Haunting film about politics and old age.(spoiler in last paragraph)

See? We are nice...

A long, dull, boring film made to please the censors and give the production team a good wage.

If set in he 1940s, this film would have been great. France was preparing to make pregnancy termination a crime against the state and here you have to opposite sex characters getting naked outside the institution of marriage.

If set around 1961 this film would have brought a human perspective to a raging conflict that was never solved as it erupts every now and than.

Made in the 1980s this film stands for wasted time and wasted film. In a way it is the moral follower of the war movies made in France in the 1950s and 1960s: look at how humane we are.
