Another new series was set to be made and released after Chigley. It was never done despite new models and sets being made for it.
The seemingly idyllic village in the "Endeavour" series 6 episode 3 "Confection", is called "Chigton Green". This name runs together the titles of three animated TV programs for children which were popular on British television in the 1960s - Chigley (1969-) , Trumpton (1967-) and Camberwick Green (1966-) , each of which was set in, and named after, an idyllic English village. Collectively, these 3 series, which all share the same story universe, have since been issued in a 39 episode DVD boxset named as, and are now officially retrospectively formerly known as "The Trumptonshire Trilogy".
In 2018-2019, the "Endeavour" series six episode three episode "Confection", set in 1969, featured a chocolate manufacturer called "Cresswell's Confectionery". As the entire run of "Endeavour" features various in-jokes and references to events, tv shows and movies contemporary to and/or set in the same time period as their various episodes, its highly likely that "Endeavour"'s "Cresswell's Confectionery" is clearly a reference to Cresswell's Biscuits from Chigley. Additionally, its plausible for fan theory to put them in the same story universe.
Following a series of various corporate takeovers, mergers, and de-mergers, by May 2019, the intellectual property rights to the Trumptonshire Trilogy appear to now be owned by NBCUniversal.
