It is 2023, and streaming services are constantly in our faces and on our TVs and devices. Whether it be Max (or The Artist Formerly Known As HBO Max), Apple TV+, Disney+, Paramount+, or old stalwarts like Netflix, Hulu, and Prime Video, it seems like we have unlimited options for content.
But even with genre-specific services like Shudder and Screambox, free-services full of movies like Tubi, or deep cut catalogs like The Criterion Channel or Arrow Player, there are still many movies which are not currently available on any service, so we have to call physical media in for the rescue.
Here are 5 excellent horror movies that are not available to stream, rent, or buy on any digital service, but do have excellent physical media Blu-ray and 4K Uhd releases.

Richard Loncraine’s The Haunting of Julia is something of a film maudit. Adapted from Peter Straub’s first horror novel, the film was shot around London in late 1976 under the title Full Circle (as its title card still reads), then made the festival rounds throughout 1977, before barely being released in England in 1978. It belatedly turned up in the U.S. three years later, boasting the more genre-friendly title The Haunting of Julia but still failed to find much of an audience. A lot of this has to do with some significant stylistic differences between Loncraine’s film and the wave of slasher movies that dominated the horror market at the time: Above all, its unhurried pace and relatively restrained depiction of violence stand in stark contrast to the slasher’s relentless plotting and unfettered brutality.

With a long and successful career spanning genres, Mia Farrow may not be considered a horror icon, but she’s certainly deserving of the title in terms of quality over quantity. The two genre efforts in which she starred are exemplary horror movies of their respective eras; while Rosemary’s Baby has been widely lauded since its release in 1968 (Roman Polanski’s personal life controversies notwithstanding), The Haunting of Julia – known internationally as Full Circle – is a hidden gem ripe for rediscovery.
Based on Peter Straub’s 1975 novel Julia, the 1977 British film is directed by Richard Loncraine and written by Dave Humphries (Quadrophenia), with Xtro filmmaker Harry Bromley Davenport receiving a “based on an adaptation by” credit. Although ostensibly a haunted house tale, its ambiguity also allows it to be viewed as a dramatic character study. Scream Factory shines a well-needed light on the atmospheric chiller with a new 4K Uhd + Blu-ray edition.

It was announced today that acclaimed horror author Peter Straub passed away, an undeniable creative force who completely changed what was possible in the landscape of dark fantasy and horror fiction. Straub wrote with such beautiful world-building detail and rich prose that he often elevated the simplest concepts into full-fledged epics, which is precisely why the Master of Horror himself, Stephen King, collaborated with him on their collaborative masterpiece, "The Talisman."
While King has been the most adapted author of the modern era, Straub has only had two novels brought to life. In 1977, "The Haunting of Julia" was released inspired by his novel "Julia," but the film that should have had studios vying to gain the rights to any and all of Straub's works came in 1981 when Universal adapted his haunting novel "Ghost Story."
Straub published the novel in 1979, which became a national bestseller and helped cement Straub as one of the horror fiction greats.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched Season 5, Episode 12 of “The Masked Singer,” which aired May 19 on Fox.
In the end, perhaps it was Omarion’s previous career as a professional rollerblader that gave him away. Omarion was the latest celebrity to be revealed on “The Masked Singer,” during Wednesday night’s semifinals episode. (Scroll down to watch his unmasking.)
Omarion was the Yeti, whose skill rollerblading on stage while singing under a heavy costume had impressed the show’s panelists.
“I was able to reveal my hidden talent, which is rollerblading,” the singer told Variety. “A lot of people don’t know, early on before I was a musician, I was a professional rollerblader… I really attribute that aspect in my life to being a fearless kid. I was on the 12 foot halfpipe. So it was really cool to show my music and my hidden talent at the same time.

Last year, I was invited to check out the set of The Possession of Hannah Grace, which will arrive in theaters on November 30th, thanks to Screen Gems and Sony Pictures Entertainment. After an exorcism goes horribly wrong, the body of Hannah Grace is taken to a local morgue, but she doesn't stay dead. Thankfully, we were on set at the perfect time to witness things unravel at the morgue, and I saw firsthand how terrifying and claustrophobic a morgue can be.
Kicking off a series of interviews we conducted on set with a group of journalists, I wanted to share our discussion with producer Sean Robins and writer Brian Sieve, who is no stranger to horror, having been a writer on the Scream and Teen Wolf TV series. Keep an eye out for more interviews with the cast and crew, including Shay Mitchell and Hannah Grace herself, Kirby Johnson.

The Foo Fighters have a confession to make.
The rock band made their debut on James Corden's "Carpool Karaoke" last month, belting out their greatest hits like "Best of You," "Learn to Fly" and "All My Life."
As fun as the segment looked, the bandmates admitted that the actual filming wasn't that joyous.
"By hour three in dude’s car, it got less fun,” guitarist Pat Smear told NMEin an interview released on Friday. "It kinda went on. When we stopped at Guitar Center, that felt like we were done, but it was like, 'This is halfway.'"

Frontman Dave Grohl said that shooting the segment was "a little uncomfortable." While he didn't doubt that Corden was a music fanatic, the Foo Fighters frontman wasn't too keen on singing his own songs in that setting.

Chicago – June is Pride Month, a celebration of Lgbtq liberation, and all other forms of orientation and gender liberation. What began as a gay and trans rights flashpoint on a June night in 1969, during the push back riots at the Stonewall Inn in New York City, has become a month-long commemoration of the evolution in identity rights and freedoms. An event in Chicago associated with Pride Month is the annual “Queer Bits Film Festival” – a short film program at the Pride Arts Center on North Broadway on June 17th, 2017 at 7:30pm – that showcases the best of Queer cinema from around the world. You knew from the get-go that Loretta Lynn wasn’t too keen on her landmark 85th birthday.
“Don’t sing ‘Happy birthday,’ ” the country legend commanded her audience after her first four songs at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on Friday. “This ain’t my birthday…. You know I ain’t but 26!”
Lynn paused, perhaps to reassess reality. “Aw,” she declared, “I could work any 26-year-old girl under the table any time.”
The capacity crowd roared, of course. They’d been invited to this indomitable icon’s birthday concert and were determined to throw her a party whether she wanted one or not.

Sturgill Simpson won best country album at the 59th annual Grammy Award for A Sailor’s Guide to Earth. The award was given out before the televised ceremony aired on CBS.
Simpson first broke out in 2014 with his trippy, psych-country Metamodern Sounds in Country Music. Thematically, his attention was equally widespread: The set ruminated on the origins of the universe, the meaning of life, and how to best endure the gloom and doom of the here and now. Last year, with his stunning third LP — his first on a major label and the first he produced on his own — the 37-year-old narrowed his gaze.

Rooted in the recognition of the rich storytelling cultures and inherent sovereignty of Native American nations, Sundance Institute has held a commitment to Native artists since its founding. Mandated by our Founder Robert Redford, the Institute has nurtured and supported Native filmmakers going back to a time when almost none existed. Since then, the Institute has supported three generations of Native filmmakers, creating a global community and providing a space for that community with the Native Program and a gathering place at the Sundance Film Festival. Today, there are more Native filmmakers working than ever before, and the Institute is bringing forward a fourth generation of Native filmmakers and solidifying a pipeline of artists whose voices will have an important impact on American and global cinema and culture.
