Narrated in the first person , Leticia Valle (Emma Suarez) , a preadolescent of almost twelve years , from her residence together with her uncles in Switzerland , recalls the events that precipitated her departure from Spain . Based on the 1945 Memorias de Leticia Valle -Memoirs of Leticia Valle- is the fictionalized diary of an eleven-year-old girl who records an "inconceivable" seduction . Leticia Valle (Emma Suárez) is a teenager from a town in Old Castilla in 1912 . In the Castilian town , Leticia began to receive music classes from Doña Luisa (Jeannine Mestre) . Her husband , Don Daniel also becomes her teacher (Ramiro Oliveros) . Later on , she has to emigrate to Switzerland to live with her uncles due to a sudden tragedy .
Based on a novel by the Spanish writer Rosa Chacel , Leticia Valle is a girl from Castilla who emigrates to Switzerland and the story tells how she got to that situation . This is a brave and warm rendition by writer/director Miguel Angel Rivas and reciently deceased novelist Antonio Gala ; stars a very young new comer Emma Suarez who proves at his starts how to be a fine actress and an amazing cast that shines above all the great Fernando Rey . Filmmaker Rivas plays his cards very well , including gorgeous photography by cameraman Carlos Suárez , shot on various locations in Cuenca, Castilla-La Mancha , Simancas, Valladolid, Castilla y León, España . Adding an elaborate as well as engaging script that makes this film attractive enough , though being a forgotten and really obscure film . Plus , a beautiful music by composer Alberto Bourbón makes this little film even better . The story isn't out of tune and does not clash , progresseing little by little until we discover the whole truth .
¨Memories of Leticia Valle¨ is a decent film made with sense enough and high sensitivity in which the life of a pensive adolescent in a Castilian town is narrated , as events that go wrong unfold . As Leticia remembers how she settled with her family in the little town of Simancas , living along with her demanding aunt - Esperanza Roy- since her father -very well played by veteran Fernando Rey- , who had fought in the Moroccan War , needed peace of mind to recover . However , this context, with Leticia waking up to life , leads to a scandal in the small town that leads to a tragedy . Along with these actors , showing up here and there prestigious secondaries , such as : Jeannine Mestre , Héctor Alterio , Queta Claver , Francisco Casares , Helga Liné , María Elena Flores , Juan Jesús Valverde , among others .
The motion picture was professionally written/produced/directed by Miguel Ángel Rivas , though it has some flaws and gaps. Rivas was director assistant , producer , writer , and filmmaker known for ¨Otra vez adiós¨ (1980) , ¨Borrasca¨ (1978) , ¨A mí qué me importa que explote Miami¨ (1976) and ¨Memorias de Leticia Valle¨ (1979) . Sometimes you are surprised by little gems that undoubtedly deserve to be known more .
