think’
The Other One (2017)
“I’ve got another family in Telford that I’ve never spoken about,” announces comedian and writer Holly Walsh on a Zoom press call. “Luckily, by writing this, it’s tax deductible.”

She’s joking of course. Since writing a sitcom pilot about two step-sisters who only discover each other’s existence after their dad’s death, Walsh keeps being asked if the premise is autobiographical. It isn’t, but The Other One is inspired by a true story she heard about a man with two families who gave his kids the same name to avoid confusion or being sprung. “I thought that’s such a brilliant story.”

Walsh and her writing partner Pippa Brown turned it into a six-episode sitcom about uptight, high-achieving Cathy (The Windsors and Ellie & Natasia‘s Ellie White) and freewheeling, fun-seeking Cat (Catastrophe and Misfits’ Lauren Socha). Half-sisters just five days apart in age, they...
