HBO Max has debuted the teaser trailer for the Steven Soderbergh limited series ‘Full Circle.’

The six-episode New York City-set crime thriller series which follows an investigation into a botched kidnapping uncovers long-held secrets connecting multiple characters and cultures in the city.

Richard Loncraine’s The Haunting of Julia is something of a film maudit. Adapted from Peter Straub’s first horror novel, the film was shot around London in late 1976 under the title Full Circle (as its title card still reads), then made the festival rounds throughout 1977, before barely being released in England in 1978. It belatedly turned up in the U.S. three years later, boasting the more genre-friendly title The Haunting of Julia but still failed to find much of an audience. A lot of this has to do with some significant stylistic differences between Loncraine’s film and the wave of slasher movies that dominated the horror market at the time: Above all, its unhurried pace and relatively restrained depiction of violence stand in stark contrast to the slasher’s relentless plotting and unfettered brutality.

With a long and successful career spanning genres, Mia Farrow may not be considered a horror icon, but she’s certainly deserving of the title in terms of quality over quantity. The two genre efforts in which she starred are exemplary horror movies of their respective eras; while Rosemary’s Baby has been widely lauded since its release in 1968 (Roman Polanski’s personal life controversies notwithstanding), The Haunting of Julia – known internationally as Full Circle – is a hidden gem ripe for rediscovery.

Based on Peter Straub’s 1975 novel Julia, the 1977 British film is directed by Richard Loncraine and written by Dave Humphries (Quadrophenia), with Xtro filmmaker Harry Bromley Davenport receiving a “based on an adaptation by” credit. Although ostensibly a haunted house tale, its ambiguity also allows it to be viewed as a dramatic character study. Scream Factory shines a well-needed light on the atmospheric chiller with a new 4K Uhd + Blu-ray edition.

With April 2023 upon us, we’re highlighting a handful of key releases coming to Blu-ray and 4K Uhd physical media… specifically, releases horror fans may want to get their hands on.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) – Available on 4K Uhd on April 10th

The latest release of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray comes from UK company Second Sight Films on April 10th. The limited edition version of this release features all-new premium packaging with art cards and a 190-page hardcover book. Second Sight has also promised a “new presentation with additional restoration work” above and beyond the previously released 4K discs, so we will have to see what that includes.

Ghosts is doing a second take on the opening of Jay and Sam’s B&b in a newly released extended trailer for Season 2 of the hit CBS comedy.

Airing Thursday, Sept. 29 at 8:30/7:30c, the premiere finds the husband and wife disagreeing over whether to use their ghostly pals to spy on their guests. Elsewhere in the preview, Thor compares Trevor to Odin (“if Odin’s butt check always visible every time he bend over”); Flower reveals that she slept with a very popular band; Hetty has some strong feelings about the washer; and the basement ghosts get a visitor.

The New York-set miniseries is set to debut on HBO Max, and Deadline reports that Quaid is the latest edition to a cast that already includes Zazie Beetz, Claire Danes, and Timothy Olyphant. The miniseries will deal with a botched kidnapping in New York City that soon involves multiple levels of the city's society and uncovers some long-buried secrets. A number of characters are drawn into this web of intrigue, including a US Postal Inspection Service agent (Beetz), a Manhattan attorney who takes over her family business (Danes), and her husband Derek (Olyphant). Details on other characters, including Quaid's, are being kept under wraps.

So far, Steven Soderbergh has made the most of the three-year overall deal he signed with HBO Max in January 2020. He’s already made three films on the deal, “Kimi” with Zoë Kravitz being the latest, and how he has the limited series “Full Circle” on the way, with Zazie Beetz and Claire Danes starring.

Dennis Quaid is the latest to join an A-list cast that’s being assembled for the HBO Max limited series “Full Circle” from Steven Soderbergh and writer Ed Solomon.

He will star alongside previously announced cast members Zazie Beetz, Timothy Olyphant and Claire Danes. As with the others, Quaid’s role in the miniseries has yet to be revealed.

There has been some speculation, however. Danes is believed to be playing a Manhattan attorney, while Beetz is said to be playing a U.S. Postal Inspection Service agent, according to Deadline.

Soderbergh’s relationship with HBO has gone on to include the hit feature No Sudden Move and his latest project, Full Circle which was announced last year, has cast Timothy Olyphant.

Peter Straub, an author of horror and supernatural fiction who had worked with Stephen King, died Sunday at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York City. He was 79.

His wife, Susan Straub, told The New York Times that his death stemmed from complications due to a broken hip. Additionally, his daughter Emma Straub, also a novelist, announced his passing on Twitter in a tribute thread.

Straub is known for penning such work as 1975’s Julia, about a woman who senses she’s being stalked by a supernatural presence while mourning the death of her young daughter, which was adapted into the 1977 film The Haunting of Julia that stars Mia Farrow. He achieved major success with 1979’s Ghost Story, about a group of men who attempt to learn the backstory of the female spirit haunting them; it was adapted into the 1981 film of...

It was announced today that acclaimed horror author Peter Straub passed away, an undeniable creative force who completely changed what was possible in the landscape of dark fantasy and horror fiction. Straub wrote with such beautiful world-building detail and rich prose that he often elevated the simplest concepts into full-fledged epics, which is precisely why the Master of Horror himself, Stephen King, collaborated with him on their collaborative masterpiece, "The Talisman."

While King has been the most adapted author of the modern era, Straub has only had two novels brought to life. In 1977, "The Haunting of Julia" was released inspired by his novel "Julia," but the film that should have had studios vying to gain the rights to any and all of Straub's works came in 1981 when Universal adapted his haunting novel "Ghost Story."

Straub published the novel in 1979, which became a national bestseller and helped cement Straub as one of the horror fiction greats.

Peter Straub, a bestselling novelist who co-authored two beloved books with Stephen King, has died at the age of 79.

Straub’s daughter, Emma Straub, also a novelist, confirmed the news Tuesday on her Instagram account.

According to The New York Times, his wife, Susan Straub, said his death was caused by complications from breaking a hip. He died at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.

Fellow writers and collaborators have been mourning the author’s death on social media, including Neil Gaiman, who was one of the first to express his sadness at Straub’s death.

King, whose latest novel “Fairy Tale” debuts in bookstores Tuesday, wrote: “Working with him was one of the great joys of my creative life.”

Rita Wilson will appear as a helpful Doan’s Crossing storekeeper named Carolyn in an upcoming episode of Paramount+ series “1883,” TheWrap has confirmed.

According to Paramount+, Wilson will make a one-time appearance and help Faith Hill’s character “decompress with some whiskey punch.”

The news comes after Wilson’s husband, Tom Hanks, made a surprise appearance in Episode 2 as Union General George Meade in the series, which stars Hill and Tim McGraw as 19th century Western pioneers Margaret and James Dutton.

“1883” follows the Dutton family as they journey to Montana and establish the ranch that will eventually become the one run by Kevin Costner in “Yellowstone.” Both series were created by “Hell or High Water” Oscar-nominated screenwriter Taylor Sheridan.

The prequel premiered on Paramount+ and Paramount Network on Dec. 19, 2021 to an estimated 4.9 million viewers, making it the most-watched original series debut for the streamer.

Linda Carlson, who starred in the short-lived 1970s TV series Westside Medical and Kaz before becoming a familiar recurring actor on Newhart, Steven Bochco’s Murder One and the television adaptation of Clueless, died Oct. 26 in Gaylordsville, Ct. She was 76.

Her family said the cause of death was Als.

Born in Knoxville, Tn, Carlson moved to New York to attend graduate school at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and soon after began appearing Off Broadway and, in 1973, on Broadway in the Otto Preminger-directed revival of Erich Maria Remarque’s Full Circle.

Carlson made her TV debut in 1977’s Westside Medical, playing Dr. Janet Cottrell for the 13-episode run. The following year she co-starred in the legal drama Kaz, with Ron Leibman playing attorney Martin “Kaz” Kazinsky.

Last year, I was invited to check out the set of The Possession of Hannah Grace, which will arrive in theaters on November 30th, thanks to Screen Gems and Sony Pictures Entertainment. After an exorcism goes horribly wrong, the body of Hannah Grace is taken to a local morgue, but she doesn't stay dead. Thankfully, we were on set at the perfect time to witness things unravel at the morgue, and I saw firsthand how terrifying and claustrophobic a morgue can be.

The Foo Fighters have a confession to make.

The rock band made their debut on James Corden's "Carpool Karaoke" last month, belting out their greatest hits like "Best of You," "Learn to Fly" and "All My Life."

As fun as the segment looked, the bandmates admitted that the actual filming wasn't that joyous.

"By hour three in dude’s car, it got less fun,” guitarist Pat Smear told NMEin an interview released on Friday. "It kinda went on. When we stopped at Guitar Center, that felt like we were done, but it was like, 'This is halfway.'"

The band rocked out with the Late Late Show host on "Carpool Karaoke" on Wednesday and also had a revelation while talking about how they became one the biggest rock groups in the world.

Nate Mendel, the bassist for Foo Fighters, was one of the first to join the band and recalled to frontman Dave Grohl, "The first time we jammed, I was playing on a karaoke machine in your living room."

Calling out that the group was now on "Carpool Karaoke," Grohl exclaimed, "Full circle!"

Marc Anthony's mother, Guillermina Quiñones, has died. The 47-year-old singer shared the heartbreaking news on social media, writing how much he is "going to miss" his mother.

On Sunday, the Puerto Rican singer had tweeted to his followers to send well wishes for his mother. "Please pray for my mom today. I love you mommy," he wrote.
