I will not vote for it, but anything with George Reeves as Superman is good to have, of course, doing some corrections on the movie would be good... Well, some "bad" episodes were taken from the original show but they are not that bad as long as the story line is good, has conflict and interest and anxiety... GEORGE REEVES LIVES ON, NO SUICIDE!
GEORGE REEVES LIVES ON, NO SUICIDE!
Part of this movie was from the Adventures of Superman TV series from 1957. The episode which Joi appeared as Superman's wife was titled "Superman's Wife". She did an excellent job and brought an unusual amount of sexuality to the scenes. If the edited version was not put together properly, as another Superman movie--"The Mole People", which was a compilation, it does not take away from the fun and excitement of Superman as we remember. All of these weekly episodes were written to stand alone. When mixed together, they may have a different feel and ending. We have to remember how lucky we are to be able to re-live the fun of watching these shows again after all these years. It is unfortunate that Joi died from breast cancer at such a young age. But watching her even in a mediocre movie is fun!
Even though 4 shorts have been combined into a movie, all color episodes, it is still good, only they should have shown more of Inspector Henderson and he was was missing in the last episode of Superman, I believe first and last shows must have all their people on the show. At any rate, I recommend them movie because it brings back memories and gives Reeves posthumous role, he deserves, there is another movie with Reeves, Superman and Jungle people (or jungle devil, hope that's correct?), black and white, also from episodes. Good movie, but could have edited a little bit better... Reeves did not kill himself! Death Certificate must be changed!
I found this to be a very enjoyable installment of Superman. George Reeves is the reason that Superman got so popular and the reason it got to the point where Christopher Reeve would take over. As well as Dean Cain. Definitely worth watching, any superman fan will enjoy this film.
