Perfectly OK

I'm a fan of the rollers so there's no doubt my review will be biased, it's wonderful to see the boys on screen, doing more than just (miming) performances. To hear them talk and get familiar with their voices is definitely a treat. However even with my terrible fan haze, it can be a bit hard to sit through at times. Maybe it's just 70s humor but some scenes got a chuckle out of me while others had me cringing to me gums. Usually I can set aside outdated humor and just think of it as charmingly bad, but parts of it was just so bad that it has completely lost its charm. I can't help but feel bad for the boys, I know the rollers themselves weren't really too keen on doing the show. Though, despite that, I think they did an OK job at performing and entertaining, especially considering none of them are actors. They are funny, charming (sometimes), and even though gone are the cropped trousers and platform boots I so very loved, they are still positively adorable in this.

I love this!

I loved this program. It gave me something to get up on Saturday mornings. I had a crushes on all the BCR's at one time or another. I would love to have the episodes of the Bay City Rollers Show. I have seen some of the Krofft shows on TV Land recently and they just take me back to sitting on the living room floor eating cereal and planning where my next BCR poster would go on my wall!

If anyone knows how to get copies of the show please let me know. I would love for my 11 year old daughter to see these and I'm sure my 2 year old son would enjoy it also. My daughter would more than likely laugh at me for being so corny.

Bottom of the Barrel for Kids Shows and Variety Shows

Bay City Rollers fans were mostly 12 to 14 year old girls. They were big for all of two years before the fad surrounding them died. In the US their heyday was even shorter, under a year. Today no one remembers them except for a single hit, Saturday Night.

Abd watching this, you see why. I struggled to remember a single song 5 minutes after hearing it. There was nothing remotely glam about them except wearing matching outfits.

I struggled to see why they appealed to young girls. Most of them are neither handsome nor cute. That's the power of a publicity machine to sell them as that.

So what was Krofft thinking throwing this show together after the band's popularity dropped? Most of it has xero to do with the band. The segments that are mostly have the band lip syncing to later poorer songs.

For the skits, they can't act and have no comedy skills, no surprise. But they have zero charisma also for a band that once enchanted so many.

If you're a Krofft fan, the Krofft segments might appeal to you. Everyone else will find this dull and former Rollers fans will be disillusioned.

True Fans

Perhaps only the great fans of the Bay City Rollers would love this show and understand the show. I don't think it really mattered much to the fans if they acted great or not. The fact is...the show was great simply because they were IN it!!!Seeing them on TV was the next best thing for me at that time. Of course seeing the show live at the studio would have been the best thing. I've always wondered how I was going to get a hold of these TVshows with them in it. Thanks to IMDb it's now possible. So,for me, I LOVED IT and would definitely TREASURE it!!! It's the BAY CITY ROLLERS, the most gorgeous, talented and most adored Band in the 70's even now. It's Rollermania....no other explanations needed!!!
