Brooklyn Nine-Nine is an ensemble show where every character is funny, but Captain Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher) manages to find humor in a serious, stoic character. Holt starts the series as a reserved, unemotional manager, but by the ending of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, he has slowly revealed layers that make the squad and the viewers fall in love with him. Holt has some of the funniest scenes in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but he also is at the center of some of the most emotional beats.
Braughers Captain Holt begins the pilot as the new captain of the 99th precinct. Holt is a dry, deadpan character compared to the rest of the cast of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Holt develops familial bonds with everyone under his command throughout the shows run. As the anniversary of Andre Braughers passing approaches, his role as Captain Holt will always be preserved. Holts typical gravitas makes the moments when...

The Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox is home to a variety of unique horror content, from originals and exclusives to cult classics and documentaries. With such a rapidly-growing library, there are many hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Here are five recommendations you can stream on Screambox right now.
The Collector
If the triumphant return of the Saw franchise has you in the mood for more trap-laden horrors, look no further than The Collector — which was originally conceived as a prequel to Saw that would show Jigsaw’s original story. When producers passed on the idea, writers Patrick Melton & Marcus Dunstan (Saw IV-vii) reworked it into an original script, which Dunstan directed in 2009.
A slasher/home invasion hybrid for the so-called “torture porn” era, The Collector stars Criminal Minds‘ Josh Stewart as struggling ex-con Arkin. A planned heist at his new employer’s home to repay a debt becomes deadly when he...

After The Loneliest Time comes The Loveliest Time. On Thursday, Carly Rae Jepsen announced plans to drop her new album, The Loveliest Time — a followup to her album released last year.
“After a season of hibernation comes the season of blossoming,” she wrote on Twitter. “I got to know loneliness and discover the beauty in it. The loneliest time taught me that growth comes from being planted in darkness. But now the world has opened itself back up again and in turn so have we.”

Carly Rae Jepsen has dropped “Shy Boy,” her first bit of new music since last year’s album The Loneliest Time. Listen to it below.
A funky, romantic tune, “Shy Boy” places Jepsen’s playful vocals in between layers of wah-wah-clad chordal hits, synth melodies, and a bubbling bass line. Even though at first glance the idea for the song — an ode to shy boys — might sound more like fodder for a Lonely Island bit than a hit-the-dance-floor anthem, Jepsen’s knack for irresistibly catchy hooks comes through, and the chorus has that sing-along magic you’d hope for.
The track was produced by James Ford, who’s known for his work with Gorillaz, Arctic Monkeys, Florence + The Machine, and others. It arrived alongside a black-and-white visualizer, featuring a date night with Jepsen and her titular crush. Watch it below.

In a 2021 interview with The New York Times, Jodie Foster, one of our most guarded movie stars, confessed, "I am a solitary, internal person in an extroverted, external job. I don't think I will ever not feel lonely. It's a theme in my life. It's not such a bad thing. I don't need to be known by everyone."
Movie stardom can be a curse in this regard. Each performance, splashed across a big screen and examined time and again in the home-viewing format of your choosing, draws us near to them. We want to know them, befriend them, tear up the town with them... we want them. And since we are typically not an empathetic species (particularly in the United States), too many of us do not understand why these seemingly blessed individuals recoil from the public eye or feel ambivalent about their success.

Italian screenwriter, novelist and poet who formed a successful partnership with the film director Roberto Benigni
Although he was a respected novelist and poet, Vincenzo Cerami, who has died aged 72 after a long illness, was perhaps best known as a screenwriter, thanks to his long partnership with the director Roberto Benigni. The pair co-wrote six films and had their greatest success with La Vita è Bella (Life Is Beautiful, 1997), which starred Benigni as a Jewish internee in a concentration camp, desperately pretending to his young son that it is all a game. The film won three Oscars and had a further four nominations, including for best screenplay. "Knowing Vincenzo was a gift," said Benigni, "because he taught people's hearts to beat."
On their early films together, Cerami was not able to totally sublimate Benigni's excesses as an actor. Nevertheless, Il Piccolo Diavolo (The Little Devil, 1988), Johnny Stecchino (1991) and Il Mostro (The Monster,...
