Spoiler Alert: This interview contains details from the film Lake George
In Jeffrey Reiner’s neo-noir road movie Lake George, two unlikely strangers team up to try and take down a love-spurned mobster. The film, which marks the first reuniting of actors Shea Whigham and Carrie Coon since the pair appeared in Season 3 of Fargo, follows Don (Whigham), a reserved claims adjuster who took the fall for a mobster (Glenn Fleshler) who has just been released from prison. Upon his return to society, the mobster is ready to settle his debts and exact his revenge by tasking Don to kill his disloyal ex Phyllis (Coon) without hesitation.
Unable to pull the trigger on the obstinate, spitfire Phyllis, the guilt-ridden Don instead works with her as they travel through the mobster’s criminal network in Glendale, Goleta and the Mammoth Lakes, trying to get what they’re owed. Reiner tells Deadline that Lake George,...

Erstwhile Boardwalk Empire star Jack Huston makes his debut as a feature film writer/director with Day of the Fight, a heartfelt indie drama that follows a disgraced boxer, Irish Mike (Michael C. Pitt), on the day of his big comeback bout at Madison Square Garden. Shot in New York City in glorious black and white, Day of the Fight succeeds thanks to its tight script, which slowly peels back the layers surrounding Irish Mike, his past, and his relationships with his friends and family, and an outstanding supporting cast, including Nicolette Robinson, Ron Perlman, Steve Buscemi, John Magaro, and Joe Pesci.
While Day of the Fight marks Jack Huston's debut as a feature film writer and director, he demonstrates an outstanding command of visual language, enhanced by his heart-wrenching script. Clearly, he was paying attention during his career as an actor.

We’re dubbing 2025 the year of Carrie Coon. Why? Because it will not only mark the return of the actress in her beloved period drama, The Gilded Age, but it will also see her hop into another fan-favorite HBO series with Season 3 of The White Lotus. Unfortunately, both of those titles are quite a long ways off. But, there is good news. If you’ve had your fill of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the actress does, in fact, have another title coming out before the end of the year. Titled Lake George, the crime comedy thriller sees The Leftovers actress star opposite Boardwalk Empire alum, Shea Whigham. Today, just ahead of the film’s digital and on demand arrival, Collider is thrilled to bring our readers an exclusive sneak peek of the hilarity to come when Coon and Whigham’s characters bite off more than they can chew.

Bobby Cannavale is setting the record straight on Martin Scorsese’s short-lived series “Vinyl.”
Cannavale led the 1970s-set rock and roll show that debuted on HBO in 2016. With Mick Jagger executive producing and Scorsese directing the pilot, it seemed like the next juggernaut series for the premium-cable (and now streaming) brand. However, despite initially handing “Vinyl” a Season 2 renewal, HBO pulled the plug on the show.
“[It] was years in the making, and it was just in Marty’s pocket for years, getting ready to make that movie — and that, for all intents and purposes, is a Martin Scorsese movie. It’s a two-hour pilot. That was one of those ones that you go, Well, shit, it really didn’t get put out the right way,” Cannavale told Vanity Fair. “You can Monday-morning quarterback these things: We really were screwed out by circumstances that we didn’t have any control over.

Actor Jack Huston says two creative sparks convinced him to make his feature directing debut with boxing drama Day of the Fight. The first concerned the premise; the second, his star.
“Several years ago, I was watching Stanley Kubrick’s first film, a documentary short he shot in 1951, also called Day of the Fight,” Huston says. The film famously follows the great Irish American boxer Walter Cartier over the course of an ordinary day as he prepares for a 10 p.m. title bout.
“It’s this amazing glimpse into the real life of a boxer,” Huston explains. “He eats breakfast, he goes to church, he visits his twin brother, he goes around town — and it’s all leading up to a big prize fight. I remember thinking, ‘What a wonderful premise for a deeper narrative to develop.’ As we follow our boxer through his day and meet the people in his world,...

With acclaimed TV shows like The Sopranos, The Wire, and True Detective, HBO has a reputation for delivering consistently high-quality crime/drama TV shows set (predominantly) in the modern day. However, as a network, HBO has proven to be similarly dependable at producing impressive historical dramas, with large budgets and seriously massive star power that ensure such shows have a remarkable cinematic quality to them. Perhaps the best-known of these historical dramas would be Rome, which ran for two seasons (2005-2007) and was set during the 1st century BC, depicting various historical events with fictionalized versions of real-life people, aiming to show the beginning of the Roman Empire. There's also Boardwalk Empire, with a cast of characters — some fictional, and some based on real-life historical figures — who populate Atlantic City during the Prohibition era. Then there's also Carnivàle, which had fictional characters and fantastical elements, but was explicitly set during...

The Boardwalk Empire star on how the Republicans have held the Us hostage and why the pursuit of money is not a worthy goal
Dressed in dark colours and a black baseball cap, in person the 55-year-old Steve Buscemi cuts basically the same slight, rumpled figure we met a quarter-century ago in Jim Jarmusch's Mystery Train. He might be a roadie coming off a world tour. His famously exophthalmic eyes are a washed-out blue and he's tired, back home in Brooklyn after staying at his house in upstate New York. He likes to go there and hang out and do nothing, he says, maybe take a walk or do a bit of yardwork: he spent the weekend raking leaves. Self-effacing, friendly, polite, it's clear he's here under low-grade sufferance; interviews, he says in his quick, metallic, slightly strangulated way, "aren't my favourite thing to do".
