Image
What Did Kiss of Life Do?(Photo Credit –Instagram)

K-pop group Kiss of Life (aka Kiof) has been making headlines recently for the members’ alleged controversial outfits during Julie’s birthday livestream in April. The members faced major backlash due to their outfits, speech, actions, and hairstyles in the livestream.

Fans’ opinions were strong as the members reportedly dressed in outfits that depicted racial stereotypes of Black people. The outfits consisted of big gold chains, cornrow hairstyles, Bantu knots, and hats. The members also attempted to freestyle and rap during the livestream, further adding to the alleged racist, stereotypical behavior.

Julie born in Hawaii said the n-word and apologized, Belle born in Seattle acting crazy, I actually liked Kiss of Life and I thought Julie’s apology was sincere but this proves that black people are just something you can make fun of but if you get blacklash your sorry pic.

The Night Agent season 2 episode 7 recap: Peter goes rogue
Image
The Night Agent season 2 episode 7, “Tilt,” opens with another flashback. Man, the writers love an episode-opening flashback in this season, don’t they?

This time, it’s when Solomon Vega (Berto Colon) meets Jacob Monroe (Louis Herthum). Jacob is pulled over on the side of the road waiting for a toy truck when resident nice guy, Solomon, arrives to help wait it out. Solomon reveals that his sister lost her legs in a hit-and-run accident and the police never found him.

After going their separate ways, Solomon finds an envelope on his car with the identity of the person who hit and injured his sister. It’s obviously from Jacob, and there’s a job offer, too, and that’s how their partnership begins.

Peter interrogates Solomon Vega

At a safe house where they are holding Solomon, Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) and Catherine Weaver (Amanda Warren) discuss what’s next...

20th Century Wins Pre-Holiday Bidding War For Edward Berger & Austin Butler’s Time Travel Film ‘The Barrier’ Based On MacMillan Hedges Short Story
Image
Exclusive: In a highly competitive situation, 20th looks to have found something to be thankful for as it has landed rights to The Barrier, the hot time-travel package teaming All Quiet on the Western Front helmer Edward Berger and Elvis Oscar nominee Austin Butler. Based on the short story by MacMillan Hedges, Deadline first reported that package was hitting the market before Thanksgiving holiday last Wednesday and had every major bidder in town chasing.

Insiders say the package had 11 studios chasing it with 20th landing winning bid and while exact details are unknown sources say the sale came in around the seven figure range for the rights as well as for Hedges to adapt.

Disney Live-Action And 20th Century Studio President David Greenbaum was very hands on in the process and insiders say one of the big selling points was a blind script deal for another project for Hedges down the road.

Image
Exclusive: All Quiet on the Western Front helmer Edward Berger and Elvis Oscar nominee Austin Butler are out to the town with The Barrier, a hot time-travel package that is expected to spur competitive bidding, sources tell Deadline.

Plot details for the film, based on a short story by MacMillan Hedges, are under wraps, though we hear it’s been discussed as Interstellar meets Top Gun. Berger will direct from a script by Hedges and produce alongside the scribe, with Butler to star and executive produce. The package hit the market Wednesday, as a big buzz title heading into Thanksgiving, with top executives around town asking to meet and hear the take.

After seeing his Netflix WWI epic All Quiet on the Western Front snap up four Oscars, including Best International Feature Film, the German-born Berger has emerged as one of the most sought-after directors around town. He’s in...

Public Broadcasters Take Limelight at 35th Edition of Cartoon Forum
Image
Public broadcasters have taken center stage at this year’s Cartoon Forum, which runs Sept. 16–19 in Toulouse. With the European animation industry still facing a market crunch linked to substantially reduced streaming investment – and as producers now grapple with tough headwinds and reduced opportunities – industry eyes have turned to state funds.

Indeed, public stations make up all four nominees for Cartoon Forum’s Broadcaster of the Year tribute – among them Arte (France/Germany), Rts (Switzerland), Rtv (Slovenia), and 3Cat (Spain) – while for the second consecutive edition 15 members of the European Broadcasting Union (Ebu) have joined forces for a co-development initiative to collectively finance two chosen projects.

This 35th edition of Cartoon Forum will also host a meeting between 10 additional broadcasters from Central and Eastern Europe meant to promote further collaborations and to create a more agile domino market, where if one broadcaster acquires a title, others might quickly follow suit.

Casa Bonita, the beloved Denver restaurant featured in a 2003 episode of South Park, has filed for bankruptcy, according to documents reviewed by Colorado’s 9news.

The Mexican restaurant was compelled to shut its doors in March of 2020, following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic—and since then, it has remained closed.

In the South Park episode written and directed by the show’s co-creator Trey Parker, Casa Bonita hosts the birthday of Kyle (co-creator Matt Stone), as Cartman (Parker) tries to coordinate Butters’ disappearance. Serving the Denver area for 46 years, Casa Bonita is also known for its 30-foot waterfall, arcade and inviting atmosphere.

Casa Bonita’s owners, Summit Family Restaurants, reportedly filed for Chapter 11 on April 6, meaning that they are allowed to propose a...

‘Super Pumped: The Battle For Uber’ Limited Series Adaptation From ‘Billions’ Duo In Works At Showtime
Showtime is taking on the story of Uber, putting in development an untitled limited series based on Mike Isaac’s bestselling book Super Pumped: The Battle For Uber, from Billions co-creators Brian Koppelman and David Levien.

The book, published by W.W. & Company, Inc. on September 3, chronicles the founding of Uber through its 2019 initial public offering.

Pivoting on Travis Kalanick, Uber’s hard-charging CEO who was ultimately ousted in a boardroom coup, Showtime says the limited series will depict the roller-coaster ride of the upstart transportation company, embodying the highs and lows of Silicon Valley. Even amid the radical upheaval generated within the global tech capital, Uber stands out as both a marvel and a cautionary tale, featuring internal and external battles that ripple with unpredictable consequences.

Koppelman and Levien will executive produce and write the series as part of their overall deal with Showtime, which will produce. Isaac will co-executive produce the project.

Flashback: Scott Walker Conducts a Meat Puncher in the Studio
“It’s very stark,” Scott Walker says of his music in a 2006 interview for the documentary 30 Century Man. “As I go on, things get starker.”

Did they ever. It’s hard to think of a popular, or once-popular, musician whose work transformed more completely, or fascinatingly, than Scott Walker’s did during the course of his career. Starting out crooning big, dramatic pop ballads with the Walker Brothers — “Walker” was none of the three members’ actual last name; Scott was born Noel Scott Engel — he gradually moved toward a kind...
