‘Avengers: Doomsday’: Did Channing Tatum Finish His Doctor Doom Fight Scene?
Image
Channing Tatum is all set to return as Gambit in the upcoming crossover epic, Avengers: Doomsday. In a recent interview with Variety, the actor revealed he has already filmed a key scene against Robert Downey Jr.’s main antagonist, Doctor Doom, that includes a “big fight”.

While the actor refused to elaborate much further than that, Tatum did reveal he injured his leg during the shoot. As a result, his stunt double took the lead on most of the scenes while Tatum sat in for his lines and the close-up shots.

With filming of Doomsday currently underway, it must be one of the worst times to get so critically injured.

Channing Tatum’s ‘Roofman’ Reinvention: Why He Wanted to Play a Real-Life Criminal for Derek Cianfrance’s Surprising Film and How He’s Reviving Gambit for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Image
Channing Tatum has a bum leg. If Tatum hadn’t injured himself shooting “Avengers: Doomsday” in London recently, this profile would have a much more strenuous central set-piece. “We’d probably be bowling or something if I wasn’t like this,” he says, after walking into our lunch meeting with a pronounced limp. For the remainder of the production so far — “We had tons more shooting,” Tatum says, including a “big fight” with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom — Tatum was sidelined, sitting in for close-ups and allowing his double to take on the heavy stuff. Today, he says, he’s taken the day off his pain meds “so I wouldn’t be falling asleep on you and drooling. My body doesn’t do well with codeine — and those painkillers the U.K. docs gave me were strong.”

Intensive physical therapy — and wrapping the “Avengers” shoot for a 2026 release — lie ahead.

Michelle Yeoh’s Box Office Bomb Surpasses 'Kpop Demon Hunters' on US Streaming Charts
Image
KPop Demon Hunters may be Netflix's most popular film of all time, but this sci-fi box office bomb that stars Michelle Yeoh currently dominates the U.S. Netflix charts. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts currently holds the top spot on Netflix's Top 10 Movies in the U.S. as of August 26, 2025, and has maintained its position to this day. This feature is the lowest-grossing film in the live-action Transformers franchise, having generated only $439 million globally. But that didn't stop this feature from finding a newfound audience on streaming.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts introduces new human leads played by Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, and Tobe Nwigwe. It also introduced the Maximals,...

How One Bad Audition Nearly Cost Chris Pratt His Biggest Role
Image
Chris Pratt almost missed out on the role that would make him a household name in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In an interview with Esquire, Pratt talked about a terrible audition for a G.I. Joe movie that left him feeling embarrassed and unsure about future roles.

“I saw the director’s eyes just glaze over,” he said. He realized it happened because he was “out of shape” and “did not look like a G.I. Joe action figure come to life.”

That experience was so discouraging that he initially turned down the chance to audition for Guardians of the Galaxy, fearing he might humiliate himself again.

Chris Pratt’s Terrible Audition Almost Cost Him ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Role
Image
Chris Pratt almost missed his chance to become a Marvel superhero because of a terrible audition for another movie. In an interview with Esquire, Pratt explained that he once auditioned for a G.I. Joe film and it went really badly.

“Halfway through the audition, I saw the director’s eyes just glaze over,” he said. He realized it was probably because he was out of shape and didn’t look like a typical action hero.

After that experience, Pratt was hesitant to take another big role. He even initially turned down Guardians of the Galaxy, according to the interview, because he didn’t want to “embarrass myself” like he did during the G.I. Joe audition.

Gus Van Sant on Returning to Film Directing With ‘Dead Man’s Wire’ and the Steamy Audition Tape That Cost Him ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’
Image
Gus Van Sant has a thing for outsiders.

From “Drugstore Cowboy” to “My Own Private Idaho” to “Good Will Hunting” (still the biggest hit of his career), Van Sant likes to turn his camera on the hookers and junkies, hustlers and loners who society overlooks. The more marginalized someone is, the more Van Sant is drawn to them.

“I relate to them,” Van Sant says. “Stories about one individual versus a whole system are just

something I respond to emotionally.”

“Dead Man’s Wire,” Van Sant’s latest film, is about a down-and-out guy who has been screwed over by the powers that be. Set in 1977, it tells the true story of Tony Kiritsis (played by Bill Skarsgård), an aspiring real estate developer who falls behind on his mortgage payments and decides to take his broker hostage..

“He’s a person who went completely off the rails,” Van Sant says.

AMC Boss May Have Accidentally Revealed the Real Reason There’s No Transformers One Sequel
Image
AMC’s Adam Aron spoke about the real reason why much of Paramount’s output in the past few years has been so less, and it applies to the Transformers One sequel as well. AMC has been at the top of the exhibition industry and has all the data on the number of releases each studio has been handling. The CEO revealed why the big studio has been greenlighting fewer movies (via Deadline).

Transformers One was a prequel movie chronicling the origin of Optimus Prime and Megatron’s feud. It was the first animated movie since The Transformers: The Movie, but it did not perform well at the box office, leading to plans for a trilogy being abandoned. However, Aron’s statements imply that the film’s box office performance was not the reason.

Paramount has been cash-hampered in recent years, which has caused them to greenlight fewer movies than they might have liked to.

The Action Scene | Choreographing the Real: A Conversation with Kenji Tanigaki

The Action Scene explores the form, history, and visceral power of action cinema through its set piecesThis column was occasioned by Issue 7 of Notebook magazine as part of a broader exploration of the unfilmable. The magazine is available via direct subscription or in select stores around the world.Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends.Unlike the wuxia warrior who soars to rafters and treetops, the fighters in the Rurouni Kenshin films (2012–21) move low and fast. Rather than immaculate choreography immaculately framed—the meat and potatoes of golden-age Hong Kong martial arts cinema—their swordplay is less studied, a quicksilver flow of action and reactions. And unlike the conventional samurai standoff, in which opponents take their time sizing each other up from a distance, the action is pure, intimate bedlam. Blades clash everywhere, from tip to hilt, bringing combatants up close; when an attack is dodged, it misses by mere inches. Some...

Michael Bay's Transformers Franchise Gets Promising Update 2 Years After Rise of the Beasts' $442M Haul
Image
The Transformersfeature film franchise that Michael Bay started just got a major update that fans will love to hear.

Per Deadline, the Transformers feature film franchise could be looking at some renewed interest on the part of Paramount Pictures following the company's recent merger with Skydance Entertainment. It is reported that, prior to the merger, Paramount had no fewer than three separate scripts in development for Transformers, one of which would have seen Michael Bay make a return to the series, and all of which could easily be picked up by the company's new management.

Now that the Paramount-Skydance merger is complete, the new studio is being led by co-chairs Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg, while David Ellison has stepped in as the new CEO of Paramount. In a statement, Ellison said, "One of our biggest priorities is restoring Paramount as the No. 1 studio for filmmakers and talent in the world.

David Ellison Shows Off His New Throne at Paramount, With ‘Top Gun 3,’ ‘Star Trek’ and ‘World War Z’ Called Priorities
Image
Growing up, David Ellison spent every Sunday going to the movies with his mother and his sister, Annapurna founder Megan Ellison. As an adult, he spent more than 15 years pursuing his wish to run a legacy Hollywood studio. Now, his dream has become reality and all eyes are on the young mogul to see if he can right a movie studio that has been all but run into the ground.

On Wednesday, Ellison, the ambitious and introspective son of tech billionaire Larry Ellison showed off his new throne — metaphorically speaking — when hosting a meet-and-greet for journalists on the storied Melrose Lot in Hollywood, home of the newly minted Paramount-Skydance. The gathering of he and his C-suite followed a similar event in New York held Aug. 7, the day the $8 billion merger officially closed. The L.A. presser focused more on the movie and TV side, which includes CBS, its cable channels and Paramount+.

Michael Bay's Transformers Explodes on Streaming 18 Years Later
Image
Michael Bay has been involved with some major franchises, with the biggest being Transformers for Paramount Pictures. Now, 18 years later, the franchise's first live-action/CG movie is blowing up on streaming.

Transformers is currently ranked in the No. 10 spot on Prime Video's Top 10 Movies in the United States chart, according to FlixPatrol. If the 2007 sci-fi action movie wants to climb further up the chart, it will need to take down some serious competition. Just ahead of Transformers are two Jason Statham action flicks, Killer Elite (No. 9) and Wrath of Man (No. 8), and the Arnold Schwarzenegger-led Sabotage (No. 7). Transformers will also have to contend with the hit musical Wicked (No. 6), the Prime Video original movie Heads of State (No. 5), the movie adaptation of the video game Uncharted (No. 4), Wes Ball's Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (No. 3), the critically-panned War of the Worlds remake starring Ice Cube (No. 2), and...

Car Bomb's Greg Kubacki: Anime and Heavy Music Resonate With People Looking For Something Genuine
Image
No one can write a song as extreme as Car Bomb. That’s because no other band can sound like them. In case there was a need to put that beyond a shadow of a doubt, their brand new EP, Tiles Whisper Dreams , is likely the most intense 12 minutes of music you’ll hear all year. I had a conversation with guitarist Greg Kubacki about the new EP and learning about the artistic process via watching Akira . The new EP, Tiles Whisper Dreams , is finally out. How are you feeling? How was that recording process? Tell me all about it. Greg Kubacki : It was long. So we started writing like in 2019, after Mordial was out. We just kept writing and writing and writing, and we really wanted to make the best songs possible. Our intention was to put out a full-length. But some of the songs are just quite not there yet.

How 'Josh Duhamel' Feels About the Possible Iconic 'Transformers' Crossover Movie
Image
The sheer quantity of Transformers films released thus far is evidence alone that the franchise has had a successful box office run in years past. Another batch of films, G.I. Joe and its spin-offs, were similarly spawned from beloved action figures years ago, though its ticket sales are no match for Optimus Prime and company. But G.I. Joe has its loyal fan base, especially when news broke that a potential crossover film between the two canons might be happening. Fans certainly didn't lose hope of the Transformers-G.I. Joe crossover after promising updates poured in as recently as last year, though its future now remains a bit uncertain as we're now more than halfway through 2025.

Nonetheless, there's still chatter among filmgoers, and MovieWeb recently had the chance to speak with one of the stars of multiple Transformers films, Josh Duhamel, to see if the longtime actor had any new intel on the potential project.

Transformers Star, 33, Reveals Uncertain Future for Planned ‘G.I. Joe’ Crossover
Image
In 2023, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts teased a potential crossover with G.I. Joe, bringing two of Hasbro's IP into one shared universe. For a while, this potential team-up appears promising, with updates emerging from various sources. However, it now seems that there might be trouble bringing this project to the big screen, as Anthony Ramos teases that things behind the scenes might lead to the project being shelved.

Ramos starred in Rise of the Beasts as Noah Diaz, and during the film's ending, he was invited to join a secret government organization called G.I. Joe, and his skills would benefit the team. In an interview with ScreenRant, Ramos addressed the project's future, expressing uncertainty about whether the Paramount and Skydance merger would affect the crossover's likelihood of continuing.

"I don't know, brother. I feel like you guys find out before us... There's a lot going on at Paramount, Skydance.

'F1' Overtakes Rihanna’s 34% Rotten Tomatoes Bomb Based on a Children's Game

The sports drama F1 is facing the heat at the box office, with fresh competition from Jurassic World Rebirth and Superman. And with Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps around the corner, F1 will rely on international audiences and older crowds to continue pulling in the numbers at the box office. Set in the high-stakes world of Formula One racing and funded by Apple in collaboration with the F1 brand, the well-reviewed sports drama is already the highest-grossing movie to be produced by a tech company.

It’s another goal that Apple has beaten its competitors to, after winning the coveted Best Picture Oscar some years ago for Coda. With over $125 million domestically and around $360 million at the global box office, F1 has overtaken hit...

Michael Bay's $442 Transformers Sequel Is a Stealth Streaming Hit 2 Years Later

Transformers: Rise of the Beastscontinues to climb the streaming charts two years after failing to impress critics.

Per FlixPatrol, the 2023 Transformers sequel has made its way to the number eight spot on the list of top streaming series and films on MGM+ for Jul. 11. 'G.I. Joe' Star Henry Golding Is Open for Snake Eyes Return in 'Transformers' Crossover
Image
Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins star Henry Golding is open to returning for the planned crossover between G.I. Joe and Transformers, but the signs aren't looking very promising so far. Golding played the character of Snake Eyes in the 2021 G.I. Joe spin-off origin film that was intended to reboot the franchise. The ending of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which revealed that G.I. Joe existed in the same universe, implied that the rebooted G.I. Joe film was intended to align with the newly rebooted live-action Transformers continuity.

Speaking with Comic Book, Henry Golding discussed the possibility of reprising his role as Snake Eyes in the planned crossover film between Hasbro's two biggest franchises, which Chris Hemsworth will reportedly lead. Golding, at the moment, thinks that Paramount Pictures might feature a different take on G.I. Joe, possibly the team from the original duology of films, but he would love to return in some capacity.

‘G.I. Joe’ Star, 38, Delivers an Update on Planned ‘Transformers’ Crossover Return
Image
Henry Golding recently took his name out of consideration as the next James Bond, and now the star has also provided another update on another future project he’s been rumored to star in. One of Golding’s most notable roles came from starring in Snake Eyes, formerly titled Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins. The film premiered in 2021 to poor reviews from critics and mediocre reviews from audiences — it earned scores of 35% from the former and 74% from the latter on Rotten Tomatoes.

The release of 2023’s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts shocked the world with its post-credit scene, one that teased a crossover with the G.I. Joe franchise. It was later reported that a crossover movie between the two was in the works, with Marvel veteran Chris Hemsworth attached to star and Derek Connolly (Jurassic World) writing the script. G.I. Joe Movie Future Gets Disappointing Update As Snake Eyes Star Remains Open To Returning
Image
The future of G.I. Joegets a disappointing update, but Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins star Henry Golding remains open to returning. Based on the popular action figures, Snake Eyes premiered in 2021 and marked the first G.I. The newer G.I. Joe movie, directed by Robert Schwentke, explores a drifter (Golding) who learns from the Arashikage while seeking vengeance for the murder of his father. Despite a strong cast and compelling story, Snake Eyes failed to resonate at the box office, but there may be a door open for Golding and others to come back.

During a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Golding mentioned speculation surrounding Transformers and Snake Eyes, but revealed that he does not know if it will happen, or if a crossover would include a different G.I. Joe. However, Golding still expressed interest in returning,...

Street Fighter | David Dastmalchian to play the villainous M Bison
Image
David Dastmalchian, star of Late Night With The Devil, has been announced as the Street Fighter film’s primary antagonist, M Bison.

Late Night With The Devil star David Dastmalchian has been unveiled as the arch villain in Legendary’s planned adaptation of Capcom’s Street Fighter videogame series. Fallout's Walton Goggins was previously said to be in negotiations for the role around a month ago, that hasn’t come to pass. The Lowes-Grossing 'Transformers' Movie Becomes Streaming Hit Two Years Later
Image
There’s no denying that the Transformers franchise has taken a few hits in recent years. It went from grossing over $1 billion per movie down to a little over $400 million. That’s certainly a sharp decline, and would give any studio pause for concern, which is why we haven’t heard much news recently about the franchise other than the rumor that Michael Bay might be returning to direct another movie. However, thanks to streaming, many films that underperformed at the box office have managed to find new life, including the most recent live-action Transformers flick, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.

Hitting theaters on June 9, 2023, Rise of the Beasts took in just $441 million against a reported $200 million budget, making it the lowest live-action earner of the franchise. A number of factors went into its poor box office performance, including audience fatigue, competition (it was sandwiched between the release of Spider-Man:...

Michael Bay Reportedly Plots Return to Director's Chair for New Transformers Movie
Image
It seems the king of bombastic action flicks is ready to "roll out" once more. Michael Bay is reported to be developing a new Transformers movie that he wants to direct, too. Should the project pan out, it would mark his first entry in the franchise in eight years after Transformers: The Last Knight earned $605 million worldwide and effectively ended his run with the Hasbro property.

Transformers fatigue among fans and critics was rampant at the time of Bay's departure, and the franchise has only stumbled in Bay's absence. The most recent release, Transformers One, tried to refresh the saga with a family-friendly, comedic-leaning animated prequel (not canon to Bay's Transformers), but flamed out at the box office.

Live-action fare, on the other hand, has yielded exclusively depreciating returns. Bay's five Transformers films grossed $4.3 billion globally, but Bumblebee earned $467 million, Rise of the Beasts managed $441 million, and the animated Transformers One...

Michael Bay
Is Michael Bay returning to the Transformers franchise?
Michael Bay
From 2007 to 2017, Michael Bay directed five live-action films in the Transformers franchise: Transformers (2007), Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009), Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011), Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014), and Transformers: The Last Knight (2017). After he stepped away, the franchise continued with Bumblebee (directed by Travis Knight) in 2018 and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (directed by Steven Caple Jr.) in 2023. We’ve heard that the next movie in the series would be a G.I. Joe crossover… but that might not be the case, as Puck reports that Bay has pitched a new Transformers project to Paramount Pictures last year, his intention being to return to the franchise as a hands-on producer and potential director. Bay has reportedly chosen Jordan VanDina, writer of the comedies The Binge and It’s a Wonderful Binge, to write a screenplay based on his pitch. Details on the plot and characters are being kept under wraps.

A $200 Million Box Office Bomb That Killed a Franchise Has Become a Sleeper Hit on Streaming
Image
While promoting his last film, the highly underrated action thriller Ambulance, director Michael Bay admitted that he should've stepped away from the blockbuster Transformers franchise when the going was good. Instead, he hung around and found out what it's like to have a mega-budget underperformer to his name. He quit for good after Transformers: The Last Knight, and since then, the once-invincible franchise has been in limbo. Plus, Paramount has been experiencing its own behind-the-scenes difficulties, with a long-rumored sale around the corner. It was reported this week that Bay is circling a return to the project, which is just as well, because the last installment, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, tragically underperformed as well. However, it has shown a spark after debuting on HBO Max.

According to FlixPatrol, Rise of the Beastswas the eighth-biggest movie on HBO Max on June 26, beating out the satirical dark comedy Mountainhead, and the...

Michael Bay Set for Shocking Return to 'Transformers' as Franchise Expands Again
Image
To say that the Transformers franchise has floundered a little since Michael Bay decided to stop directing the feature films wouldn't be much of a stretch. While he's remained on board as a producer, his imprint has been minimal, and it's shown in the box office results. Though 2018's Bumblebee was a modest success despite being a critical hit, it didn't come close to earning as much as Bay's final directorial effort, Transformers: The Last Knight. The same could be said for 2023's Transformers: Rise of the Beastsand last year's Transformers One. Now, it appears as if Paramount is looking to get the franchise back on track as it continues to expand, and Bay could be a big part of its plans.

A new report from Matthew Belloni at Puck suggests that despite Bay being adamant that he'd never return to direct another Transformers movie, the acclaimed producer/director is...

Michael Bay Planning Transformers Franchise Return - But What Does It Mean For G.I. Joe Crossover Plans?
Image
Michael Bay helmed five Transformers movies, all of which were huge box office hits. Critics didn't love them, and fans were mixed, but the "least" successful of his films made $605 million, with the most successful grossing $1.1 billion.

Bumblebee, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, and Transformers One didn't find the same level of commercial success, even with better reviews, but is Bay the right person to restore the property to its former box office glory?

According to Puck (via SFFGazette.com), the filmmaker is developing a new Transformers movie at Paramount Pictures that he intends to direct. While he wiped his hands with the franchise after Transformers: The Last Knight underperformed in 2017, his recent movies haven't come close to Transformers numbers.

The site explains, "Bay approached the studio last year to come back as a hands-on producer and possibly director, and he's got writer Jordan VanDina working on a script. It's...

Michael Bay to Return for New Transformers Movie Despite Last Film’s Poor Reviews and Box Office
Image
Michael Bay is making a big return to the Transformers franchise, eight years after he stepped down as director. According to insider Matthew Belloni, Bay is back working with Paramount and will direct a new Transformers movie.

This is a surprise since Bay had previously said he wouldn’t direct another film after the disappointing performance of 2017’s Transformers: The Last Knight. The screenplay will be written by Jordan VanDina.

Bay’s comeback has been quietly in progress since last year. At first, he was set to join as a producer, but discussions soon shifted toward him directing again. Belloni says this reunion happened because both sides need each other. The Transformers series has seen a steady drop in box office sales since Bay left.

Michael Bay Set to Return for New Transformers Movie Despite Critical and Commercial Underperformance of the Last Installment
Image
Michael Bay is set to return as director for a new Transformers movie, eight years after stepping away from the franchise. Insider Matthew Belloni revealed that Bay is working with Paramount on this project and will direct the film.

This marks a big comeback for Bay, who had previously said he wouldn’t direct another Transformers movie after the poor financial results of 2017’s Transformers: The Last Knight. The new movie’s screenplay will be written by Jordan VanDina.

The news says Bay’s return has been in the works since last year when he started talks with Paramount. Initially, Bay was going to come back as a producer, but the possibility of directing the new film soon followed.

Belloni explained this reunion happened because both Bay and Paramount need each other. Since Bay left, the Transformers series has seen a steady drop in box office money. Meanwhile, Bay has...

The Best Transformers Story In Years Has Found The Perfect New Writer
Image

Daniel Warren Johnson's run on Skybound Entertainment's "Transformers" has been a resounding success. The comic has attracted huge critical and commercial attention since debuting in 2023; over the past two years, "Transformers" has outsold most Marvel and DC comic titles. It also received a Best Continuing Series award and Johnson himself won Best Writer/Artist at the 2024 Eisner Awards.

But all good things must come to an end. Last August, Johnson confirmed in a Reddit Ama that he would only be writing "Transformers" up to issue #24. He explained:

"When I make anything, writing, drawing, or both, I only know how to go 110 percent. So all that to say, I'm killing myself and can only go for so long. My choice to leave at 24 is more of a choice for my mental health and for my family than however I...

Bloodborne, the dark and challenging game released in 2015 for the PlayStation 4, was created by FromSoftware and published by Sony. The story follows a character known as the Hunter who travels through a gloomy, dangerous city called Yharnam.

The city is haunted by horrifying creatures, and the people living there are turning into monsters because of a strange disease. The Hunter sets out to find what’s behind this nightmare.

There’s no director tied to the movie yet, which suggests Sony hasn’t chosen who will lead it. But according to previous reports, writer Darren Lemke was supposed to handle the script. He’s worked on action-packed and fantasy-based stories like Shazam!

Live-Action ‘Bloodborne’ Movie Gets Hopeful But Unconfirmed Update
Image
A live-action Bloodborne movie is reportedly still in the works, according to a recent report from industry insider Daniel Richtman. While Sony hasn’t officially said anything, Richtman claims the project hasn’t been dropped and is still moving forward behind the scenes.

The movie is based on the 2015 PlayStation 4 exclusive game Bloodborne, developed by FromSoftware and published by Sony. The game takes place in a dark, creepy city called Yharnam, which is filled with terrifying monsters. The main character, known as the Hunter, tries to uncover the source of a deadly illness that’s turning people into beasts.

At the moment, there’s no confirmed director for the movie. That likely means Sony is still trying to find someone to lead the project. But fans already have their favorite picks in mind.

It follows a man (Squid Game‘s Lee Byung-hun) who is abruptly laid off by the paper company where he worked tirelessly for many years. Jon M. Chu’s Forgotten Film Had a Squid Game Star and a Christopher Nolan Problem
Image
Jon M. Chu is one of the most influential directors in Hollywood, who has built a reputation for himself by majorly working on smash-hit standalone films and making them memorable with a perfect cast. However, he could also be found on the other side of the fence, where he is part of a major franchise that has earned him praise from major filmmakers in the industry.

One such film was G.I. Joe: Retaliation, the 2nd film in the G.I. Joe franchise. While the film was not a major success like its predecessor, it was not a box office bomb either, receiving a very passable response from the fans.

This was a major shocker for the fans because it featured a major Squid Game star, but it faced a major problem that was not taken in a good note by the viewers.

Jon M. Chu’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation Suffered...
