A bit contrived, yes, but exceptional performances by Judd Hirsch and Kate Nelligan. The pain and desperation just radiates from Nelligan. As a father, I can't even imagine what it must have took to just keep functioning.
The ending is emotionally thrilling. if you don't have an enormous lump in your throat, and tears in your eyes.......

- TriviaThe movie and its source book were based on the case of six-year-old Etan Kalil Patz. He disappeared in Manhattan on May 25, 1979, while walking 2 blocks to a school bus stop. He was the first missing child to be advertised on a milk carton. The case launched the missing children's movement, new legislation, and new methods for locating missing children.
- GoofsThe tea kettle that Susan Selky uses while waiting for Alex to come home is not a whistling type. There is no whistle attachment as she poured the water without removing anything from the spout. Whistling was only a sound effect.
