The screen version of the novel "The Fourth Echelon" by Eduard Khrutsky from a series of works about Colonel Ivan Aleksandrovich Danilov, head of the anti-bandit department of MUR, and his comrades.
Director Boris Grigoriev sought to pick up for the role of Danilov an actor, similar to Colonel Skoryn, that he was completely successful - according to Khrutsky himself, "the main character was brilliantly played by Oleg Strizhenov".
