A former employee of Eminem has been charged with leaking the rapper’s music online.
Joseph Strange, who worked for the Grammy-winning rapper from 2007 to 2021, has been charged with criminal infringement of a copyright and interstate transportation of stolen goods in connection with the sale of Eminem’s unreleased music, according to U.S. attorney Julie Beck.
On Jan. 16, the FBI was contacted by an employee at Eminem’s (real name Marshall Mathers) studio in Ferndale, Michigan, after they found the “Houdini” artist’s unreleased music that he was still working on listed for sale on various websites, according to the criminal complaint. “The employees recognized this as an image taken directly from a hard drive in the Ferndale studio,” the news release stated.
The FBI eventually tracked down those who purchased Eminem’s unreleased music and they identified Strange as the seller.

When it was announced that Eminem would be killing off Slim Shady – his alter ego who catapulted his career in the late ‘90s with tracks like “My Name Is” – fans wondered what exactly that meant. Was it all a gimmick or was Eminem moving on from those sorts of lyrics, which were often on blast for being homophobic and misogynistic? Now in his 50s – and, more importantly, in 2024 – there just might not be a place for Slim Shady.
In a unique video courtesy of Complex titled “Slim Shady vs. Marshall Mathers: The Face-off”, Mathers sat down with his bleach blonde haired alter ego for a light-hearted but enlightening and self-therapeutic conversation. It’s here that Mathers calls out Slim, who Mathers actually created as a way to hope with his stress, addictions and difficult upbringing. “So you think it’s entertaining to just be a d*ckhead and piss people off?...

Slim Shady has defeated the Swifties.
Eminem’s The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) debuts atop The Billboard 200 today, giving the Detroit rapper his 11th No. 1 album. It ends the 12-week reign of Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department, leaving her a week short of tying a nearly 50-year-old record. Only Stevie Wonder’s Grammy-winning classic Songs in the Key of Life spent more weeks on top (13) after debuting at No. 1. It later added a 14th nonconsecutive week.
Eminem was the first artist to score 10 straight No. 1-debuting albums. The Death of Slim Shady is the 15-time Grammy winner’s first album since Music to Be Murdered By, which streeted just before the Covid lockdown. The new set’s lead single, “Houdini,” reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. The rapper, who won a Best Song Oscar in 2003 for “Lose Yourself” from the movie 8 Mile, was inducted...

Eminem Unseats Taylor Swift Atop Billboard 200 as The Tortured Poets Department’s 12-Week Reign Ends
After 12 weeks of Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department, topping the Billboard 200 — holding onto the spot despite competition from Billie Eilish, Charli Xcx, Zach Bryan, and more — Eminem has finally dethroned the pop star with his new album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), taking the No. 1 spot.
Eminem’s 12th studio album — and his first in four years — The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) arrived on July 12th, 2024, following the release of singles “Houdini,” “Tobey,” and “Somebody Save Me.” Now, having earned the No. 1 spot, it marks Eminem’s 11th consecutive release to top the Billboard 200, continuing a trend that began with The Marshall Mathers LP in 2000.
His track record partially explains how Eminem was able to pull-off what so many others couldn’t: dethroning Swift from No. 1. The first serious contender was Billie Eilish, who released her third album Hit Me Hard and Soft in May.

Since the start of the 2010s, each of Eminem’s albums has served as an extended feedback loop. Defined by their near total refusal to engage with contemporary musical trends, they’re bloated, insular, and largely meta in nature, focusing on how hard it is for Em, now well over two decades into his career, to come up with new things to say. And how, when he tries something new, everyone hates it. And how, when he doesn’t try something new, people still hate it. And, of course, how he’s the greatest to ever do it and the haters need to shut it.
Eminem’s 12th studio album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), offers an ostensible twist: Its first half is performed by Slim Shady, an alter ego that’s been killed off several times already, while the second half features Eminem just being himself.

Eminem released his 12th album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) on Friday, and as per usual, made it a point to call out people of the times including Sean “Diddy” Combs and Alec Baldwin.
On the LP’s ninth track, “Fuel,” the Grammy-winning artist and fellow rapper J.I.D make it a point to address some of the biggest stories in culture today: the several sexual assault allegations against Combs and the tragic death of Halyna Hutchins on the Rust set when a revolver that star Alec Baldwin was handling went off.
In Eminem’s second verse of the song, he raps: “I’m like a R-a-p-e-r (Yeah) / Got so many S-As (S-As), S-As (Huh) / Wait, he didn’t just spell the word, ‘Rapper’ and leave out a P, did he? (Yep).” When rapped, the lyrics “P, did he?” clearly sound like “P. Diddy.”

Eminem Raps About Alec Baldwin and Halyna Hutchins Shooting on New Song Released During ‘Rust’ Trial
Eminem’s new album “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)” was released on Friday and is full of lyrics about current events and celebrity culture, including multiple Diddy disses. But one other new song from the artist seems destined to cause controversy.
Eminem raps about the tragic “Rust” shooting — in which Alec Baldwin fatally shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins with an on-set gun carrying live ammunition — in the new song “Fuel,” the ninth track on the album.
“Fuck around and get popped like Halyna Hutchins / Like I’m Alec Baldwin, what I mean is buckin’ you down, coup de grâce then,” he raps.
The song and album’s release date happens to fall on the third day of Baldwin’s Santa Fe manslaughter trial for the shooting, which has propelled the actor back into the news.

Eminem is facing backlash on social media over a new track where he refers to Alec Baldwin’s Rust shooting, where cinematographer Halyna Hutchins lost her life.
In the rapper’s new album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), he included a song titled “Fuel,” where he includes lyrics about the death.
“Clutchin’ the nine millimeter, tuckin’ the heat / Got the toaster like an English muffin / No, I mean, “Toast to” like you drink to somethin’ But it’s in a holster, I proceed to bust it,” Eminem raps. “F*** around and get popped like Halyna Hutchins / Like I’m Alec Baldwin, what I mean is buckin’ you down, coup de grâce then / Right between the fuckin’ / I shoot ’em all in if you think you’re fuckin’ with me.”

After a prolonged wait, The Death of Slim Shady has finally hit the radio, and it’s safe to say that it lives up to fans’ expectations of the potential swansong of Slim Shady. Set to serve as a goodbye to Eminem’s breakout character, the acclaimed rapper hasn’t held back with it, especially with some of the darker songs in the tracklist, such as Antichrist.
It’s not uncommon for the Rap God artist to take digs at viral sensations, whether it be Michael Jackson or Britney Spears back in the day. And with Antichrist, The Marshall Mathers LP artist took shots at Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion’s ugly beef, which hasn’t sat well with everyone.

Eminem has driven the final nail into his alter ego’s coffin. The rapper’s 12th studio album The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) has arrived.
The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) was preceded by the lead singles “Houdini” and “Tobey,” which featured fellow Detroit rappers Big Sean and BabyTron. The record spans 19 tracks including early-career callbacks in a skit titled “Guess Who’s Back” — one of three interlude-like tracks — and “Guilty Conscience 2,” the follow-up to his Dr. Dre-assisted single “Guilty Conscious” from 1999’s The Slim Shady LP.

Legend has it that if you stand in the mirror and say “Houdini” three times, Foster the People will appear out of thin air and play “Houdini x Houdini x Houdini,” their mashup of their own song “Houdini” with Dua Lipa‘s single “Houdini,” and Eminem’s new single — also titled “Houdini.” The other option, if for some reason the idea of Foster the People spawning in your home is unsettling, is to hear it on Instagram, where the band shared a breakdown showing their process of combining the three songs.

Long before Dua Lipa and Eminem dropped separate songs named “Houdini” roughly six months apart, Foster the People released their own track of the same name in 2011.
During a recent studio session, the band’s founder and vocalist Mark Foster decided to have some fun and mash all three songs together. In a video posted across social media, Foster broke down how he chopped up parts of each “Houdini” and combined them into a mash-up, which actually came together pretty well. Watch the clip below.
Foster the People’s “Houdini” appeared on their breakout 2011 debut effort, Torches. Lipa then released her own “Houdini” in November 2023 as the lead single from her latest album, Radical Optimism, while Em followed up with his “Houdini” in May of this year to launch his upcoming album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), out next Friday, July 12th.

Eminem has had one of the greatest careers of all time. He has collectively been regarded as the king of the rap genre, having had hits follow him through his professional life. He is known for being ruthless when it comes to his songs; always having something to say, and the world waiting to listen to his every word. There is no better example of this than his upcoming album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce).

2024 seems to be a comeback year for Will Smith as he had a successful return to the big screen with Bad Boys: Ride or Die. The actor also reportedly released his first single since 2017 and debuted it at the BET Awards earlier today. The song, You Can Make It also featured artist Fridayy and the Sunday Service Choir.
While many were appreciative of Smith’s comeback, fans were quick to notice the lyrical flow of the song was awfully similar to a twenty-four-year-old classic from Eminem. Many expressed that Smith’strack shared similarities with the Houdini singer’s The Way I Am.

There was a time when no one was as iconic or influential in the world of hip hop, and he is often credited for paving the way for white rappers in the industry. Volker Schlöndorff, Oscar-winning director for The Tin Drum, based on Günter Grass's novel Die Blechtrommel, invited me to join him on the set for his latest film, Return To Montauk (Rückkehr Nach Montauk), while he was shooting scenes with Stellan Skarsgård and Susanne Wolff at the New York Public Library. The film also stars Nina Hoss and Niels Arestrup (brilliant in Diplomacy with André Dussollier). Screenwriter Colm Tóibín, along with Margarethe von Trotta and her co-writer Pam Katz (The Other Woman (Die Andere Frau), Rosenstrasse and Hannah Arendt) were up on the steps.

Von Trotta co-wrote and co-directed The Lost Honor of Katharina Blum with Volker, based on Heinrich Böll's novel and he directed her in their script for Coup de Grâce.

WWE held the Nxt Takeover Brooklyn event in the Barclays Center in front of a raucous New York crowd that was energetic all night long. The event started shortly after 7:30pmET with matches taped for next week’s Nxt show and then at 9pmET the live broadcast started on WWE Network.
The show was originally scheduled to run for two hours, but it ran late. The main event started at about 10:58pmET and the broadcast went off the air at 11:22pmET, but that’s the advantage of airing on WWE Network – they can end it when they want. Here are the results from the show.
Triple H did a promo in ring with the lights off and said “We Are Nxt” as the lights came on with the crowd going wild.

The CW’s The 100 Coup de Grâce TV Show Review. The 100: Season 2, Episode 11: ‘Coup de Grâce,’ was something of a demarcation point, for the character of Clarke (Eliza Taylor), in her evolution towards becoming some historical figure for the ages (at least, that seems to be the impression being [...]

The 100, Season 2, Episode 11, “Coup de Grâce”
Written by Charlie Craig
Directed by P.J. Pesce
Airs Wednesdays at 9pm (Et) on The CW
On this week’s The 100, Clarke takes command, Bellamy joins forces with Maya, Octavia straddles the line between Grounder and Sky Person, and Cage usurps his father.
“Coup de Grâce” is not only an astonishingly well-done episode of The 100, but also a brilliant piece of television. While the show is naturally concerned with the flow of its story–and the various pieces of its story falling gracefully into place–The 100‘s biggest concern lies with the characters and how being in this harsh, unforgiving landscape is transforming them. Some of them are broken by it, some of them adapt to survive, and some of them rise steadily to the challenge of living in such a dangerous, lawless place.
Clarke is unequivocally the latter, and...

TV show trailer for The CW‘s The 100, Coup de Grâce. Bellamy (Bob Morely) gets the front-and-center, full analysis treatment, in the worst way possible, for the next episode of The 100. After Clarke’s (Eliza Taylor) plan – which was shaky, to begin with – got shook to pieces, Lincoln (Ricky Whittle) [...]

Diplomacy
Directed by Volker Schlöndorff
France, 2014
It’s the odd film where two men talking in a hotel room is more exciting than tanks and resistance members on the streets below, but that’s exactly the case in Volker Schlöndorff’s new Diplomacy. World War II is drawing to a close. As the Allies near Paris, Swedish Consul Raoul Nordling (André Dussollier) attempts to convince Nazi General von Choltitz (Niels Arestrup) not to ignite the charges that would leave the City of Light in ruins.
The large majority of the film takes place in said hotel room, and Schlöndorff utilizes the small space expertly, blocking Nordling and Choltitz in a dizzying array of interactions, thereby removing any feeling of staginess. The explosion is to go off at dawn, and cinematographer Michel Amathieu slowly brings the balcony’s natural light from an opaque black to a soft blue, one of the...

We wouldn't dare neglect the selection of bite-sized cinema from around the world. Here are the Twitch contributors' favorite shorts and web series from 2011. Shorts Hope (Canada) Director: Pedro Pires by Todd Brown Though Jesus Orellana's Rosa is arguably the short of the year in terms of industry response and overall awareness--and for good reason, it's fantastic--i prefer Pedro Pires' Hope. The latest from the director of Danse Macabre is pure visual art, packed to the gills with gorgeous images and haunting emotional resonance. This man's a genius and needs to be turned loose on a feature now. Nursery Crimes (United Kingdom) Lost for Words (Canada) Coup de Grâce (Spain) by Shelagh M Rowan-Legg Films began as shorts, and it's nice to see directors...

In a world that is getting more and more used to streaming their TV shows, their movies and even their lives, one company is known as the king of it all, and that’s Netflix. But Hulu, being around since 2007, has started to gain some steam this past year alone. Then Hulu Plus came along officially in November 2010, and as a monthly paid subscription promised subscribers full seasons of television shows, more episodes of series that were already on the site. When Criterion announced they were partnering with Hulu to showcase their films on the site, we here at CriterionCast were a bit skeptical.
A bit might be treading lightly. As fans, we first thought it was the biggest mistake they could have made. It was from the mindset that the ‘only’ streaming sight out there was Netflix and any other choice was a poor one. Myself being one that...
