Australia’s Imprint Films will release Shaw-Shock: Shaw Brothers Horror Collection Volume One on May 28.
The Blu-ray box set includes three of the influential Hong Kong studio’s genre films: The Oily Maniac, Seeding of a Ghost, and Sex Beyond the Grave.
1976’s The Oily Maniac (0riginal title: You gui zi) is directed by Ho Meng-hua, written by Chua Lam, and stars Danny Lee, Chen Ping, Hua Lun, and Hsieh Wang.
Legal assistant Shen Yuan follows the directions of an ancient spell, hoping to defend his lifelong love, Yue Yang-Ba. He digs a hole, climbs into the thick black liquid he uncovers, and quickly transforms into an oily monster, taking down criminals and leaving behind a trail of destruction.

If you are into martial arts films, especially those produced by Shaw Brothers Studios in the late 70s, the Flying Guillotine would probably be your favorite weapon from the Qing Dynasty. It looks very much like a hat with a netting full of razor sharp blades in the rim and there is a long chain attached to it. The skillful wielder or assassin throws it from a distance onto someone's head and with a pull of the chain, the blades circle in and cut the poor victim's head clean off. It is a very effective way to kill and besides it is quiet and almost impossible to defend against.
Though associated with Emperor Yung Cheng and his elite squad of assassins during the Qing Dynasty, no one really knows if such a device actually existed. But this deadly legendary Chinese killing machine sure looks great flying across the silver screens...

On top of that, they have an End of Line DVD and blu-ray sale, where once stock goes, they’re gone for good!
There are a lot of releases, new and old, planned for 2020 that the dedicated audience will enjoy watching as much as the stuff at Terracotta have in sourcing.
