The true crime documentary series American Nightmare is set to reach the Netflix streaming service on January 17th, and with exactly two weeks to go until this one is available to watch a trailer for the show has arrived online. You can check it out in the embed above.

A home invasion and abduction gets stranger and stranger in the trailer for Netflix’s upcoming docuseries, American Nightmare. The three-part film, which premieres Jan. 17, reexamines the unusual 2015 disappearance of Denise Huskins and the testimony of her boyfriend, Aaron Quinn, which police doubted at the time.

“My girlfriend, Denise, got kidnapped last night,” Quinn tells a 911 operator at the beginning of the series’ trailer.

And while story often has to be sacrificed or compromised when something is as brief as The Dumb Waiter, Robert Bierman compensates with an unwavering sense of dread. Alan Wake 2 has a deep and intriguing mystery that extends beyond the game into other titles and even TV shows. With a story that's been over a decade in the making, it makes sense that the second game, which takes place 13 years after the first title, would include a few hidden details. While some are more innocuous call-backs to previous media in the extended Remedy universe, others serve as clever clues left behind by the game's writer, Sam Lake, and the team of creatives at Remedy Entertainment.

One such clue is the creepy owl in Alan's office that follows the character with its eyes. While unsettling, it seems like it would be a completely innocuous addition to freak out those paying attention. However, another train of thought and theory could lend itself to uncovering the greater mysteries and unsolved story threads that have weaved their way into the Alan Wake narrative.

Alan Wake 2 draws heavily from Twin Peaks, particularly the third season, The Return, in terms of tone and narrative focus. Both Twin Peaks and Alan Wake are set in small Washington towns, where dark secrets and inexplicable events disrupt peaceful lives. Twin Peaks and Alan Wake both feature parallel universes that their protagonists enter but cannot easily leave, and evil doppelgängers that play major roles in the plot.

Alan Wake 2 wears its influences on its sleeve, and Twin Peaks might be the one it's proudest of. Twin Peaks, which began airing in 1990, is part gentle soap opera satire, and part surreal murder mystery. But where the first Alan Wake was based on the first two seasons of Twin Peaks, Alan Wake 2 has more in common with the third season, The Return. Alan Wake 2 is introducing a New Game Plus feature called Final Draft. This unlocks a higher difficulty mode while allowing players to keep some upgrades from their first runs. Alan Wake II is a sequel 13 years in the making. A lot of expectation comes with a wait of that caliber. Developer Remedy has attempted to make the long-awaited sequel numerous times over the past decade, from the spin-off Alan Wake’s American Nightmare to their Xbox exclusive game Quantum Break that began production as an Alan Wake sequel. Alan Wake II has clearly been on Remedy’s mind as much as it’s been on ours, and that labor of love and passion come through in the final product.

Alan Wake II is an absolute enigma of a game. At times it feels like a direct continuation of that story that ended 13 years ago, at times it feels like an absolute reboot that detaches itself for long enough to tell a standalone story, and still other times it feels like one of the most frightening horror games I’ve ever played.

Updated with latest additions: SAG-AFTRA, which launched a strike against Hollywood studios on July 14, launched its interim agreements program that allows independent productions with no direct ties to members of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers to continue filming.

The guild has been adding to the list of projects granting agreements since soon after it went on strike against the AMPTP after failing to agree on a new film and TV contract. Under the terms, members “may work on these productions without being in violation of the strike order,” per the guild.

On July 27, SAG-AFTRA began granting casting-specific agreements that allow its members to “audition and/or engage in negotiations regarding casting for these productions, but may not yet travel, rehearse, or otherwise begin rendering services for the production.”

Cody Rhodes is one of the leading figures in professional wrestling, but his path to the top has not been a straight one.

In the new Peacock documentary “American Nightmare: Becoming Cody Rhodes,” the WWE star delves deep into his past and sets his sights on the future. In the feature-length doc, Rhodes talks at length on his feelings growing up as the son of legendary wrestler Dusty Rhodes and how he learned to trust his instincts and bet on himself in his quest to reach the highest echelon of sports entertainment.

In the following Q&a, Rhodes tells Variety about how he felt ready to become “The American Nightmare” in tribute to his father, known as “The American Dream,” as well as the one part of the documentary he struggled to watch.

You talk in the doc about how you weren’t ready to be The American Nightmare early in your career.

When Cody Rhodes left WWE in 2016, it sent shockwaves. How could the son of the legendary “American Dream” Dusty Rhodes leave a sure thing and six-figure contract behind for the unknown? The driven performer’s gamble paid off big time, building a name all his own working across many companies. He then in effect helped change the landscape of the industry with The Young Bucks thanks to their one-off independent show All In. Despite naysayers, the show sold out a 10,000-seat arena and set the gears in motion for what would become All Elite Wrestling. Rhodes once again surprised fans in 2022 when the 38-year-old exited Aew, leaving behind the position of executive vice president and regular top spot on the card. At WrestleMania 38 the “American Nightmare” returned home, setting social media ablaze. A common thread for each of these chapters of his career has been the decision to bet on himself.

Not every TV and film production will stop amid dual strikes by SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild of America. A host of projects stopped work after writers went on strike against media companies for better pay, streaming data transparency and protections against artificial intelligence (among other issues), and many more have paused since actors walked out on July 14.

There are exceptions, however. SAG-AFTRA’s strike rules allow for work on productions covered under different agreements, and the union can grant waivers or sign interim agreements with independent productions. Below is a list of TV shows and films that fall under those designations; this story will be updated as more productions earn waivers.

Hulu has revealed a new look at Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short in the third season of “Only Murders in the Building,” which is set to premiere on August 8.

Season 3 will follow Charles (Martin), Oliver (Short) and Mabel (Gomez) as they dig deeper into a murder that takes place behind the scenes of a Broadway show. Ben Glenroy’s (Paul Rudd) Broadway debut is shortened after his sudden death, in which Charles, Oliver and Mabel band together to investigate. Peacock has announced the official premiere date along and dropped the official trailer for the new documentary American Nightmare: Becoming Cody Rhodes.

Set to premiere on Peacock on July 31, the biographical documentary dives into the rise of WWE favorite Cody Rhodes, from his childhood as the son of pro wrestling legend Dusty Rhodes to his recent main event match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. Arrow star Stephen Amell, who has made several WWE appearances and currently plays a pro wrestler in the Starz series Heels, serves as the narrator for American Nightmare: Becoming Cody Rhodes.

Developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by Microsoft Game Studios, the video game Alan Wake begins with the narrator quoting a line that was written by Stephen King – and during an interview with Eurogamer, Remedy boss Sam Lake revealed that King only charged them $1 to use that line.

In case you’re not familiar with Alan Wake (as I wasn’t before seeing the article on the Eurogamer website), Eurogamer provides the information: Alan Wake begins with a sequence where we see the title character driving through the lonely countryside, over which we hear him deliver the following lines: “Stephen King once wrote that ‘Nightmares exist outside of logic, and there’s little fun to be had in explanations; they’re antithetical to the poetry of fear.’ In a horror story, the victim keeps asking ‘Why?’ But there can be no explanation, and there shouldn’t be one. The unanswered...

Although The CW's Supernatural had many hilarious moments and episodes, the series will always be rooted in horror, and because of this, every season of the show has some truly scary episodes. Supernatural follows brothers Sam and Dean Winchester who hunt monsters, demons, and evil entities for a living. The series ran for 15 seasons and had 327 episodes by its end.

While the earlier seasons of Supernatural may arguably be scarier than the later seasons, each of these episodes represents the most terrifying of their season. The episodes typically include particularly horrifying monsters, both paranormal and human-esque, both of which send chills down audiences' spines. Furthermore, some of these episodes stand out in the horror department because of the plot implications they represent. Overall though, the current episodes are some of the most talked about installments of Supernatural to date and are sure to make most viewers uncomfortable in some capacity.

Until recently, it wasn't clear exactly how Cody Rhodes injured his pectoral muscle following his WWE return last year. It'd been reported that The American Nightmare had torn the muscle while training for his Hell In A Cell match against Seth Rollins, but details beyond that were nonexistent. Fans were told that The Visionary was responsible for the torn pectoral muscle in storyline, but unsurprisingly, that wasn't the issue's genesis. Cody Rhodes somehow managed to wrestle at Hell In A Cell despite the evident damage, leading to one of the gutsiest performances in WWE history.

The Royal Rumble winner recently appeared on Logan Paul's YouTube show, Impaulvisve, and discussed how the injury initially occurred. Canadian distributor Mongrel Media will bring the supernatural title The Harrowing to audiences, in December. Strangely, the film will debut on Christmas Day. From director Jon Keeyes ("American Nightmare"), this title involves a detective - in search of his best friend. In a forensic hospital, he finds a demonic Hell, instead. This title will also move to the United Kingdom and U.S. markets, through Film Mode Entertainment at a later date. A preview of the film's Canadian release is hosted here. A new trailer is available for The Harrowing. The clip shows Ryan (Matthew Tompkins) dealing with a supernatural entity, which appears indestructible.
