IFC Films, one of the leading foreign and independent film distributors, today launches a new genre label called IFC Midnight. IFC Midnight will offer the very best in international genre cinema, including horror, sci-fi, thrillers, erotic arthouse, action and more. Four new IFC midnight films will premiere each month on video-on-demand; select titles will also be released in theaters at the same time as their VOD premiere. President of IFC Entertainment Jonathan Sehring said: “Many of our most successful VOD titles are those that might fall under the Midnight label – not just films that are straight up horror, erotic arthouse or genre films but also ones that shock audiences, push boundaries and stir up controversy – so officially creating IFC Midnight was the logical next step. Terminator Salvation (Director’s Cut) Blu-ray Review
I’m finding that there are some movies that I like more upon a second viewing. It could be that once expectations are set aside (either upheld or smashed upon the first viewing) that it’s easier to accept a movie a bit more… forgivingly. While I certainly still don’t love Terminator Salvation (click link for my initial review), I’ll have to admit I found myself enjoying it more the second time around.

Terminator Salvation is released on DVD and Blu-ray this week, and I’ll be giving you the specs and a review of the Blu-ray director’s cut version right here.

The film wasn’t the huge hit the studio was hoping for in the U.S., bringing in only $125Mm. However it did much better overseas, bringing it’s worldwide total to a respectable $371Mm. As far as reviews go, it earned a 32% positive rating at Rotten Tomatoes,...

DVD Releases: Nov. 3, 2009: See the Beast Within your Dark Mirror
It's a Foy-a-palooza this week with several releases that have his name all over them like Beast Within, Mutants (not the French film of the same name), Night Watcher, and Sand Serpents. Mixed in with those are the more promising sounding Dark Mirror and a four-pack of Hitchcock classics that includes Suspicion, Strangers on a Train, The Wrong Man, and I Confess.

In addition, at the end of the list you'll find nine films that are being re-released in "keepcase" versions. The cream of that crop is definitely the original House of Wax with Vincent Price and the still effective giant ant fright flick Them!.

www.luminaseries.com

Review by Jessica Baxter

Written, directed and produced by Jennifer Thym, Lumina is a nine-part web series set in a complex universe of rival realms that are secretly politicizing unbeknownst to the people of modern day Hong Kong. Lumina is a beautiful young girl who is inadvertently drawn into a world she doesn’t understand. Recently broken-hearted, she has immersed herself in work and become the star employee at some sort of think tank. It’s not until she meets the man in the mirror that she realized just how lonely she’s been...

The man in the mirror is Ryder, who can see her in all reflective surfaces via a special mirror he has acquired in his world, the Dark Realm. Lumina knows very little about his world,...

1999: A Year In Review (Part One)
Many films come out every year with critics and fans alike, compiling lists of their bests and worsts. There are also many films that fall between the cracks, only to be discovered years later. Many critics believe that one of the best years in cinema was 1939, when Gone with the Wind and The Wizard of Oz were released alongside many other classic gems.

Personally, I’ve always felt that 1999 was an epic year for movies, providing us with so many interesting films. In fact, 1999 was such a good year for movies that even some of the bad ones are still worth watching!

So, please sit back and put your memory caps on as Screen Rant takes on a retrospective of 1999 in the world of film.

In 1999, the world was a very different place. We were on the cusp of a new millennium and 9/11 was something that nobody - not even...

Zoe Saldana Makes Them Believe In "The Skeptic"
By Edwin Pagán, for Latin Horror

Seems like 2009 is the year when our marketable Latina actresses are taking the plunge into the darker side of the industry's genre landscape. First we mentioned here [http://tinyurl.com/cs4set] that Salma Hayek is riding a leading role in Paul Weitz' Cirque Du Freak as the bearded lady of sideshow fame, now another venerable talent, Zoe Saldana (Vantage Point, The Terminal, Premium, Guess Who), is set to hone her cognitive powers in the haunted-house thriller, The Skeptic, which was written/helmed by Tennyson Bardwell (Dorian Blues) and hits theater in a limited run on May 1st at the IFC Center in New York and elsewhere. The film also stars Tim Daly, Tom Arnold, Andrea Roth, Edward Herrmann, Robert Prosky and Bruce Altman. The project marks Bardwell's second feature outing.

The suspense thriller follows a skeptical lawyer (Daly) who moves into a haunted mansion after the unexplained...
