V (1984)

Trivia

V

Edit
The character Diana was ranked #5 in TV Guide's 25 Greatest Sci-Fi Legends (August 1, 2004 issue).
It is claimed in one of the V novels, that the Visitor technology was stolen from an alien species that the Visitors were fighting against. The Tzikk. The space craft, the weapons, the shuttles, everything they utilise. And that the serious environmental difficulties were caused due to a last ditch effort by the Tzikk to inflict maximum damage by sending a mothership on a collision course with the Visitor home planet which on impact caused nuclear devastation on a level never before witnessed. The only way to survive was to capture the enemy vessels. One of the female visitors who was against the Earth invasion had a medal for taking part in this battle. The Tzikk were eventually wiped out.
The second theme was originally written for V : la bataille finale (1984). The producers chose Barry De Vorzon's and Joseph Conlan's music instead for the miniseries, so it was shelved until The Champion (1985), when it replaced the series' original theme music.
The propensity of the Visitors to wear human skin, even after it was fully known they were lizard like by the humans, is explained in several V novels as being a trait designed by Diana where Visitors had lived in their skin disguises for years before reaching Earth, and had grown to prefer their human form rather than their natural state. Even so, for the television series, several episodes showed Visitors in their lizard state, since there had been so few appearances in the precursor mini-series.
The proper name of the aliens' species is never revealed. They are only called by the Earth-centric name Visitors or the slang term Lizards.
