Harry H. Corbett's character was closely modelled on former British Prime Minister Harold Wilson, using such Wilson catchphrases as "thirteen years of Tory misrule," and talking with a Yorkshire accent.
Denholm Elliott reprises his role as Emmanuel (later Sir Emmanuel) Whitbread from Mon petit oiseau s'appelle Percy, il va beaucoup mieux merci ! (1971). Elke Sommer and Adrienne Posta also appeared in that film, but playing different parts.
