Perché non facciamo l'amore?

1 review

For die-hard Barbara Bouchet fans only

A married dentist is lured from his busy practice to make a house-call at a secluded estate by a sexy brunette (Barbara Bouchet). There he meets the woman's equally sexy blonde sister (also played by Bouchet)and her older brother-in-law who enlists him in a hare-brained scheme to convince his wife to take up abstinence so that he has more energy for his young mistress (Cinzia Di Ponti). You heard that right--he wants to NOT have sex with Barbara Bouchet (although how a dentist is going to encourage abstinence is never adequately explained). The wife meanwhile has her own plans--she seduces the husband of the mistress (who is the estate's trigger-happy security guard), and with the help of the dentist tries to convince the younger couple to give up sex as well. Meanwhile, the dentist is trying to rendevouz with the brunette sister, but keeps being frustrated, not the least of which by a pair of vicious guard dogs. (This subplot and the presence of Bouchet are the only things that really justified this being sold as a sequel to the Sergio Martino comedy anthology "Sex with a Smile").

Barbara Bouchet had been a Euro-trash mainstay for fifteen years by the time she made this, and she still looks very good. But while it's nice to see her throw herself into a comedy and take on two different roles, this kind of film just doesn't work too well when the lead actress (or in this case, the "two" lead actresses) does NOT do a nude scene. There is SOME nudity courtesy of DiPonti (aka Miss Italy 1979), but it's still disappointing that Bouchet is kept uncharacteristically under wraps. The plot is obviously pretty stupid, but I saw it on an Argentine videotape in Italian with Spanish subtitles so it didn't seem nearly as stupid as it would have been dubbed into English. I'd still really only recommend it for die-hard Bouchet fans though.
