Larry Rosen Dies: ‘The Partridge Family’ Producer Was 84

Larry Rosen, a producer of The Partridge Family, the Sally Field sitcom The Girl With Something Extra and The Mike Douglas Show, died Sept. 14 in Los Angeles of complications from pancreatic cancer. He was 84.

His death was announced by his family.

A native of Newark, New Jersey, Larry Rosen started his television career in Youngstown, Ohio, later moving to Philadelphia where he worked as a producer on the Emmy-nominated The Mike Douglas Show.

After moving to California, Rosen worked for Screen Gems, Columbia Pictures TV, and dick clark productions. Rosen produced ABC’s hit sitcom The Partridge Family from 1971-73 before leaving to produce another Bernard Slade creation The Girl With Something Extra, starring Sally Field as a woman with Esp and John Davidson as her hapless husband. Despite the popularity of its stars, the sitcom lasted for only one season – 1973-74 – at the tail-end of the Bewitched-i Dream of Jeannie supernatural craze.

Georgia Engel, "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" Star, Dies at 70
Georgia Engel
Georgia Engel, who starred as Georgette Franklin on the “Mary Tyler Moore Show” between 1972 and 1977, has died at the age of 70, according to the New York Times.

She died late last week in Princeton, New Jersey. A cause of death had not been determined; the actress was a Christian Scientist and didn’t see a doctor, Engel’s friend John Quilty told the Times.

After beginning her career in theater in the late 1960s and early ’70s, Engel made her name on television co-starring on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” in 1972. As the flighty girlfriend of Ted Knight’s news anchor character, Ted Baxter, Engel earned two Emmy nominations for supporting actress in a comedy.

She would later go on to star on the short-lived comedies “The Betty White Show” and NBC’s “Jennifer Slept Here,” in addition to later recurring roles on “Coach,...

Poltergeist’s Diminutive Psychic Zelda Rubinstein Dies
Character actress Zelda Rubinstein was best known for her role in the 1982 horror film Poltergeist. She starred as psychic Tangina Barrons, who’s small stature and childlike voice added more chills to the 1982 horror film about demonic forces at a suburban home. She reprised her role in the two sequels Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986) and Poltergeist III (1988).

Rubinstein was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on May 28, 1933. She worked as a medical technician, before embarking upon an acting career in the early 1980s. the 4′3″ actress was cast in the 1981 film Under the Rainbow, and she became an outspoken critic of the way little people portraying Munchkins in the film were depicted. She soon formed the Michael Dunn Memorial Repertory Theater Company in Los Angeles to give acting opportunities to other little people.

Though of small size, she also made a large impression in the films Anguish (1987), Teen Witch (1989), Guilty as Charged...
