I assume you are referring to this movie and not the historical event.
At the end of this movie, you see the military cargo aircraft land in Israel. There are many uniformed and civilian personnel gathered on the airfield to greet them. For the most part, everyone is openly celebrating this great victory. However, civilian dressed men walk up to a few of the greeters and speak quietly with them. As you see their mood change from happy to sad, apparently they have been informed that their friend or relative did not survive.
The final scene shows the Israeli commandos leaving the aircraft away from the jubilant crowds. However, they are not in a joyful mood probably for two reasons. #1) they are both physically and mentally exhausted from the mission, and #2) they are sad over the loss of their mortally wounded commanding officer who died on the return trip.
