So sad: After getting into a fight on Facebook over a boy, a New York resident jumped to her death — on her 22nd birthday.
Ashley Riggitano, 22, leapt off the George Washington Bridge into the Hudson River on Feb. 6, leaving behind her Louis Vuitton bag on the bridge with a note calling out the five people who bullied her to death. Ashley wrote in the note, “To any funeral, these people should not be allowed based upon words and actions.” Adderall and Klonopin were also found in Ashley’s bag.
The New York Post identified the five people as Alison Tinari, Teresa Castaldo, Beth Bassil, Samantha Horneff — as well as Ashley’s best friend, and business partner, Victoria Van Thunen.
Ashley, who owned her own jewelry business called Missfits with Victoria, also mentioned a man in the note who was allowed to attend her funeral —but she hoped he “gets what he deserves” while there.

Director George Sluizer says re-edited version will be finished in 2012 and Joaquin Phoenix may fill in for late brother
Eighteen years after River Phoenix's death, the director of his last movie has announced that he will release Dark Blood, the drama the actor was working on when he died of a drug-induced heart attack outside La's Viper Room nightclub.
Dutch director George Sluizer has re-edited footage from the unfinished shoot and believes he can release a final cut of the film next year, according to the Hollywood Reporter. He plans to ask River's brother, Joaquin Phoenix, to provide a voiceover as Boy, the character River was playing when he died, aged 23, 11 days from the film's wrap. "The voices of both brothers are very much alike," said the director.
Dark Blood, which also stars Jonathan Pryce and Judy Davis, sees Phoenix play a hermit living on a nuclear test site.

No hat, but I'm not complaining.
Welcome back to Celebrity Twitterwatch, where we take a look at what the beautiful people are saying about their beautiful lives. It's kind of like a visiting a zoo, but with better decorators.
Harry Shum, Jr. was the toast of Glee this week, and that meant doing press. In the old days, he would have dressed up and met a publicist at the Beverly Hilton pool and seen a parade of journalists. Now, he rolls out of bed and gets dressed. Well, sort of. I'd like to think this is how he lives life generally. Every gentleman should wear a hat.
Speaking of media attention, comic and former MTV VJ Dave Holmes took time to note that in his passing, Steve Jobs had performed a selfless act and done the impossible: He pulled a spotlight away from Sarah Palin.

'Doctor Who' returns 9Pm Et Saturday on BBC America. Finally.
It feels as though we've had to wait an eternity for the show's sixth season to recommence, and there were dozens of unanswered questions floating around by the end of 'A Good Man Goes to War,' the ripping mid-season finale that aired in June. The good news is, the show's executive producer, Steven Moffat, and star, Matt Smith, both said in recent interviews that all those big questions will be answered by the time the seventh season wraps up Oct. 1. My interview with Smith is below, and I'll post the interview with Moffat soon.

Alex Kingston's River Song made her 'Doctor Who' debut in the Silence In the Library/Forest Of the Dead two-episode story arc in season four. Coincidentally, those episodes were written by Steven Moffat, who was announced as the new head writer shortly before the episodes aired.
Song, a time traveling archeologist, came back last year for season five, Moffat's first at the helm, and has been increasingly important to the storyline since then.
The character proves herself be even more important in season six, which debuts this Sat., April 23 on BBC America. Kingston recently told AOL TV she had no idea how involved she would eventually be in the show, but Moffat did. "Steven already had sort of like the whole journey of River Song planned in his head," she told us.

Have you seen Hal Holbrook in Into The Wild? His storyline is our favorite in that movie (don’t worry, Kristen Stewart‘s #2) and he’s a seasoned and spectacular actor. On Sunday he told us that his Water for Elephants co-star Robert Pattinson impressed him with his “manner” and called him a “modest young man.” Everyone we’ve ever talked to about Pattinson has echoed Holbrook’s sentiment, and the few times we’ve interviewed him we’ve noticed the same thing. Humble RPattz is humble!
Holbrook, who plays the older version of Rob’s character in the movie, also marveled at how much he looks like a younger version of himself. His entire interview is very sweet – we love his thoughts on the megalomania of Hollywood, of which both he and Rob seem destined to avoid. Watch above.

Water is becoming a high-stakes business where there's money to be made everywhere you look -- from greasy wool to microchips.
In the rangeland of Australia, sheep get frightfully dirty. They roam the outback among all manner of plants, trees, and scrub; they loll in the dirt; they sleep on the ground; they roll in their own poop. They shower only if it happens to rain.
So when these sheep get sheared -- and Australia is still the largest producer of wool in the world -- the fresh wool is grubby. Raw wool is called "greasy wool," because in addition to dirt, the wool is coated with the sheep's natural protection, lanolin. A specialized industry exists to clean it. The big Michell Wool scouring plant in Salisbury, a suburb north of Adelaide, uses almost a megaliter of water (264,000 gallons) a day -- about what 750 families use.

Eric Roberts has been in front of cameras for much of his life, but his extensive career as an actor didn't prepare him for what he calls the "very exposing" experience of being on a reality show.
"It's like riding public transportation in your not-clean underwear," Roberts told Zap2it Saturday (April 9) at the Reality Rocks Expo. "It's very exposing, it's frightening, and it's awkward. It's especially awkward if you've been an actor your whole life. ... I've done almost 100 plays and almost 200 films, so all I know is acting. So then I'm told this is a different kind of acting -- and yes, it is. It's not acting; it's reacting to whatever circumstance they put you into. And it's frightening."
Roberts was on the most recent season of VH1's "Celebrity Rehab," which helped him kick a long-time marijuana habit and also helped facilitate a better relationship with his stepson,...

American Idol 2011! Pia sent home early in star celebs shocker? [Apr. 7] Season 12 of American Idol has seen a lot of ups and downs. On rock and roll night, the contestants belted out their best rock tunes as the vied for the title of the next American Idol. With pretty decent live performances, the audience was pleasantly surprised at the contestants. Many felt Pia Toscano, and her performance of the song blah, in honor of the rock & roll hall of fame, did an outstanding job and was a sure win! During the Top 9 performances show, she rocked her Gwen Stefani look, dolled up by Gwen Stefani herself who was the guest stylist for the evening. However, not everyone was all smiles on the elimination episode of the Top 9 contestants. During the top 9 performances, the judges had nothing bu positive feedback for Pia on her live performance of Ike & Tina Turner's River Deep Mountain High.

Celebrity adventurer Bear Grylls will travel to New Zealand in March to raise money for charity.
The Man Vs. Wild star will appear at two events in the country – one at Auckland’s Skycity Convention Centre (March 2) and the other at Wellington’s Michael Fowler Centre (March 3) – will raise money for the Wellington Children’s Hospital and victims of November’s Pike River mining disaster.
“Bear is all about making it in any situation – and something like Pike River where they’ve been through so much, there’s a lot of correlation there,” said organizer Jamie Templeton. “He is the everyday working-man’s hero. He makes you realize that against all odds, and with the right attitude, anything is possible.”
