Jeff Beck guested on guitar in two songs and was supposed to have been in the film, but asked not to appear in it because he felt his solos and his appearance, looking more like a '60s blues rocker than Bowie and the Spiders' theatrical outfits didn't quite fit the movie. His performances have been added to the film for its 50th anniversary re-release.
RCA requested that many references to, mostly, death and suicide in Bowie's lyrics should be bleeped. Pennebaker gave way. But he only bleeped the mono-sound negative, while the stereo film print and soundtrack remained non-bleeped.
Marlene Dietrich and Ringo Starr are said to have been in the audience.

The "glitter" on the film was caused by tiny bits of magnesium that made it's way on the film giving it a glitter chrome look.
Director D.A. Pennebaker arranged for signs to be put up around the Hammersmith Odeon that told the crowd to bring flash cameras and take as many photos as they could, which added a illumination to the crowd.
