A number of the production personnel who worked on this film worked on director Esben Storm's previous film 27A (1974). These included actors Richard Moir, Bill Hunter and Rick Ireland, and DOPs Michael Edols and Malcolm Richards.
Production filming in Melbourne ran for two weeks before location filming on-the-road started, traveling along the Eastern coast of Australia through Yarrum, Lakes Entrance, Tilba Tilba, Sydney, the Gold Coast and Surfers Paradise.
The old car seen that went on the road along the Eastern seaboard of Australia was a black 1938 Buick sedan.
This film was originally conceptualized as a television series.
Production filming on this movie started on 28 February 1977 which was exactly four years to the day after the director Esben Storm's previous film 27A (1974) had also gone into production.
