Rhino has unveiled a new David Lee Roth box set, The Warner Recordings 1985-1994, arriving on vinyl and CD on February 21st.
The 5-lp and 5-cd box sets house Roth’s solo recordings following his exit from Van Halen in 1985, beginning with the Crazy from the Heat EP and its hit song “Just a Gigolo.”
Dlr followed that up with the successful Eat ‘Em and Smile LP in 1986, featuring Roth teamed up with an all-star backing band featuring bassist Billy Sheehan, drummer Gregg Bissonette, and guitar virtuoso Steve Vai. Roth then went on to release three more LPs on Warner including 1988’s Skyscraper, 1991’s A Little Ain’t Enough, and 1994’s Your Filthy Little Mouth.
Of note for collectors, the upcoming vinyl box set will contain the first-ever repressing of Your Filthy Little Mouth, which was only released on vinyl in Germany in 1994, making it a scarce and pricey original pressing.

Anne Charrier (The Last Deadly Mission), Eriq Ebanouey (Fox Hunt), Laika Blanc Francard (My Night), Romain Levi (The Tunnel) and newcomer Louis Puech Scigliuzzi are set as series regulars opposite Norman Reedus, Clémence Poésy and Adam Nagaitis in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, AMC’s spinoff from its flagship drama. Filming is currently underway in France, with premiere set for later this year on AMC and AMC+.
Set after the series conclusion of Twd, the Reedus-led offshoot finds the zombie apocalypse fan favorite transported across the Atlantic to France and a whole new level of a world gone mad.
In the spinoff, Daryl (Reedus) washes ashore in France and struggles to piece together how he got there and why. The series tracks his journey across a broken but resilient France as he hopes to find a way back home. As he makes the journey, though, the connections he forms along...

If one were to list the greatest rock n’ roll frontmen of all time, Van Halen’s David Lee Roth would be near the top. With a swagger and look that seemed tailor-made for the MTV era, Roth was riding high in the eighties and, for a while, was among the biggest rock stars on the planet.
Think about the greatest rock songs of the era, and I bet “Hot for Teacher,” “Jump,” and “Panama” are among the first that come to mind. All three songs came from Van Halen’s most popular album ever, 1984, but despite their insane success, all was not well in the band, particularly between Roth and the late, great Eddie Van Halen. As a result of their tension, Roth went solo in 1985, and Van Halen brought in Sammy Hagar to usher them into the post-Roth era. While the band still did well with Hagar, it...

Out on June 29th here in North America, Shout Factory releases --- to my knowledge --- a rarely-seen David Bowie film on Blu-ray, Just a Gigolo. Bowie stars as Paul Ambrosius von Przygodski, a Prussian solider whose been injured in the very last battle of WWI, just as it has come to an end. (What luck!) After healing up in a French hospital, where they celebrate then get upset because he’s not French, Przygodski returns home to Berlin. There, he finds his family laid low. His aunt and mother --- who’ve turned their home into a boarding house --- are shocked to learn that he’s not dead, as reported. He’s also come home with a rather large pig he’s somehow acquired, chased through the...
