Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: Who Are the Illuminati?
Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mads Mikkelsen, Tilda Swinton, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, and Benedict Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange (2016)
The Illuminati may be relatively new to Marvel Comics, but they are one of the universe’s most compelling concepts. The Illuminati have been absent from the MCU, but recent trailers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness confirm the existence of the organization, albeit in a slightly different form.

In Marvel Comics, the Illuminati is a gathering of the smartest and most influential heroes on Earth. They exist to deal with galactic and multiversal threats; complex problems that demand difficult solutions. They first appeared in the pages of Brian Michael Bendis’ run on New Avengers and played a major role in the follow-up, New Avengers, written by Jonathan Hickman. These stories found the Illuminati making morally gray decisions, like when they decided to exile Bruce Banner in space to avoid any further Hulk outbursts, and plotted to destroy alternative Earths before their own was compromised in Secret Wars.

BlacKkKlansman Oscar winner Kevin Willmott is set to write the feature story of Wimbledon tennis champion and African American civil rights activist Arthur Ashe, a project on which Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park Entertainment Group and Warner Music Group (Wmg) are teaming.

Warner Music Group will help secure the music and provide creative guidance to the filmmakers, which plan to tap into the extraordinary works of the era by such artists as Aretha Franklin, Prince, Curtis Mayfield and others.

“Arthur’s legacy reaches far beyond his greatness as a tennis player,” Amritraj said. “Always a gentleman; bold, graceful, and intellectual; while at the same time passionate in his fight against racial inequality and injustice,...

Hyde Park Entertainment Group is expanding its global reach, with the independent entertainment company setting up a new division to produce film and TV projects from Asian and Indian creators.

The Los Angeles-based company’s Hyde Park Entertainment Asia division aims to champion diverse and inclusive talent pools, and the division’s first slate of projects will focus on Indian stories for English and local-language audiences. The company, which also has a London office, will continue to produce and finance projects out of its Los Angeles headquarters, but will also expand its overseas productions with a base in Chennai, India.

Ashok Amritraj, Hyde Park Entertainment Group CEO and longtime producer and advocate for diversity in the entertainment industry, said his company’s new division is part of his goal to give creators outside traditional Hollywood spaces the tools and platform they need to bring their projects to a global audience.
