The film was released on DVD for the first time in 2012. The Sony Pictures Choice Collection, similar to the Warner Bros. Archives, features DVD-R recorded versions of cult films that are not popular enough for wide release.
The song "Whatever Happened to Randolph Scott" (1970) plays during the film's opening credits and became a big hit for the band The Statler Brothers. The tune was written by Don Reid who was a member of the country music group . In Chapter 11 of his book "Random Memories" (2007), Reid confesses to having never seen this movie.
During the robbery attempt, a poster for the 1972 Peter Sellers flop La clinique en folie (1972) can be seen on the wall of the drive-in concession stand. Drive-In and Where Does It Hurt were both directed by Rod Amateau.
The name of the movie playing at the drive-in theater was "Disaster '76". It's a fictional spoof, no such movie exists in reality.
