One of the final films of actor Peter Arne. He was murdered on 1st August 1983 at the age of 62. The others were 'The Far Pavilions' (1984) and 'Curse of the Pink Panther' (1983).
The only ever feature film directed by prolific British television director Michael E. Briant.
The film was made and first released about three years after its source novel 'The Shadow Spy' by novelist Nicholas Luard had been first published in 1979.
This film's story-line according to Australian home video sleeve notes involves ''the disappearance of a key British intelligence officer in Gibraltar''. In the later James Bond movie 'The Living Daylights' (1987), which was made and first released about five years later, a number of British Secret Service agents at the start of the picture are killed on the Rock of Gibraltar. Moreover, Tangiers is also featured as a setting and filming location in 'The Living Daylights' (1987).
Actor Ronald Fraser received a 'guest appearance' credit.
