L'homme coriace (1976)

Goofs

L'homme coriace

Edit

Continuity

Dolemite gets into Bo's car naked with his hat and clothes in his hands. The next shot shows him almost completely dressed, even though the car is still close enough to the house to be hit by gunfire from the sheriff's men, so only a few seconds could have elapsed; it's seriously doubtful that he could have gotten dressed this quickly while sharing the backseat with another passenger.
Sheriff Beatty crumples over after being kneed in the groin by a female guest at Dolemite's house party; Charlie then uses his shotgun to knock the woman through the doorway to Dolemite's bedroom, and Sheriff Beatty crawls through the doorway with blood all over one side of his face. However, nobody struck the sheriff in the head, the woman was clearly knocked away from him, and there has not yet been any gunfire, so there is no apparent explanation for the blood.
Dolemite's hat stays on his head as he rolls down the hillside, but when he runs to Bo's car in the next shot, he's holding the hat in his hand.
During the opening sequence, Dolemite's outfit changes several times as the camera angle changes. This discontinuity occurred because the footage was apparently culled from different performances of Rudy Ray Moore's live stage show.
Before Dolemite leaps off the balcony to escape, he is wearing underpants. But when he enters the car, he is fully naked.

Revealing mistakes

Obvious lip-syncing by the male funk singer in the orange bell-bottomed jumpsuit; he repeatedly moves the mic away from his face without affecting the audio. In reality, if a singer fails to hold a stage mic at a uniform distance from his or her face, the audio volume and quality will waver drastically.
Some shots of the car chase reveal a black patch on the right side of the camera lens.
The driving scenes are obviously sped up.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

As the nightclub announcer introduces Patti Williams and she walks to the stage, we hear her backing band start to play, but the drummer on stage clearly isn't playing.
When Dolemite exits a shoe shop in new shoes, he brags about them but his lips never move.

Crew or equipment visible

As Dolemite and his group drive on the road, a car is reflected on the automobile filming them.
Camera shadow visible on the ground as Dolemite pulls up in his black car, during the opening credits.

Errors in geography

About 15 minutes or so into the film, as Dolemite is being chased by an Alabama county Sheriff (because he got caught in bed with said Sheriff's wife), you can see the Hollywood sign as they drive through the upper roads of Griffith Park... and then they talk about how they have to get moving out to California.
