Director Mike Roth is excited to expand the world of the upcoming animated series, Bat-Family, which will feature the same core characters from Merry Little Batman. The animation style of Merry Little Batman is a change for The Dark Knight, and Roth is eager to bring more of the Batman family into this unique design filter. Bat-Family will follow Batman, Alfred, and Damian Wayne as they navigate the joys and challenges of life as a super family.

Speaking exclusively with MovieWeb, director Mike Roth teases details regarding his upcoming animated series, Bat-Family, the follow-up to this festive season’s Merry Little Batman. Long before Merry Little Batman hit Prime Video and became one of the most inventive animated holiday streaming films in recent years, its sequel series was already planned, with Roth beaming with delight as he reveals it will be “the same core characters” while expanding the world.

Fatherhood apparently has a way of slowing you down. Take Batman, for instance. He’s clearly not at his fittest in this new Amazon Prime animated film, in which he looks more like a burly lumberjack than a superhero, wearing dad jeans, a flannel shirt and a heavy beard. That would be Damian, his eight-year-old son, who clearly takes after his old man when it comes to fighting supervillains.

Chip and Joanna Gaines continue to expand their roster of Magnolia Network series with the announcement of four new family-friendly unscripted shows. The four series are currently in development for Max and are targeting a 2024 launch on the streaming service.

Exclusive: Sony Pictures Entertainment has signed an overall deal with the writing and producing team of Eduardo Cisneros and Jason Shuman under their new production arm, RaqMar Entertainment.

The new entity will focus on writing and producing with a multicultural emphasis for the theatrical market. They will also cultivate up-and-coming talent by mentoring new voices from the U.S. and international/bilingual markets.

“It is critically important to us to tell stories that subvert negative stereotypes and embrace cultural specificity in an authentic way, and we are grateful to Sony Pictures for their robust support in helping us to achieve that goal,” said Cisneros in a statement to Deadline. “Our company name, RaqMar, signifies convergence and we are honored to be in a place where underrepresented points of view meet storytelling with a global theatrical appeal.”

Cisneros co-wrote and co-produced the 2013 Spanish-language hit, Instructions Not Included which generated over $100 million at the box office globally.

Landaeta describes his debut feature as a thriller set in the late ‘70s when Bolivia is in the grip of a military dictatorship.

“It is precisely in this universe, plagued by terror and violence, when the lives of four people intersect on the eve of a coup,” Landaeta explained, who likens his script’s structure to that of Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s seminal “Amores Perros” where four seemingly disparate stories are linked to one incident. Before I could catch my breath, I was already aware that it would take the entire season for Eleven to reunite with the boys, and I felt heartbroken. I didn’t mind the spoilers, I was just more frustrated that there wasn’t time to process all the twists and turns. From that point on (and maybe before) I rebelled, sometimes loudly, against the Netflix binge-model. For the most part, my cries for a more traditional release schedule were somehow heard. I mean, you can’t imagine either season of The Mandalorian dropping all at once. Similarly, Star Trek: Discovery certainty benefits from the weekly episode drop, giving fans plenty to talk about and think about until the next week.

Disney Plus has tapped superstar Palmer to host “Foodtastic,” an unscripted build competition series where teams are challenged to generate Disney-inspired works of culinary art.

The quadruple threat — acting, singing, daytime talk show hosting and activism— can also now add a fifth accomplishment to her résumé: executive producing. Palmer will executive produce the 11-episode series slated to premiere on the House of Mouse’s streaming platform later in 2021. In addition to Palmer, Josh Silberman, Sarah Happel Jackson and Endemol Shine North America’s Sharon Levy, DJ Nurre and Michael Heyerman are executive producers.

The long-running hit comedy series will be available to Hulu and Peacock subscribers beginning February 3, it was jointly announced today by Hulu and Peacock.

As part of the unprecedented multi-year shared agreement with Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution, both Hulu and Peacock will be the dedicated subscription streaming homes to all 250 "Modern Family" episodes spanning 11 seasons.

It also marks the first time the entire series will be available on a subscription video-on-demand platform in the U.S.

During its historic run, the fan-favorite series was available for next-day viewing to Hulu subscribers.
