Olivia Hussey, who dazzled moviegoers as the female lead in Franco Zeffirelli‘s noteworthy 1968 adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, died Friday at her Los Angeles home of breast cancer. She was 73.

The Argentina-born actress died “surrounded by her loved ones,” according to an announcement on her official Instagram account. “Olivia was a remarkable person whose warmth, wisdom, and pure kindness touched the lives of all who knew her,” the post reads.

She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008.

Hussey was just 15 when she starred opposite British actor Leonard Whiting, 16, as Romeo in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Both were unknowns. Few horror movies are as fantastic or as retroactively controversial as "Rosemary's Baby." Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage is stepping into the little gray cells of one of the worlds most iconic detectives, as he lends his voice to Agatha Christies Hercule Poirot in a new Audible production. Dinklage will lead a huge cast for the dramatized version of Christies classic novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, in the latest iteration of the character. The synopsis provided by the official Agatha Christie website reads:

The upcoming adaptation will tell "the story of an injured and traumatized Captain Hastings (Himesh Patel), who has been invited to a large country estate (Styles Court) to recover after serving in World War I. With tensions tearing the family apart, what seems like a perfect haven soon turns into a nightmare, as the matriarch of the family Emily Inglethorp (Harriet Walter) is brutally murdered.

"With a full ensemble of characters with motives for the murder, nobody is above suspicion.

The entertainment industry and fans all across the world are mourning the sudden passing of Hollywood legend Maggie Smith, who had a phenomenal career spanning over seven decades and delivered beloved performances in celebrated film and television franchises, including Harry Potter and Downton Abbey, as well as acclaimed roles in hits like Othello, Death on the Nile, Hook, and Sister Act.

Netflix has acquired in an auction the worldwide rights to “Heart of Stone,” a spy thriller that will star Gal Gadot in what could be an action franchise in the vein of the “Mission: Impossible” series for Skydance Media.

“The Old Guard” writer Greg Rucka wrote the screenplay with Allison Schroeder. Tom Harper, known for “The Aeronauts” and “Wild Rose,” will direct.

Plot details are being kept under wraps.

Gadot would also produce through her Pilot Wave banner along with Jaron Varsano, Bonnie Curtis, and Julie Lyn, and Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger will also produce.

Exclusive: Netflix has prevailed in a competitive auction for worldwide rights on Heart of Stone, the espionage thriller developed by Skydance Media with Gal Gadot starring. Tom Harper, who helmed The Aeronauts and Wild Rose, will direct a film that aspires to hatch a female-centric franchise with the action and global scale of films like Mission: Impossible and 007.

It is the second major deal with a streamer this week for a Skydance-generated tentpole-sized film, after Amazon acquired the Chris Pratt starrer The Tomorrow War.

The deal brings Gadot back into the Netflix fold. The actress, who just opened in Wonder Woman 1984 for WarnerMedia, will star with Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds in Netflix tentpole Red Notice, the Rawson Marshall Thurber-directed heist film.

Deadline revealed Skydance Media film in December, when David Ellison and team at Skydance signed an eight-figure deal for Gadot to star in Heart of Stone.

It was the only way to see older theatrical titles in their uncensored form. My own experience at the University of Illinois provided 8 to 10 films per weekend with recent Hollywood hits, classic revivals and the occasional porn flick being the usual choices. Lecture halls, auditoriums and even church sanctuaries were converted to temporary cinemas that offered a cornucopia in 16mm. These were quality exhibitions with twin projectors, external speakers for clear dialogue and anamorphic lenses when needed. It seemed a little odd that one could view a somewhat racy movie in the same space that would be used for worship the next morning. This is quite a big deal.’” Emma Mackey spent the last few months of 2019 filming Death on the Nile, the second of Kenneth Branagh’s Poirot adaptations. It’s a big-budget, big-name Disney extravaganza, and for Mackey, who turns 25 on Monday, it marks a first dip into blockbuster waters.

20th Century Fox has set a summer 2019 release date for its upcoming James Mangold-directed biopic about the 1966 Le Mans race, set to star Matt Damon and Christian Bale. The still-untitled project will hit theaters June 28, 2019.

Based on a true story, the film tracks a heated rivalry between Ford and Ferrari culminating in the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, the world’s oldest sports car endurance race. It will focus on the team of American engineers and designers, led by legendary Ford Automotive designer and racing driver Carroll Shelby, and British driver Ken Miles, tasked by Henry Ford II to design a car capable of defeating Ferrari at Le Mans. “Logan” director James Mangold is helming from a script by screenwriters Jez and John-Henry Butterworth (“Edge of Tomorrow”).

The film follows an eccentric, determined team of American engineers and designers, led by automotive visionary Carroll Shelby (Damon) and his British driver, Ken Miles (Bale), who are dispatched by Henry Ford II and Lee Iacocca with the mission of building from scratch an entirely new automobile with the potential to finally defeat the perennially dominant Ferrari at the 1966 Le Mans World Championship in France.

Caitriona Balfe will portray Miles’ wife and Noah Jupe will play their son. Jon Bernthal has been in talks to portray Iacocca. Chernin Entertainment is producing.

Well, the BBC is now developing their own new Agatha Christie project, which will be an adaptation of the 1936 novel The ABC Murders. Today, three movies proved that statement to be true as 20th Century Fox re-assed their upcoming movie release schedule, deciding to push back a few of their biggest films. Specifically, Predator, Alita: Battle Angel, and Death on the Nile.

Shane Black's Predator film is one of the most intriguing films to release in 2018, and just so happens to be the film with the least movement. Instead of releasing on August 3, Fox has circled September 14, 2018 has the new release date for the film starring Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Jacob Tremblay, Yvonne Strahovski, Alfie Allen, and Thomas Jane.

Fox has pushed back “Alita: Battle Angel” from July 20 to Dec. 21, as well as “The Predator” from Aug. 3 to Sept. 14. “The Darkest Minds” will move in to take its place. Additionally, the studio has dated Kenneth Branagh’s “Death on the Nile,” which will now open in wide release on Nov. 8, 2019. “Foster” will open in wide release on March 5, 2021. Fox has scheduled Kenneth Branagh’s Death on the Nile movie adaptation for a theatrical release starting November 8, 2019, while at the same time shifting the release dates back for Shane Black’s sequel/reboot The Predator and Robert Rodriguez’s live-action anime/manga adaptation Alita Battle Angel. The latter two films were previously slated to hit theaters this summer in August and July, respectively, but will now be arriving in mid-September and the middle of December instead.

2017 was a great year for film, and a tremendous one for genre films in particular. As you can probably tell from the composition of our writers' top films of the year list, there was no shortage of interesting, unique or just plain great films tailored to genre fans of all stripes in the last twelve months.

It looks like there's a possibility that the latest big-screen adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express could be the start of an Agatha Christie cinematic universe. I actually thoroughly enjoyed Murder on the Orient Express and I'm looking forward to the sequel based on the novel Death on the Nile.

Director Kenneth Branagh is now saying that these films could very well open the door to the development of a cinematic universe based in the world that Christie has created in her novels. While talking with Associated Press, he talks about the possibility of it, saying:

"I think there are possibilities, aren’t there? With 66 books and short stories and plays, she — and she often brings people together in her own books actually, so innately — she enjoyed that. You feel as though there is a world — just like with Dickens, there’s a complete world that she’s created...

While you were anticipating and then arguing about “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” 20th Century Fox‘s glossy “Murder On The Orient Express” quietly went around the track at the worldwide box office to the tune of $311 million.
