Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha in Do Anjaane (1976)

Trivia

Do Anjaane

Edit
Mithun had a small role in the film during his struggling days, as the producer was his roommate he got a chance to do a small role.
It is alleged that Amitabh and Rekha started their affair during the making of the film.
People who grew up in the 70's always debated about the ending of Do Anjaane. Dulal Guha had shot 2 separate endings. The producer and distributor wanted a happy ending. The original sad ending was shown at the premiere. By the time the second premiere show was held on December 3, 1976 , Dulal Guha was in Tirupati. After that he was going to fly to Madras to discuss Dil Ka Heera with the producer. Gulshan Rai, the distributor of Bombay, against the wishes of Dulal Guha, had used the happy ending. The original ending as per the story, where the couple separate at Bagdora airport. The screenplay by Nabendu Ghosh had Rekha leaving the airport in her car, with the refrain "koi mere saath chale na chale " being played in the back ground. That had to be changed for commercial reasons and be more viable. Do Anjaane was a film for the multiplexes. Not for the front benchers. But due to Amitabh ever increasing popularity Gulshan Rai felt the audience would not accept losing his wife and not winning her back.
The only film director dulal guha with amitabh bachchan, the first film of producers tito & tony, the first hit of amitabh & rekha.
Mumtaz was approached for the movie but was retiring so she declined. Next Sharmila Tagore was approached, but she didnt want to do a negative role.
