Sunil Dutt directed this film for other producer after Reshma Aur Shera. Artists like Vinod Khanna, Leena Chandavakar and Ranjeet were his discoveries, also cast in this film. After this film he started Rocky to launch his son Sunjay Dutt.

Sunil Dutt was to direct Ajaanta Arts Maseeha in 1990s with Kumar Gaurav, Sanjay Dutt, Amrita Singh and Madhuri Dixit with Laxmikant-Pyarelal as music composers. But Maseeha was shelved. Sunil Dutt was not acting in this 1990s film but in year 1990s several times he wanted to make Maseeha with himself in the lead. Once in 1970s he wanted to make with Mumtaz as his heroine. But Maseeha of Sunil Dutt was never made.
