Atlantis Interceptors (1983)

Trivia

Atlantis Interceptors

Edit
While looking for locations in the Philippines, Ruggero asked his guides to take him to the same region where Francis Ford Coppola filmed Apocalypse Now (1979). Seeing that the place had been cleared for that filming, Deodato was forced to look for an area with virgin forest. In Deodato Holocaust (2019), the filmmaker stated: "Coppola had destroyed that jungle!".
In the documentary Deodato Holocaust (2019), Ruggero Deodato said that he directed this film as if it were a zombie movie, with anonymous, mute, and increasingly numerous enemies suddenly appearing to surround the heroes and being systematically exterminated for them.
Helicopters used are: landing at the platform is a Sikorsky Sea King HS-2. The bus chase helicopter appears to be a Fairchild-Hiller FH1100 and the final helicopter is a Bell UH-1 Huey.
Behind the scenes of his interview for Felipe M. Guerra's documentary Deodato Holocaust (2019), Ruggero assumed for the first time that he made two cameos in this film: an Oil Rig Assistant, where his face can be seen, and as the mysterious contractor who awaits Mike and Wash in his car in the opening scene (only the top of Deodato's head is seen behind an open newspaper).
On Mill Creeks 50 movies sci-fi invasion boxed set, this is known as Raiders of Atlantis.

Director Cameo

Ruggero Deodato: The colonel who hires Mike and Washington, and the assistant on the oil rig who tells Saunders that the chopper is coming in.
