Silly and disconcerting medieval parody by the prolific Mariano Ozores with ridiculous and absurd incidents

In 1571, Sacedón del Río is a popular Middle Age town, with its castle under command of Duke of Sacedon : Jose Sazatornil "Saza", its sheriff and its Thursday market in the Plaza Mayor. There arrives a medicine man , Manolo Otero, with his carriage to sell his healing products, strange unguents, remedies for elevating sexual craving and elixirs for eternal youth. As the Duke asks the physicist an ointment to enhance his sexual appetite for his wife, Helga Line. Along the way , lives of the villagers pass peacefully with its nutty messes , problems , adulteries , loves and disappointments.

Routine Mariano Ozores , this time set in the Dark Ages with silly scenes , laughs , nudism, entertainment and amusement . This one belongs to "Medieval sex comedy" genre whose main representation was Pier Paolo Pasolini's Trilogy of Life : Bocaccio's Decameron, 1001 Noches and Godofredo Chaucer's Cuentos Canterbury. This trilogy created a large number of imitations and rip-offs as Italian as Spanish. As in the Seventies in Spain developed this sub-genre with films as "Delicias de los verdes años" directed by Antonio Mercero, Francisco Delicado's "Lozana Andaluza" by Ramon Fernandez, Juan Ruiz Arcipreste de Hita's "Libro del Buen Amor" by Tomas Aznar, "Libro del Buen Amor II" by Jaime Bayarri with Manolo Otero, "Cuando los maridos iban a la guerra" by Ramon Fernandez, "Brujas Magicas" by Mariano Ozores, among others . This Cuentos de Las Sabanas Blancas is a run-of-the-mill Seventies sex comedy that will appeal to Manolo Otero fans . A charming as well as embarrassing comedy that contains crazy events , nudism, funny set pieces and bewilding situations . There are some nice jokes in the film and the cast , playing eccentric characters , make a cosy fit . It is an amusing Spanish comedy that offers no intellectual stimulus whatsoever , though it has some fun and hilarious moments . Humor is sometimes cheesy and gross-out with numerous naughty and picaresque situations . Stars the singer Manolo Otero as an alchemist who delivers unguents, and he sings some catching songs, as well Accompanied by ordinary "destape" actresses showing their nudist qualities , such as : Barbara Rey, Carmen Platero, Africa Pratt, Ursula Grim Grim, Mirta Miller and Helga Line. Support cast is pretty good , plenty of familiar faces , such as : Jose Sazatornil, Tomas Zori, Pedro Osinaga, Luis Lorenzo, Emilio Fornet, Luis Barboo, Victor Israel and, of course, Antonio Ozores.

This ¨Cuentos de las sábanas blancas (1977)¨ is a mediocre picture with some agreeable moments , being profesional but middlingly by Mariano Ozores in his usual style and had big success in the Spanish box office similarly to ¨Brujas Magicas¨ which he made in similar wake . Mariano's family origin is into show business , being son of Mariano Ozores Sr and brother of José Luis Ozores and Antonio Ozores . Furthermore , uncle of Emma Ozores and Adriana Ozores . Mariano is a craftsman filmmaker and writer , in fact he wrote the fun screenplay , he recently won a Goya Award (2016) to his long and fruitful career . The latter made with these two famous comedians , -Fernando Esteso and Andres Pajares- several films , as they had various years partnership between the two leads , such as ¨Agitese Antes Usarla¨ , ¨Al Este Del Oeste¨, ¨Los Liantes¨, ¨Los Energeticos¨, ¨La Lola Lleva Al Huerto¨ , ¨El Currante¨ , ¨El Hijo Del Cura¨...these films are filled with humor that still holds up , especially for those not easily offended ; being sometimes cheesy and gross-out with numerous naughty and picaresque situations such as sex jokes , adulteries , crazy events , nudism , absurd situations , jealousy , and erotic scenes . Plus , they partially reflected the mood and the reality of Spain in the immediate Post-Franco era , dealing with politic juncture about the post-Franquismo in similar style to other films from this period . Ozores has a prolific career , as writer and as director , especially in comedy genre such as : Disparate Nacional , Tahiti's Girl , Brujas Magicas , Los Presuntos , Cuatro Mujeres Y Un Lío , Tío ¿De Verdad Vienen De París? , Alcalde Por Elección , Ellas Los Prefieren... Locas , El Apolítico , Jenaro El De Los 14 , Manolo La Nuit , El Abuelo Tiene plan , La Llamaban La Madrina , La Graduada , Venta Por Pisos and many others . Being his ordinary actors , the followings : Alfredo Landa , Lina Morgan , Paco Martínez Soria , Antonio Ozores , Jose Luis Ozores , Juanito Navarro .
