Transformers Studio Series Elita-1 accurately brings her latest rendition to life, with the toy being perhaps the most accurate rendition of the film design. These new images are from a Japanese Amazon listing, showing the toy from several different angles. These are third-party figures based on the classic Cassetticons Overkill and Slugfest, who are perhaps the most overlooked minions of the Decepticon communications officer, Soundwave. Dr. Wu has become one of the premiere third-party companies for unofficial Transformers action figures, with the company producing several animation-accurate toys. The lineup is about to be bolstered with four new toys, two of which homage the brand's most esoteric Generation 1 releases.

Dw-E37 Leap, Dw-E38 Pulse Gun & Dw E-39 Wheel Hub are Dr. Wu's take on G1 Cliffjumper, Shockwave and Hubcap, the latter of whom has a strange connection to both Cliffjumper and Bumblebee. Meant to be in scale with modern Micromaster toys, these figures recreate the characters' Generation 1 animation models with loads of unexpected articulation. Likewise, Shockwave/Pulse Gun will also receive another, far more obscure color scheme, while fans can even get something extra for the two Autobots if they pre-order the toys. This is along with reissues of previous releases that tie into Hasbro and Takara's official Transformers toys.

If you were a kid of the 1980s your childhood was filled with some of the most amazing cartoon adventures in history. Now we have seen reboots and live-action films. But that was quite a few years ago. For many, many years, we had heard rumours of movies and new series, but all those came to nothing. The great New Zealand-born actor Clive Revill has passed away at the age of 94. He died in Sherman Oaks, California, having succumbed to dementia on March 11. The sad news was confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter by his daughter, Kate Selsby Revill-Oglesby. Revill's storied career encompassed performances on the stage, silver screen, and television, and spanned from Shakespeare to horror and Star Trek to Star Wars, and included many voice-acting credits.

Revill, who would have turned 95 on April 18, entered the Star Trek universe in 1991, when he guest starred as Sir Guy of Gisbourne in the fourth-season Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “Qpid.” The character seeks to marry Maid Marian/Vash (Jennifer Hetrick) and ultimately clashes with Robin Hood/Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) and his Merry Men, a/k/a Dr. Crusher (Gates McFadden), Worf (Michael Dorn), Data (Brent Spiner), Riker (Jonathan Frakes), and Troi (Marina Sirtis).

Clive Revill, the actor known for voicing Emperor Palpatine in “The Empire Strikes Back” (1980), died March 11 in Sherman Oaks, Calif. He was 94.

Revill’s death after a long battle with dementia was confirmed to Variety by his daughter Kate.

Over the years, Revill starred in “Kaleidoscope” (1966) alongside Warren Beatty, “The Assassination Bureau” (1969) with Oliver Reed and Diana Rigg and played the fire marshall in “Robin Hood: Men in Tights” (1993). Revill worked with director Billy Wilder on both “The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes” (1970) and “Avanti!” (1972), which starred Jack Lemmon. Revill received a Golden Globe nomination back in 1973 for his supporting role in “Avanti!”

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Revill died on March 11 while at a care facility in Sherman Oaks, California. According to his daughter, Kate Revill, her father died following a battle with dementia. He was 94 years old.

Revill is known to Star Wars fans for his role in the original cut of 1980's Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back. After he worked with director Irvin Kerschner on 1966's A Fine Madness, Revill was called upon to record some dialogue to be used for the voice of the emperor, in which the character is presented as a holographic projection. In the next movie, Return of the Jedi, Ian McDiarmid took over the role of the emperor, and in the 2004 DVD release of The Empire Strikes Back, McDiarmid's version was used to...

By the early 1990s, the legendary Transformers franchise had already fallen out of favor in the West as a cartoon and toyline. Having ended its first incarnation beforehand, Hasbro prepped the brand to be rebooted into the ultimately failed Transformers: Generation 2. It hadn't ended yet in Japan, however, which is where the property had gotten its start. Before Japan put the series on ice, however, there were a few more chapters left in the Generation 1 story.

Transformers: The Battlestars was the media representation for the Transformers: Return of Convoy toyline, and it was the first Japanese incarnation of the G1 subseries to not receive a corresponding anime. Fairly esoteric in the West, it represented the waning days of the brand in Japan. Now, it's being revived via the latest toyline for the series, with its incarnation of Optimus Prime being its most notable legacy.

Michael Bay's first Transformers movie is now trending on Netflix. Prior to directing Transformers, many of Michael Bay's best movies were already within the action genre, with some of them also being part of larger franchises. He directed Bad Boys and Bad Boys II, the first installments of the successful franchise that most recently released a fourth movie, Bad Boys: Ride or Die earlier in 2024. It performed well at the box office and has led to the possibility of the series continuing with Bad Boys 5.

Between Bad Boys in 1995 and Bad Boys II in 2003, Bay directed the standalone movies The Rock, Armageddon, and Pearl Harbor. Via Agoro, New Zealand Mint is releasing a new 40th-anniversary Transformers coin, with the design recreating the head of Generation 1 Bumblebee. Worth its weight in both energon and silver, its limited mintage reflects the franchise's big milestone. "Transformers" does not have a singular creator — that's what happens when a story begins for commercial reasons, not artistic ones. During the 1980s, toy giant Hasbro imported several Japanese action figures of transforming robots. The Reagan administration had also loosened regulations on advertising in children's entertainment, so now Hasbro just needed a story to sell these "Transformers."

That call was answered by Marvel Comics, who Hasbro had already partnered with Marvel to develop their "G.I. Joe" series. In 1981, writer Larry Hama was pitching a new Nick Fury series. Then in came Hasbro, who wanted creative input for their planned action figure line "G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero." Marvel's Editor-in-Chief Jim Shooter first suggested the idea of G.I. Joe as a anti-terrorism team, and proposed that Hama fold his ideas for Nick Fury into "G.I. Joe." Cue an ongoing "Joe" comic written by Hama, published by Marvel hitting stands in 1982.

Morgan Lofting, who helped bring to life multiple iconic characters with her voiceover work, has died. She was 84 years old.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Lofting died "unexpectedly" on Wednesday at her home in Burbank, California. No additional details were shared about her passing, though Lofting's death was confired by her agents, Nery Lemus and Christopher Arsaga of CelebWorx. In a statement, the two noted, “As one of the 10 founding actors at our agency, she meant the world to us and our company."

Lofting was born on Feb. 2, 1940, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her career as a voiceover artist began in 1979 when she started voicing the role of Princess Invidia for the TV series Star Blazers. She followed this up with her casting at the voice of Aunt May Parker in the animated Spider-Man series that aired in the early 1980s; Lofting also provided the voice of Black Cat for the cartoon show.

To most fans familiar with the world of the Transformers, Optimus Prime is the unquestionable leader of the Autobots. This has remained the case across various continuities and timelines, with even the Autobots' Maximal descendants being led by the similarly-named Optimus Primal.
