At one point, BioWare was hailed as the king of the gaming industry. Seriously, the studio’s legendary single-player and RPG games brought an element of uniqueness and innovation that no one in their wildest dreams could’ve ever expected.
BioWare was considered to be a reputable gaming studio. (Image via EA)
However, BioWare has been in a rough spot in recent years. The studio’s recent titles, such as Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem, have proven to be massive failures.
Why isn’t BioWare making good games anymore? Well, it’s due to the fact that the studio’s developers are burnt out due to horrific working conditions. Things got so bad at one point that developers hoped to see Dragon Age: Inquisition fail so things could change.

Potential spoilers follow.
The timeline of the new TV movie "Star Trek: Section 31" is a little difficult to place in the chronology of "Star Trek," as it involves interdimensional shifts and a passage through the living time portal the Guardian of Forever. There is, however, one common character between "Section 31" and the extant "Star Trek" universe at large that can give us a vital clue. The one character in question, as far as we know, has no access to time travel equipment and doesn't often go skipping between parallel universe, so we can happily use her as a bedrock.
To offer a brief recap before we get into the nitty-gritty: Section 31 is the black-ops arm of Starfleet, an organization first introduced in the "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" episode "Inquisition". While Starfleet was typically devoted to missions of exploration, research, and diplomacy, there was a super-secret arm of the...

Many “Star Trek” fans were more than a little skeptical of the announcement of a new television film in the franchise focused on Section 31. For those unfamiliar with the intricacies of “Trek” lore, Section 31 is a covert black ops department within the United Federation of Planets (which includes Earth), dedicated to eliminating threats to the integrity and even the supremacy of the Federation using any means necessary. Since Section 31’s introduction in the “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” episode “Inquisition,” fans have been conflicted about the inclusion of a morally ambivalent —sometimes outright fascist — group that is allowed to operate, albeit in secret, within the utopian-leaning Federation. Many felt that Section 31 was a betrayal of the ideals held up in the series as inherent to Federation culture and Starfleet operations, although they were comforted by the fact that Section 31 often acted as an antagonist in its various iterations in the franchise.

Not long after the release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, game director Corrine Busche is leaving her position at BioWare to work on a currently unknown project. Released on October 31, 2024, Veilguard is the latest installment in the Dragon Age franchise, and despite garnering a largely positive critical reception, the game has proven controversial among fans of the series for the quality of its writing, its turn to action-based combat, and some contradictions to previous Dragon Age games.
As reported by Jeff Grubb on X, and confirmed by Eurogamer, Dragon Age: The Veilguard's game director, Corrine Busche, is leaving BioWare and EA only a few months after the game's release, citing "an opportunity I couldn't turn down" to Eurogamer as the reason for her departure. Aside from another comment saying the project will be "in the Crpg space", Busche has otherwise not commented further on her future work, and, according to Eurogamer,...

While Dragon Age: The Veilguard introduces lots of great new characters to Thedas, there are also plenty of well-loved characters who return for the series' fourth installment. The first member of Rook's team, met during the game's introduction sequence, is Lace Harding, who previously appeared in Dragon Age: Inquisition as a scout for the organization. Harding has a fantastic personal quest in The Veilguard, which delves deep into dwarven lore and the idea of forgiveness and compassion.

Like all previous entries in the series before it, on top of saving the world, Dragon Age: The Veilguard allows time for a little romance, with all seven companions available for Rook. However, just like all previous entries in the series, that is not enough for some as plenty of other characters have also caught the fanbase's eye. And while some of these are somewhat obvious choices, there are others that are a little more... niche.

Romance with non-companion characters in Dragon Age games isn't a new idea, with Inquisition offering romances with Cullen and Josephine, and both Dragon Age 2 and Origins allowed for a fair amount of flirting with NPCs. Video game trilogies like those from Mass Effect and Dragon Age give players a special reason to replay the games, going beyond just enjoying each one separately. The story builds on what was established in the first game, leading to a greater appreciation when playing the whole series again. Players can see how characters, gameplay mechanics, and design choices change throughout the trilogy, recognizing the developers' thoughtful decisions. Plus, when all three games are finished, players often feel a stronger emotional connection than just one game.
Playing through a longer story helps players connect better with the characters and feel the impact of their choices. Being familiar with the game lets players immerse themselves easily, allowing them to catch details they might have missed at first. This can be the world’s background, character interactions, or gameplay features. Returning to certain trilogies is a great idea, especially if it's been a while.

Diving back into the world of Thedas with Dragon Age: The Veilguard, many long-time fans will have had their Rooks carefully planned out in advance. Despite receiving some mixed reviews, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a truly impressive RPG with lots to explore. BioWare does justice to the beloved Dragon Age franchise with a fantastic battle system, stunning environments, and a polished, distinct style. With so much content available to players, those in their first or second playthroughs may not think that much more would need to be added to the game for the perfect experience.
The game has several options to make every playthrough unique, with three different classes with three more individual specializations, four lineages, and seven romanceable companions. With this being said, it would be expected that romance would be one of the game's biggest strengths games like Baldur's Gate 3 have achieved massive success with a wide array of player customization and romance options. However, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is missing something that may actually make romance one of its biggest weaknesses.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard launched to a plethora of positive reviews, something that was likely unexpected for Bioware skeptics. The developer has been in hot water since the release of Anthem, with many fans feeling it had lost its magic. Luckily, The Veilguard proved them wrong and served as proof that Bioware is back, and hopefully for good. However, what may have shocked some players is that Bioware is already done with The Veilguard, and intends to move on from it as quickly as possible.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard will not be receiving any Dlc at all, something that will be disappointing to those already burned by the game's controversial New Game Plus decision. Dragon Age: The Veilguard got a little bit of negative press when it was first announced thanks to its new art direction. Whereas the previous games have all been fairly dark and gritty - with each entry getting progressively less gritty - The Veilguard feels more akin to a Disney movie, with every character having smooth-as-butter skin and cartoonish faces. Naturally, those who were expecting something like the original games were a little disappointed and began stating their opinion loudly online.
Naturally, The Veilguard's best features have been highly praised in reviews, but those visuals, even post-launch, continue to get negatively remarked upon. However, Dragon Age: The Veilguard's visuals do not deserve all the hate. Dragon Age: The Veilguard has finally been released as of October 31, 2024, and it has garnered positive reception for its beautiful and engaging story. Dragon Age has long been a beloved RPG series, but Veilguard marks a triumphant return after the RPGs' dormancy following the release of Inquisition in 2014. This installment has proven to be successful, and there is a lot to love about this game, ranging from the romances and exploration to the combat and the companions.
In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, new and returning players can expect an engaging story with a compelling cast of characters. Ranging from human to elven characters and mages to detectives, The Veilguard offers a lot more representation than in previous installments, making it unique and special in its own way. With this wider cast of characters comes a lot more fiery personality, helping to find representatives among The Veilguard characters for all 12 zodiac signs.

Changing up Rooks look is now easier for players to do than ever before in Dragon Age. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the newest entry in a series that has been dormant for ten years, but that long hibernation has brought plenty of great changes. Like past games, and other fantasy RPGs, players can create their own custom character to play as. However, unlike past games, The Veilguard allows players to change their appearance after theyve already started the game.
If players in Dragon Age: The Veilguard feel after a while that they no longer want to look as silly or serious as they did in the beginning of the game, they now have the option to modify themselves at any time. This is definitely a welcome change when compared to prior games either only adding the option in Dlc or not having it available at all.

Since her first introduction in Dragon Age: Origins, players have very much fallen in love with the sorceress Morrigan, and now she makes a return in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. As a shape-shifting Witch of the Wilds, her story is one of the most gripping of the many companions in the franchise. With her strong personality and striking backstory, there's so much to adore about this character and her continued development.
Appearing in Origins, Inquisition and now the engaging Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Morrigan's continued presence has been a frequent talking point for fans. As her story continues to develop throughout the games, many yearn to romance her to get that little bit closer. While first romanceable in the original Dragon Age: Origins experience, Morrigan's reappearance in Inquisition did not allow players the opportunity, and now with her showing up in The Veilguard, many are hoping for the opportunity once again.

The latest installment of Dragon Age has finally hit the store shelves and the gaming community is eager to see what Bioware has been working on for the past decade. While there is no definite answer to how long the campaign is, it greatly depends on how a player navigates the world of Thedas.
Players can spend hours accomplishing different side content or shift their focus towards the main campaign. The amount of content the game developers added to the sequel will convince returning players to explore new areas and live in the moment rather than rushing through the story.

After a ten-year wait, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is finally here, and new and returning players alike will need to dust off their Dragon Age muscles to get back into the swing of things. If you, like myself, are completely new to the Da franchise, you might actually have an advantage. A lot has changed since Inquisition, so there are no habits for you to unlearn.
Overall, Veilguard takes a much more action-packed approach to combat. You're now in command of your party members through an FF7 Remake-style action menu, and your party members now take no damage. This is nice, as it means you're only worrying about Rook, but it also means your Rook's Hp is much more precious than before, despite the fact that it can be increased. Here are a few things to keep in mind as you jump into the latest Dragon Age.

BioWare's latest release, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, is the long-anticipated return to the land of Thedas that countless people have waited a decade for. As a direct sequel to the well-received Dragon Age: Inquisition, fans are eagerly awaiting what has become of the various companions and other side characters they've grown so attached to. However, it appears that not all of them are on the side of good this time around.
Among all the various companions from Inquisition, the return of Solas has caught many people's attention. Dragon Age: The Veilguard's launch trailer shows him fighting against his old companions, rather than alongside them, bringing many dangerous monsters into the physical world. For many long-time fans, this comes as a shock, while any newcomers to the franchise who haven't played previous Dragon Age games before Veilguard might feel curious as to who exactly this elven mage is.

One of the things that makes a game like Dragon Age: The Veilguard be a memorable adventure is the emotional connection and immersive qualities that can come from deep character story arcs and relationships with those characters. Building relationships, whether friendship or romance, with party companions and strengthening alliances within various factions has been an important part of all entries in the Dragon Age series since the beginning. This allows it to truly lean into the roleplaying portion of the RPG and gives more weight and emphasis to the choices that players make while they are interacting with these NPCs.

At first glance, the map in Dragon Age: The Veilguard feels fairly small, until one sees that each location on that map opens up to another map in a bit of a nesting doll fashion, with different areas to unlock for each region. Playing the game feels as though the world is a natural and comfortable size, with many nooks and crannies to explore and quests to complete. While it may not be as massive of an overworld as Inquisition had, it can still feel larger than older Dragon Age titles, and its attention to detail feels impressive.

Thedas, the setting of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, is vast and complicated. Although players don't necessarily have to play the first three Dragon Age games before Veilguard, they may be missing out on a lot of context if they don't. There are a wide variety of characters, historical events, and factions they may need to be familiar with throughout, and although Da's in-game Codices (compendiums of lore players can collect as they progress through the game) do their best to explain what's relevant, players may still be left in the dark on crucial details.
Even those who have played Dragon Age games before may have already put some distance between them: it's been ten years since Inquisition, the last mainline entry, was released. BioWare has one of the most enduring legacies in video games, crafting some of the most influential RPGs of all time — from Baldur’s Gate (1998) to Mass Effect (2007). But somewhere over the years, the developer lost its way.
The extremely negative reception to their most recent games, Mass Effect: Andromeda (2017) and Anthem (2019), tarnished the developer that was once seen as one of the most beloved in the industry. That legacy has raised some important questions about the future of BioWare, and Dragon Age: The Veilguard (out Oct. 31) feels like the...

Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh's upcoming Star Trek movie, Star Trek: Section 31, shows a version of Starfleet's covert ops division that's completely different from the Section 31 that was first introduced in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Streaming on Paramount+ January 24, 2025, Star Trek: Section 31 features Yeoh returning as Star Trek: Discovery's Emperor Philippa Georgiou. In the made-for-streaming film, a first for Star Trek, Georgiou joins Section 31's cast of brand-new Star Trek characters in an operation that takes place during Star Trek's Lost Era between Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Of all the factions that can or will appear in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, one controversial faction being around is for the best. Veilguard continues the Dragon Age franchise by putting the player, codenamed Rook, into a war between ancient deities vying for control of the realm. Dragon Age: The Veilguard's new combat seems to be pushing the franchise in a new direction. Aspects of Inquisition remain while continuing to adjust to a more modern gaming ecosystem.
As with every Dragon Age game, the player will be joined by numerous companions throughout the story. There are currently seven known companions across the Rogue, Mage and Warrior classes. Even though only seven are confirmed for now, there are chances other companions, though likely in smaller roles, will pop up in the campaign.

Ahead of Dragon Age: The Veilguard's release on October 31, several new previews have given an in-depth look at the game's new combat systems and mechanics. The fourth game in the Dragon Age series, Veilguard has gone through extended development times since 2018. Regardless of the long wait, however, general impressions from early previews of the game and its combat have been largely positive.
Over the course of three games, the combat of Dragon Age has steadily moved away from tactical RPG gameplay using a "real-time with pause" system, similar to the classic Baldur's Gate entries also developed by BioWare. While both Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition retained some tactical elements, like the ability to switch between characters, the combat of both games took a much more action-oriented approach. Now, as gameplay previews for Veilguard show its combat in-depth, it looks like the game emphasizes action even more than its predecessors.

RPGs have always been a fan favorite, and they have a special way of drawing players in. Players invest hours upon hours into exploring these worlds, meeting memorable characters, and making roleplaying decisions and choices.
A lot of these games tell stories that stick with you long after they’re over. Some RPGs do stand out for their sheer addictiveness, keeping players hooked with their depth, atmosphere, and compelling gameplay. In no particular order, here are nine such addictive RPGs.

After years and years of waiting, the new Dragon Age game is finally at a stage where we’ve got a release date to mark on our calendars. The Veilguard will be arriving on 31 October 2024, as announced in the release date trailer that dropped earlier this week.
That’s not the only bombshell that dropped in the trailer, though. Everyone’s favorite witch made a shocking return, which surprised everyone seeing as how the voice actress herself confirmed she wouldn’t be in the game. That’s right, Morrigan is back!
The Witch of the Wilds Will Return in the New Dragon Age
Voiced by the talented Claudia Black, Morrigan’s surprise appearance in the trailer left fans shocked and ecstatic.
People normally wouldn’t be shocked seeing how she also appeared in Inquisition, but Black mentioned in 2022 that she believed her character wouldn’t be part of the new game.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard set for a October 31, 2024, release, focusing on Minrathous and a new playable character, "Rook". Gameplay in The Veilguard resembles Mass Effect with a smaller party size and emphasis on action combat. Solas serves as the main antagonist in The Veilguard, with returning and new characters featuring as companions.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard marks a notable departure from the open-world design that was in its predecessor, Inquisition. While the open-world in Inquisition initially impressed players with its vast landscapes, with plenty of variety in biomes, and overall freedom, it quickly became a point of criticism.
Many players felt the experience was bogged down by repetitive tasks and an overwhelming amount of fetch quests, often likened to the grind-heavy activities seen in MMORPGs.

After 10 long years, BioWare’s Dragon Age series is all set to move forward with Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The last game in the franchise, Dragon Age: Inquisition, won several awards and was, undoubtedly, one of the best games of 2014.
While most elements of Dragon Age: Inquisition were praised, some gamers complained about the cities in the game. This time, BioWare has specifically focused on this but it was not the fans’ feedback that motivated the studios to take this step, it was one line of dialogue from Inquisition.

It’s been nearly a decade since gamers last delved into the world of Dragon Age with 2014’s Inquisition. As anticipation builds for the next installment in BioWare’s acclaimed franchise, fans have clung to any morsel of news surrounding Dragon Age: The Veilguard. At San Diego Comic-Con last month, the developer teased significant updates would arrive in August. Now, an announcement from publisher Electronic Arts has narrowed the potential launch window, though a specific release date remains under wraps.
In a recent financial report, EA revealed The Veilguard is targeting their third quarter of Fiscal Year 2025, spanning October 1 through December 31, 2024. While this new window provides the most precise timeframe to date, the lack of a specific date leaves the future of Ferelden hanging in the balance. Some fans speculate a November debut could honor Inquisition’s 10th anniversary. BioWare has promised their upcoming August roadmap will furnish more concrete launch plans.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the latest entry in a beloved RPG series, however, not all fans are happy with a few design choices in the game. The game is set to release sometime this fall.
One major enemy type, the ogre, is getting a lot of negative attention. Fans are saying it looks much worse than before and rather cartoony. They want a redesign, like how Sonic the Hedgehog got one for its movie after massive fan backlash.
The Ogre’s Look in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
A Reddit user voiced their frustration, pointing out how the ogre’s new design looks far worse than its predecessors from over a decade ago. They were puzzled by the lack of discussion on the subreddit and urged fellow fans to demand a redesign, similar to the successful fan-led campaign that led to a redesign of Sonic for the movie.

In the recently concluded Xbox Games Showcase, Bioware revealed the next game in the Dragon Age franchise, which is Dragon Age: The Veilguard. This is going to be the fourth main entry in the fantasy action RPG series and a direct sequel to Dragon Age: Inquisition.
The game is expected to be released in the fall of 2024, as no official release date has been confirmed yet. As the days pass, more updates have been revealed by the company. But there is one news which have surely made fans disappointed.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard Won’t Feature One of the Best Characters of the Franchise

Bioware has confirmed that the upcoming Dragon Age game won’t feature Hawke, who was the main playable character in Dragon Age 2 and also an influential aspect of Inquisition as well. In the Games Showcase,...

Playing Dragon Age games in order is essential for a more immersive experience and deeper connection to the world and characters. Dragon Age: Inquisition offers polished gameplay and integrates player choices from previous games, enhancing the overall narrative. Dragon Age: The Veilguard will continue the tradition of incorporating player choices, emphasizing the importance of playing the series in order.
With the recent trailer for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, new players may be looking to go back and experience the rest of the Dragon Age, though they might not be sure where to start. Except for Dragon Age II, none of the previous games have a number associated with their title. There are also some game series where playing out of order doesnt matter all that much. For example, many players likely jumped into Baldurs Gate 3 without playing the previous installments, and they wouldnt have missed much if they did.

After a long wait, Dragon Age fans are finally getting the next title, The Veilguard, in Fall 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. The last mainline game in the franchise, Inquisition, was released in 2014, and fans are now excited about the upcoming title.
However, The Veilguard will not be launching in one region, and the reason behind this stated by Electronic Arts is really baffling, as several other games, such as Baldur’s Gate 3, have been released despite having those things.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard might not be released in India.
The Veilguard does not have a launch date yet, but it will be announced soon and will probably be released around October or November, like the last game. The story of the game follows the events of Inquisition and its DLCs. The gameplay trailer shared by EA and Bioware has fans hyped.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard offers a familiar high fantasy experience with iconic characters and storylines, but it might be too rote. Character customization in Veilguard appears deep and impactful, with improved options for player representation, but aesthetic is off-putting. The combat in Veilguard combines tactical strategy with fluid action, reminiscent of Dragon Age 2's successful system.

Original Sepultura members Max and Iggor Cavalera have announced a re-recording of the legendary thrash band’s Schizophrenia, out June 21st via Nuclear Blast Records.
It marks the third re-recorded Sepultura album from the Cavalera brothers following new versions of their earliest works Morbid Visions and Bestial Devastation. They appear to be going through the discography in chronological order, with Schizophrenia being Sepultura’s vaunted third album from 1987.
Cavalera shared the re-recorded take of “Escape to the Void” as the lead single for the release. The killer riffs and energy of the original remain intact, while the modern recording and production offers a better glimpse at the technicality under the hood. The original Schizophrenia is a beloved album, though its production left something to be desired. That’s where these re-recordings excel — revisionist in a good way.

In 1966, Gene Roddenberry and his co-creators gave the world Star Trek, an adventure series that imagined humanity overcoming its racist and sexist and class divisions, which inaugurated a new age of exploration. Corny? Sure. Imperfect? Of course. But that fundamental optimism remains a key aspect of Star Trek, presenting a challenge to those future creators tasked with keeping the franchise alive beyond the years of its birth.
That doesn’t mean the optimism can’t be challenged or re-contextualized. Indeed, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine did exactly that, and many put that series at the top of their franchise rankings. But Deep Space Nine also introduced Section 31, a black ops organization within Starfleet and the darkest alternative to Star Trek optimism this side of the Terran Empire.

But Deep Space Nine also introduced Section 31, a black ops organization within Starfleet and the darkest alternative to Star Trek optimism this side of the Terran Empire.

Dr. Julian Bashir's involvement in a Section 31 movie could solidify his status as a double agent and continue his mission to dismantle the organization from within. The conflict between Bashir and Georgiou would be a battle of wits, with both characters equally armed and their intelligence playing a key role. While Bashir may not appear in the upcoming Section 31 series, he could potentially return in a 25th-century sequel if the show performs well, offering room for exciting new characters and the restoration of Starfleet Intelligence's integrity.
The legacy Star Trek character that Star Trek: Section 31 needs most is Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's Dr. Julian Bashir (Alexander Siddig). The upcoming made-for-streaming Section 31 movie sparked speculation that Section 31 agents from across time could appear once again in Star Trek, but the cast of Star Trek: Section 31 features Academy Award-winner Michelle Yeoh as Emperor Philippa Georgiou from Star Trek: Discovery,...

Star Trek: Section 31 is a secretive organization within Starfleet that operates autonomously and answers to no one, allowing them to commit reprehensible actions. Section 31 has a long history within the Star Trek universe, existing since the early days of Starfleet and playing a role in events such as the Dominion War and the Federation-Klingon War. The upcoming movie will follow Emperor Philippa Georgiou as she joins Section 31 and confronts her past sins, potentially leading to the downfall of the organization or the erasure of its existence.
As Michelle Yeoh's Star Trek: Section 31 movie enters production, it's worth revisiting everything known about Starfleet's top-secret organization. The Star Trek: Discovery spinoff movie will see Emperor Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh) join Section 31, presumably after being returned to the 23rd century by the Guardian of Forever (Paul Gilfoyle). Except for Yeoh, Star Trek: Section 31's cast is all new to the franchise,...

Fans are eagerly awaiting the continuation of The Amazing World of Gumball with Season 7, and it appears that a release window was announced.
The last time The Amazing World of Gumball aired a proper episode was on June 24, 2019; the Season 6 finale, "Inquisition," ended on a literal cliffhanger. Thankfully, two years later, a movie for the surrealist cartoon series was announced for HBO Max, along with a series continuation.
Unfortunately, due to Discovery's acquisition of Warner Bros, several animated projects were axed, shelved, or sold, with The Amazing World of Gumball movie being one. However, despite the movie being put on the shelf, the development of Season 7 of the cartoon show seemingly continued strong.

Section 31's crimes include attempted genocide, creating a dangerous A.I., and interfering in non-Federation species' politics, going against Starfleet's ideals. Dr. Julian Bashir was manipulated and framed by Section 31, showing their ruthless tactics and disregard for innocent lives. Section 31's extreme attempt to commit genocide against the Dominion Founders goes against everything Starfleet stands for, leading to their rogue status in the fringes of Federation space.
The terrible war crimes committed by Section 31 continue to come to light decades after Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's Dominion War ended. Believed to have been in existence since the foundation of Starfleet, the secretive organization is committed to protecting Federation interests, whatever the cost. Section 31 appear to experience peaks and troughs in their popularity with Starfleet Command, with their existence being widely known about in Star Trek: Discovery season 2, whereas a century later, they were a complete mystery to Dr. Julian Bashir...
