Jaroslaw Dabrowski

I watched "Jaroslaw Dabrowski" with interest. I have never been a socialist, but we must have an objective and balanced view of history. We cannot, after all, erase from our memory people who had leftist views for a significant period of their lives, such as Romain Rolland, Anatole France, Theodore Dreiser, Jean Paul Sartre, or even George Orwell. The film, made with an international cast, attempted to bring the figure of a revolutionary, the leader of the Paris Commune, closer to contemporary generations. The action of this "epic song" covers the years 1862-1871, from the moment when Dabrowski, as an adjutant of General Bebutov, arrived in Warsaw and worked in the secret national committee preparing the January Uprising of 1863, through imprisonment and exile, to his death on the Paris barricade, when he was the commander-in-chief of the Commune troops. I am not the expert on history, but it looked to me that "Jaroslaw Dabrowski" described only true events. The acting and the music were good. To me the pathos was at some moments overdone, but some viewers may like it. The film is definitely not for everyone, but some people who are interested in this period of history may like it.
