Sideral Acquires Graphic Novel-Based Feature ‘The Van’ for Global Distribution (Exclusive)
Image
Sideral has officially acquired the distribution rights for Eloy Calvo’s buzzy Spanish mixed-media feature “The Van” (“La Furgo”). The film will premiere at the Bcn Film Festival on April 26, with a theatrical release in Spain set for June 20.

Produced by Teidees, traditionally an animation outfit, led by Marta Alonso and Sílvia Cortés, “The Van” is backed by Rtve, 3Cat and supported by the Institut Català de les Empreses Culturals (Icec) and Crea Sgr. The film is based on the comic book of the same name by Martin Tognola and Ramón Pardina.

Calvo compared Sideral’s involvement with the film to starting an engine: “Their endorsement is the fuel we needed to hit the road, to take our story out into the world. We hope that ‘The Van’ connects with the viewers and leaves them with a good memory.”

“The Van” follows Oso, played by Catalan Academy Gaudi Award-winning actor Pol López,...

Image
Catalan films have impressed at festivals and awards ceremonies around the world for years now as the region continues to punch far above its weight in the screen industries. As the fall festival season transitions into awards season, we wanted to take a look at the buzziest Catalan titles set to make their debut sometime next year.

Carla Simon, among the most exciting young filmmakers working in Europe today, will return with her fourth feature, “Romeria,” which is shooting now. The film tells the story of Marina, who travels to Vigo in the northwest of Spain to meet her biological father’s family after he dies of AIDS. The film is particularly close to Simon, who lost her parents to the disease when she was only six years old.

Endeavour Cast Guide - Who's In Season 7
Image
The cast of Endeavour Season 7 delivers exceptional performances, making the series particularly gripping. Shaun Evans shines as the young Endeavour Morse, showcasing his talent as both an actor and director. Roger Allam impresses as the mentor figure Fred Thursday, while Anton Lesser captivates as Reginald Bright, adding depth to the show's ensemble cast.

When it first premiered back in 2020, the Endeavour cast of season 7 saw a talented group of actors come together and give a series of excellent performances. A prequel to the Inspector Morse series, Endeavour tells the story of a young Endeavour Morse (Shaun Evans) who drops out of Oxford University to pursue his goal of becoming a detective for the Oxford City Police. Image
Stars: Brion James, Richard Crystal, Zalman King, Robert Walden, Mark Goddard, Charles Siebert, Stefan Gierasch, Alice Ghostley, Ray Young, Bill Adler | Written and Directed by Jeff Lieberman

Showing as part of this year’s Fantasia Midnights program, Synapse Films premiered their restoration of writer/director Jeff Lieberman’s cult favorite Blue Sunshine. The 1977 film about former hippies suffering from homicidal acid flashbacks will be getting a 4K release at an undisclosed future date, and the image quality is noticeably better than on my DVD. But, what about the actual film? Glad you asked…

Blue Sunshine begins at a party where one of the guests is doing an impersonation of Rodan. “The artist?” asks one of the guests. “No, the monster” But a real monster is about to show up as Frannie loses his wig and his mind and begins shoving guests into the fireplace.

Jerry narrowly avoids becoming his next...
