Many actors have a sliding doors moment in their career when they pass up a choice role in a soon-to-be iconic movie. For some, it isn't a huge deal. Denzel Washington, for example, already had two Oscar nominations and one win under his belt by the time he decided he didn't want to star in David Fincher's "Se7en." Sure, he later came to regret turning away one of the defining films of the '90s, but he was already an established star and would be just fine without it. That isn't always the case when an actor hasn't quite built up the body of work to go around rejecting great parts –- just take Henry Winkler and Danny Zuko in "Grease."
Winkler was virtual unknown when he won the chance to play Fonzie on "Happy Days." Arthur "The Fonz" Fonzarelli started out as a minor supporting character but quickly...

ABC’s Tgif programming block had viewers hoping for Friday nights to watch their favorite sitcom.
Over the years, many people believed the acronym stood for “Thank God It’s Friday.” However, in a new interview, Jim Janicek, who help create the programming block, clarified that the letters stood for “Thank Goodness It’s Funny.”
“We were talking about things like the ‘Friday Fun Club,'” Janicek said on Pod Meets World about the names they considered before Tgif. “There’s a whole list somewhere I probably could dig up, but I remember that one. You know, ‘It’s Friday Night.’ Lots of little short-isms.”
Janicek recalled that the network’s executives were initially worried that using Tgif would cause problems with a chain of restaurants.

Jordan is giving Ian threats. Ian doesn’t like that. So how long before one decides to off the other…and frame a third party?
One-of-a-Kind
Jordan (Colleen Zenk) sure did seem like she was done with Ian (Ray Wise), didn’t she? Look at everything she’s done for him so far! Jordan helped him frame Sharon (Sharon Case), and now he’s questioning her effectiveness. Nobody speaks to Jordan like that and gets away with it!
What if Jordan decides she does better working alone? Ian needs to go. He won’t be the first person she’s killed. But, to make it even more fun, Jordan needs to shift the blame onto someone else.

The pandemic, although disastrous for most parts of the economy, had one minor upside: a boost in online viewing. The number of subscribers of Portugal’s VOD platform Filmin, for example, has tripled compared with last year, due in part to the lockdown. “We grew as much in three months as we forecast for two years,” Filmin Portugal manager Anette Dujisin told Variety. Classic films have played a major part in driving that growth.
Despite challenges with local classics, Filmin is seeing growing success with heritage films and catalog titles as well as new releases. Filmin has received constant requests from subscribers – even loud demands from some – for more classic films since the service went online in 2016, Dujisin said.
The feedback affirms “that a VOD platform dedicated to independent cinema is not complete without a certain body of classical films,” Dujisin said. “So since the beginning we have been making...

Don't you hate it when a season finale turns into a series finale?
The fight to save Whiskey Cavalier continues, and whether or not it will be fruitful has yet to be determined. In the meantime, if Whiskey Cavalier Season 1 Episode 13 served as the season finale, then it came full-circle in many ways.
Will and Ray are back to being friends, and Will and Frankie's next mission will be to retrieve Standish.

During their peak in the late '90s, The Olsen twins were arguably the most famous child actresses around, starring in widely known films such as It Takes Two, Billboard Dad, Passport to Paris, and Switching Goals as well as numerous direct-to-video movies. The twins also did their fair share of work in television, grabbing starring roles in beloved TV series such as So Little Time, Two of a Kind and animated series Mary-Kate and Ashley in Action!. With their long list of acting credits, along with their ownership of entertainment company Dualstar, its no wonder that the Olsen Twins were some of the wealthiest child stars of their generation.

John Travolta will celebrate his 65th birthday on February 18, 2019. The actor has had a long and varied career, though it has often been marked by extremely high highs and extremely low lows.
Travolta started his career in the musical theater on Broadway with appearances in two shows. He first appeared in the original production of “Grease” in the supporting role of “Doody.” (He would later go on to star in the lead role of Danny Zuko when the film version was made.) We’ve already covered the kick-off pre-show, so onto the main event, hosted by The New Day, who kick off proceedings with a typical New Day promo – only this time they’re dressed like Final Fantasy characters (gotta get that video game sponsorship money right?) Though you have to give it to Big E for the double-entendre, hacker-centric joke about “pulling levers” then staring at Xavier Woods!

It will be a cornucopia of nostalgia when FX takes us back to the Golden Age of Tabloid Television with "American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson", a 10 part miniseries revisiting the sensational case 20 years after it reached its divisive verdict. In an announcement today, the network revealed the series ensemble will also feature one of the great pieces of nostalgia casting of recent times, with John Travolta taking on his first television role an astonishing 36 years he departed the little screen at the conclusion of “Welcome Back, Kotter”s four season run. Despite career ups and downs in the decades since, Travolta has apparently never looked back at the medium that he so dominated in the heartthrob role of Vinnie Barbarino, as well as his first major dramatic turn in the Made-for-tv movie, “The Boy in the Plastic Bubble.” After suffering a career-near-death slump in the 1980’s...

Writer/director John Herzfeld (15 Minutes, Two of a Kind) earnestly tries and spectacularly fails to dilute the acrid pretentiousness of Reach Me, a tone-deaf everything-is-connected melodrama, by cutting his characters' pseudo-enlightened philosophizing with goony broad humor. Herzfeld wants ideal viewers to identify with Roger (Kevin Connolly), an online yellow journalist who overcomes his initial disbelief and heeds authorial voice Teddy (Tom Berenger), a self-help guru whose trite individualist ideology boils down to "Courage means moving forward in spite of your fears." But while Roger's character-defining skepticism makes him semi-relatable, all of Herzfeld's other protagonists are either painfully earnest personifications or tediously manic counterex...

Above is the trailer for Reach Me, starring a spectacular direct-to-dvd cast if anyone's ever seen one. This Millennium Films production packs in the Millennium Films all-stars in a story about a self-help guru who has vanished, leaving behind a book that has changed the lives of an all-star ensemble of actors. Reach Me comes from writer-director John Herzfeld, and considering the life-affirming angle of the trailer, that's a bit bizarre. Herzfeld has made a few pretty nasty movies, none moreso than 15 Minutes, which relies on the novelty of Robert De Niro being tied to a chair and tortured to death. His debut was the ill-advised John Travolta romance Two of A Kind back in the '80s, and his sporadic theatrical work has sent him to television in recent years. His greatest achievement, however, may have been giving Charlize Theron her first standout role in the Pulp Fiction wannabe...

Show of hands: Who thinks Stephen King should pen all future Under the Dome scripts?
Although CBS’ adaptation of King’s sci-fi thriller often struggled to provide continuity and/or general suspense in its freshman season, Monday’s Season 2 premiere — written by King himself — brought the show back to its roots: a little creepy, a little confusing, but wholly entertaining.

Atlantis' talented cast continues to be stymied by underwhelming dialogue and storytelling. Here's Dave's review of White Lies...
This review contains spoilers.
1.5 White Lies
First up, let's recap the action of this week's Atlantis.
Whilst a mysterious stranger breaks into the palace and attacks Ariadne, Hercules is betting on beetles. The intruder passes a note to Ariadne, before being injured and caught, setting Ariadne on her own mission, whilst he suffers at the hands of Pasiphae and her dark ways. Thankfully, Ariadne has a plan that involves duping Jason into escorting her handmaiden and it is soon discovered that the poor, mysterious stranger was delivering a note to say that Ariadne’s brother, Therus, the betrayer of his Kingdom, is actually very much alive and well, seeking justice for the lies that have been told about him.

The myth of Oedipus is a rather dark tale for a family drama like Atlantis to tackle, so in 'Twist of Fate', said myth is fused with Three Men and a Baby for an adventure that's part royal scandal, part rollicking adventure and part 'wee-wee and poo-poo' slapstick.
We open with Jason (Jack Donnelly), Pythagoras (Robert Emms) and Hercules (Mark Addy) finding a cute infant abandoned in the woods and, once they take the child home and assume the role of surrogate parents, we're treated to all the standard gags you'd expect.
There's no magicians or monsters here - instead, our heroes must deal with the perils of baby poo, changing nappies, settling a child to sleep and being sprayed with adorable urine. Oh, and of course, there's fart jokes aplenty!
The hapless trio recruit the maternal Medusa to help out, with Hercules using their time spent babysitting...

Atlantis skips mystical mythology this week for a story of family and honour. Here's Dave's review...
This review contains spoilers.
1.4 Twist of Fate
Three men and a baby…
Yes, this week Jason brings about yet more social change by rescuing an abandoned baby, despite tradition suggesting that the baby should be left to die.
So Jason heroically changes nappies, valiantly shops for food and then asks Medusa, the only woman he really knows, for help, which she quite happily gives (probably because, for Jemima Rooper, it means some dialogue and the chance to show how great she is as an actor.)
Meanwhile, King Laius of Thebes turns up to drive a wedge between Ariadne and Pasiphae (at least, he would if the writers had carried forward the initial tentative steps), whilst his wife Jocasta looks ashen and mournful.
Continuing his rather seedy quest to steal the heart of Medusa,...

Welcome to the latest installment of Tna Review, as it is time for the go-home show before the Lockdown PPV on Sunday. But, before Tna rolls into San Antonio, it is time for the company to build on the upcoming extravaganza to the fullest extent possible. The main headlines of course revolve around Aces & Eights, and after last week’s announcement of the teams for the signature Lethal Lockdown match, will the sides be colliding only a few days before the PPV? Also, with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line between Jeff Hardy and his challenger Bully Ray, will some tension begin to form over the apparent respect that the two competitors have for each other? The title match could use a little antagonism in order to ensure that the main event will be everything that it can possibly be at Lockdown.

John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John and the holiday season go together like ramma lamma lamma ka dinga da dinga dong, which is why the former "Grease" stars are putting out a Christmas album.
Titled This Christmas: John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John, the album marks the first time Travolta and Newton-John have gotten together for a project since "Two of a Kind" was released in 1983. Bob Dylan's classic 1975 album "Blood on the Tracks" will be turned into a feature film by Rt Features says The Wrap.
Considered one of the greatest rock albums of all time thanks to iconic songs like "Shelter From the Storm" and "Simple Twist of Fate," there's no telling what kind of a storyline will be used considering the album didn't really have one.
At the time however Dylan was separated from his wife so there's plenty of songs of love and loss. Those on the project are seeking a director with "unique vision" to translate the album to screen. Rodrigo Teixeira and Fernando Loureiro will produce.
