Zero Mostel in Foreplay (1975)

Trivia

Foreplay

Edit
This film was originally shot with four segments - hence the title. It was only released with three segments, but a photo feature on the film published in the April 1974 issue of Playboy magazine mentioned that the last segment had been deleted. The pictures accompanying this article were a combination of photos shot on set and recreations of various scenes (including different models/actresses that were not seen in the film).
The fourth segment was titled "Twice on Top", written by Terry Southern, directed by William F. Claxton and starring Rip Torn. Southern's script was 12 pages long and described as a 'comic allegory dealing with society's evils and female innocence. However, according to interviews with the other three directors, producer Carl Gurevich thought the script was to avant-garde and scrapped it before it was shot, replacing it with the Professor Irwin Corey segments.
Actress Barbara Harris was originally going to play the First Lady in the third segment but had to pull out and was replaced with Estelle Parsons.
"Foreplay" was re-cut and re-released under the title "The President's Women", with new scenes shot featuring Zero Mostel, Jerry Orbach and Pat Paulsen. In this version, all three segments are told as flashbacks, with the now elderly former President (Mostel) recounting his story to the BBC in a program called 'Going Down in History'. Orbach and Paulsen appeared as secret service agents assigned to the ex-president and in turn recounted their respective stories.
Debut of actress Annie Korzen.
